Piping noise into empty stadiums is kind of Madden, isn't it? A guy gets quarantined now, only a few people are directly involved. Once they get in the locker room, everything changes. It. Just. Won't. Happen. What about at other levels? It has to be more of the same, doesn't it? Only more so? @HazletonEagle had a great post - at the bottom of Page 68 - that I refer you all to. Just a great post. I quote here in part: "Secondly, if all of these NFL players are opting out someone is telling them that the risks outweigh the prospect of being paid MILLIONS of dollars. In high school, that level of Benefit does not exist in their weighing of risk:benefit. How can it be so dangerous that people are turning down millions of dollars to play professionally, yet somehow it makes sense for high school players to play just for fun?" Well, it's not necessarily turning the money down. It just carries over to next year. They get the $150k or $350k for this year, and pick up where they left off in their contact in 2021.

His WHOLE POINT is that asking high school players to play and risk their health "for fun” while NFL players opt out shows how little the system values the kids. I don’t mean to speak for him. He did that perfectly well himself.

Yea, and HE also talked about the obvious conflict of interest by the SMAC in that its how they make their living. Sounds familiar. Gotta open them schools...
July 29, 20205 yr Btw, JR, I agree with you. If things continue the way they're going, I don't see a season either. The NFL is wrapped up in so many billions of advertising dollars, they will try and push the envelope as far as possible. But in the end its about the players. If guys are sick, or even if a certain percentage of players are just sitting in quarantine with no access to the media for pre game, post game, midweek interviews.... its going to get ugly.

Yes, it is a huge impact on working parents. I understand that. So we need solutions but until we have those, Philly made the right choice.

I’m talking about the school employees that will be out of work, the companies that supply schools and the kids who need schools as an escape from unhappy homes. Unfortunately a large portion of kids get their best or only meals from school. Some of them get their best and only guidance from teachers or administrators. Some companies rely solely on supplying school districts but now start laying people off. So, no. It’s not just about working parents. Pretty odd to be celebrating a difficult situation whichever decision is made. They're supposedly working on another stimulus package.

I don't think there is going to be a season, but I think the NFL is looking beyond its immediate dollars. They know how important they are to their communities and the income streams there and the livelihoods of so many people...from staff at the Linc to the local bartenders and suppliers. The tax loss from a lost season will be tough on Philadelphia and Pennsylvania....and will come back to hit the same individuals. They deserve a lot of credit for trying. There is so much more hanging in the balance here than most will ever understand.
