Fresh tarragon or from the store?  Grew tarragon this year in one of my herb gardens. Fresh is so much better. I have three types of basil growing, rosemary, two types of chives, two types of oregano, thyme, marjoram, three types of parsley, fennel, mint, sage, lavender, scallions, cilantro and dill, next plantings of parsley, cilantro and dill just in for my inside winter herb garden because the second batch of dill just went to seed and the cilantro will follow soon. I will harvest cilantro (coriander) and fennel seeds this fall and maybe the dill seeds. (I have been reseeding cilantro for years but need coriander this year, so….) If that works, I think I will try cumin and possibly caraway next year.  The fresh herbs can also be harvested, hung and dried.  (Just like the marijuana plants we grew in our youth.)  Wife and I have been playing with and mixing the herbs and spices a bunch this summer.   Wife has picked up my habit of tasting herbs walking around the garden.

Harvesting peppers from now until the freeze. Lost my cayenne plant to a rooting squirrel or rabbit but everything else is going strong.  (I had so much cayenne last year I won’t be running out of that soon but was hoping to make some flakes with this year’s crop.  Tomatillos coming in strong and I am real hopeful that this year the Romas last long enough to make some salsas.  Should at least get some homemade salsa verde.  I have seven paprika plants full of peppers.  Will smoke some and then grind some smoked and some not.  I highly recommend sweet pepper flakes (mostly bells for me.)   Should have enough poblanos and jalapeños for some ancho and chipotle, including grinding some.  Will also flake some jalapeños.  Now, I like some heat so I don’t seed the hot peppers.

You forgot to mention to be sure to use aluminum free baking powder.  I have started using corn starch instead.  I dry the wing and let them air dry in the basement fridge for an hour and then make a rub and add about two tablespoons to the corn starch and coat them and let them sit in the basement fridge overnight. Find those just as crispy as with baking powder.  But like @Iggles_Phan, I don’t fry them. I grill them with smoke.  For wings, I use a mix of pecan, apple and cherry for smoke or just mesquite.

Cat got his own garden last year with catnip, cat grass and ornamental grasses.  He likes to "hunt” by hiding in the tall grass.

I am in awe. Green with envy too. Yes, I should have specified aluminum-free baking powder. I use corn starch or tapioca powder for slurries but I've never used it on my wings. Will do so forthwith. We’re out of our house some years now and live in an apartment. No stairs for these old knees. I have basil, thyme, tarragon, and mint plants on the balcony and that’s it. I harvest the herbs at the end of the season and vacuum seal them with olive oil and then freeze them. I’ve tried drying herbs in my air fryer but I’m not happy with the results. Sadly, my wife doesn’t like smoked anything so that’s out. We have dear friends who own two restaurants and they get their za’atar from Lebanon and we get some from them. Fantastic spice, primarily thyme and sumac and I use it instead of paprika and sometimes in place of lemon zest. Makes for great omelets too. We love tomatillo sauce, go through a lot of limes but we buy all the ingredients. Spatchcock a chicken and put it under the skin before roasting in the Lodge pan.

Non-Eagles but interesting...

Saw some film clips of Harrison and thought he looked slow, but this was kinda shocking.

Meh…speed isn’t everything.  I feel pretty confident that he will be just fine.

@just relax (and others with some gray in their hair).  Last weekend watching college ball, I saw Nebraska line up at least once in the Power I and Texas line up in the Wishbone.  Now I just need to see the Veer at UH, the Run n Shoot from Portland State, Kentucky or Texas Tech running the Air Raid, and anyone running Pop Warner’s Wing T., maybe Notre Dame to make it full circle from my youth.  Fun fact, Warner invented the single wing up the road from me with an athlete named Thorpe in Carlisle.  What comes around goes around.

Tubby Raymond won a national championship or two at Delaware running the wing T. Loved to watch it. Michigan ran the single wing under Bump Eliot, as did Syracuse under Ben Schwartzwalder. I’m old enough to have seen all that. Not old enough for the Carlisle Indians, though.

You can't tell someone to retire.

Obviously, but you can tell them they might not recognize their kids by the time they are 40 if they don't and severe mental health problems to the point of suicidal feelings are likely. For him to get concussed on a routine hit like that and have his body seize up like that is FN scary.

If the NFL truly cares about player safety, they should step in and ask him to retire. He's had 3 of the ugliest concussions we've ever seen and I don't think it's even close.

I agree.

What did him in was the fact that in 2022 he played with a concussion and then got another concussion when he wasn't even recovered from the first one.

I am green with envy too.  I moved to a new home back in 2022 and now have a little over an acre…with plenty of room for an impressive garden (which I envisioned being done by now, but work got in the way).  I can’t wait to be able to walk out to my back yard to get my necessary veggies and herbs.  For now, I continue to support my nearby (some, anyway) farmer markets.  I’m supremely jealous of @BigEFly’s setup.

I am wondering how much of my future garden will survive once I do build it.  We back up to a forest preserve and have a ton of wildlife.

The spatchcock chic w/ tomatillo sauce under the skin, roasting in a cast iron has my mouth watering

The other way it could play out is that Tua passes the return to baseline testing but ultimately does not get cleared to return to play. If that happens, that is either because he can't progress to full activites because of concussion symptoms, the team doctor does not clear him or the independent neuro consulting doc does not clear him.  So there would have to be some dispute about whether he was exhibiting signs and symptoms of a concussion or he ultimately isn't cleared by the INC.  It's hard to imagine a scenario where Tua's is symptomatic and wants to return to play anyway or he isn't symptomatic but is not cleared and wants to play.

There have been a few prominent hockey players who have had their careers derailed by concussions.  Eric Lindros would sit out 6 months to a year, come back and still have concussion symptoms or concussions -- same thing with Sidney Crosby.  I can remember him sitting out more than 6 months, coming back and getting concussed again and missing more time.  Concussions need a long recovery period, especially the severity of concussions that Tua is dealing with.

If I'm the Dolphins GM I'd be looking to protect my investment for the long term, which unfortunately means you talk with Tua and his agent about shutting him down for the season.  Give him a full 9-10 months to recover, and target training camp next season as (hopefully) a full recovery.  It makes zero sense to put him back on the field in 6-8 weeks and not expect more serious problems.

If he'd ruptured his achilles there would be no discussion; the recovery time is 9-12 months.  The Dolphins should be treating this injury the same way for the sake of the player and their own investment.

For legal and moral reasons a team or NFL can't ask a player to retire. That has to violate something. Morally at the very least. A doctor can tell him that if he gets another concussion that his long term health could be severely compromised, but a team or NFL can't ask a player to retire.

They probably can't force someone to retire but I wonder if they could do something like:

You can continue to play if you wish to assume all risk to your future health. The Miami Dolphins recommend you retire for your own well being due to multiple concussions but if you choose to continue to play, we assume no responsibility for your future health and well being.

Sit him out and don't let the hamstring become an issue.

My oregano, thyme and sage survive the winter in my raised bed and sometimes so does my rosemary.  I have some deep (think a window sill that is 3’x4’) exit windows in my basement that are my "greenhouses”.  One window I use for my starter plants and the other is pretty full in about a month with my indoor herb garden.  That has thyme, Greek and Italian oregano, rosemary and basil (there is always a basil growing in the house) in individual pots and chives, dill, cilantro, parsley and tarragon in some longer planters.  On the floor to keep the cat away from the garden is a catnip and a cat grass.

To dry herbs, I bunch what I harvest (branches or whole plants) and hang it up upside down until I happen to see them again and notice they are ready.  Then I harvest the leaves.  Best place is the attic for me, hanging from the rafters.  Used to do that at my folks as well as dried peppers that way. (In Houston in containers, peppers and tomatoes are year round plants.  Those attics were like a dehydrator without the fan air. Just enough circulation from the ridge vent. Almost always hot.)

Apparently he was in a lot of pain after practice. He might not be back for a while.

LOL @ Covey telling AJ Brown he looked fast.

Just a walkthrough tomorrow so almost three days of rest.  🤞

Oh mama😍

Where is this being played? That looks like a European ice with all of those ads.

@mattwill

Eagles - 24

Dirty Falcon birds - 10

Bonus Prediction - At least 1 EMB post during the game will be that Zach Baun is playing like UrLAKkkkerSzz out there. Dotson will have 0 targets because Hurts doesn't read progressions past 2.  Penix will see a couple snaps in garbage time, Merrill Reese will butcher his name and call him P.eenuss. Notre Dame will play the Warwick Warriors High School football team, and lose 13-12. Big Dom will be seen massaging Kenny Pickett's calf on the sideline as he furiously eats bananas. The bananas look huge in Kenny's tiny hands.

I really hope this kid is the real deal. This town needs a good hockey team back.

I wish they didn't look as good without him against the Jets.  Hopefully once teams scout this new RB they have that minimizes their success without McCaffrey.

Yeah I think he is impacted the rest of the year even if he comes back later.  That's a tear waiting to happen.
