My view as well. I mean what is Iran supposed to think after they were attacked during negotiations and now the build up of ground forces, with new negotiations on the horizon?

"Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me”… they will be ready this time with everything they have left.

An off ramp is not an easy task with the way this "excursion” has been handled. Trump is out of his league here and let’s hope his stupidity will not be the cause of a high casualty rate for our troops.

And the time Israel wiped out a dozen houthi leaders who showed up to negotiate. For the Us and its closest military allies to be assassinating and abducting foreign leaders during negotiations is a can of worms that will reverberate for decades. But Trump don't give a rats about that, he'll burn the world to cinders just to win next week's Fox Poll.

Im talking about implications for us. Not Trump's personal motives.

I dont think we need troops to go "fight for lower oil prices." I think we need troops to go fight mainly for all of the downstream implications from that that affect our country, and the worlds economy. And, our future from an Iran that has experienced victory over the USA.

Iran has the blueprint now to exert power over us any time we try to keep them in check. From now on, no half measures will be possible. We want to sanction them, or selectively bomb certain sites to slow them down- they have the answer.

Good point, which is exactly the reason that this was a terrible idea, at least from the way they have handled it. I’m not talking about the military success, but the political implications and what happens in the future.

Even though the Iraq War was based on bad intelligence/lies and ended up causing a lot of problems in that region for multiple years, the Bush administration brought along the country at the start and also included his important allies. Nothing is ever perfect, but the way this is being handled is described best with incompetence.

Well, it’s done now and we’ve back ourselves into a corner. Damned if you do and dammed if you don’t. This is the type of mess where it’s terrible to have an impulsive "leader” at the helm. That’s one of the main reasons no other president went on this "excursion”.

I’d hate to see more US "kids” die for some idiotic war that was unnecessary to start. How about this idea: give Israel all the firepower / equipment / intelligence they need and let them put boots on the ground.

And give em all the new stuff, instead of the way we handled it in Ukraine. Or is this more our neighborhood than Eastern Europe?

I bet if we turned Trump over to them they'd let us start going back through the Strait. Maybe even for free. American regime change would be a pretty big feather in their cap. Seems like a small price to pay.

Doesnt accomplish much. Next president can still be squashed under Iran regime's thumb. Iran can from this point forward do whatever the F they want and we cant stop them with half measures. Theyve proved that now. Our last/only option seems to be full out war.

I do like @Frankfurteagle89 idea to just use Israeli troops, but Trump will be blackmailed in to helping with US troops as well.

No.

That's not me being a smart a** either. It's just beyond that at this point. I don't even see how oil could come down in the next 2-3 years. This was stupid from the start.

We will be lucky at this point if this doesn't escalate into a larger conflict.

Israel doesn't have anywhere near the man power to accomplish what you want to accomplish. And I'm willing to pay more at the pump to avoid a full scale war that could easily go on for decades. Lowering gas prices isn't worth sacrificing thousands of soldiers, trillions of dollars and ending up with God knows what kind of nightmare in Iran when all's said and done. And removing Iran's bargaining chip isn't worth all that either. Trump F'd it up. We should cut our losses and move on.

Right. Would be nice, but Im saying it doesnt seem possible anymore. I dont think its as simple as just accepting higher gas prices. If thats it, then great.

I see two ways to end this: Eliminate Iran. Or eliminate Israel. As long as they both exist, we are stuck in this quagmire. Or we could offer up Trump on a pallet to Iran. That might work.

At least one alphanumeric, one number, one capital letter and one special.....the math checks out.

Hes simply not smart enough to realize there is more than one way to prevent passage through a rather narrow waterway.

I'm not wrong. The insurance companies closed it not Iran. Nothing Iran is doing is physically closing the straight.

Why are you still running with this? Iran is literally shooting at anything that they don't want passing through.

I know you're trolling, but this is ridiculous even for you. Do better.

Gee, I wonder why Lloyd's of London stopped insuring vessels traveling through the Straight of Hormuz. Guess they hate money and want to support the Ayatollah.

Because it's the truth. They didn't close the straight. The insurance companies did.

sloth is going to get really pissed off that you're stealing his schtick.

He's going to play it off like he's trolling now lol Cool, now that the troll job is over you can admit Iran closed the straight.

Insurance companies are now running the Straight of Hormuz?! 😂

Just saying it over and over again, while being wrong, makes you look retarded and I demand more right now.
