Same, very much getting the same feeling as I had when we were about to face the Giants in the opening playoff game 2 yrs ago.

I think it could be an absolute bludgeoning. 38-10 kinda game. Eagles own every matchup except maybe STs. Think it would take Hurts AND the 3rd down defense shitting the bed for the Eagles to blow this.

But he’s a HOF QB that took the Cards to a Super Bowl.

As I said earlier...

The point of the exercise wasn't assigning HOF QBs to teams.  RTK was lauding Hurts for his eventual ascension to the best QB in franchise history.  I first argued that it isn't that big of a deal given the competition within our franchise.  I then used HOF as a proxy for the greatness of other team's best QB in franchise history to further illustrate my point.

Most QBs nowadays are "non-traditional”.

Hurts just isn’t an amazing passer, but the dual threat QB is here to stay. Allen is also "non-traditional”.

I always thought Allen would be out or on IR more with the way he plays. Though he is currently injured and just playing through it

Back in September I said Carter was top two DT in the league. I was mocked.😰😥

You're mocked for a whole bunch of stuff.  Are you sure this was one of them???   :smoke:

I think it'll be something closer to like 27 - 17 but where we control the flow of the game for all 60 min.

To a certain extent.

People talk about running vs pocket, but I also think of it as on vs off script QBs.  And that’s where I struggle with Hurts.  The last generation of great QBs were on script guys…Manning, Brady, Brees (at his best).  And for on script guys, they are stepping into throws, throwing with anticipation…arm strength isn’t all that important.

The great off script QBs…Elway/Favre (2 generations ago), Rodgers (1 generation ago), Mahomes, Josh Allen….what do they all have in common?  Massive arms.  They may not see someone break open as fast as Manning or Brady would, not as cerebral…but they can make any throw off balance on a line with the laser hitting the target in the chest before a defender closes.

Hurts is an off script qb without the arm.

I actually think Hurts is worse off script. For whatever reason, we seem to struggle on scramble drills.

Maybe the 3:30 practice is more getting ready for them to play in similar time slot or maybe the new field is working out the kinks.

That 2017 SB sucked.

🤔.  I don't think that's the argument being made at all.   I think that the argument is essentially saying that the odds play in your favor when you build a more traditional model for the franchise.  That can be argued from both sides... but no one is arguing that 2017 sucked.

And 2017 didn't start non-traditional.  It started highly traditional.  Get your young franchise QB... put pieces around him... fill in holes through FA... and go for it.  The non-traditional piece came when the injury to Wentz (and many others) hit... of course, even then, the 'conventional' piece was to have a competent backup QB that could lead the franchise to a number wins, over a short span of games, after the starter goes down.  That same model was used by the 1972 Dolphins (Griese missed a number of games and Earl Morrell led them at QB while he was injured), the 1980 Raiders beat the Eagles with their backup QB (a former #1 overall pick by the Patriots) when their starter went down, the 1990 Giants lost their starter (revamped the offense a bit and leaned very heavily on their D and Running game) and won the Super Bowl with their backup...  So, the Eagles method of winning in 2017 wasn't exactly a non-traditional option, it just wasn't plan A.  But their plan B was pretty darn good.

The non-traditional method the Eagles are currently using is with a QB where they intentionally choose to use him as a running threat by design.  That's not a tried and true method.  It's not quite as out of the box as the Buddy Ryan plan of 'Randall will just make 5 big plays, and we'll win', but it's not the norm.

Kurt Warner should not be in the HOF, though.  Sometimes the selection committee gets it wrong.  The guy had two excellent seasons with the Rams and two pretty good seasons with the Cardinals.  That's it.

His story got him in, which shouldn't be the criteria, but .....

Jalen is Back in Practice, Yes!!!!!!!!!!!

Watched the GB regular season game on NFL Network.  Hurts had 3 INTs which was bad.  Beginning of the season and he was still getting familiar with the system and players.  That should have passed and the winning stretch in the ensuring games proves that.  Now he is coming back from concussion.  Would he be at top condition?  Siri might have not said anything definite, but the world knows Hurts will be out there for the playoff.

I would agree.  2022, which was inarguably a great season for Hurts, was the most on script passing he’s done in his career.  And yes, there were rumors and hearsay that Steichen had him cut out half the field with progressions to simplify it…maybe false, maybe true, but still a great end product regardless.

We’ve seen less of it ever since.

Nick said their practice field is frozen and they wanted to practice outdoors, which is why they moved to the Linc

The non-traditional piece, as I interpret it, is using the QB as a primary runner by design.  Steve Young was a 'non-traditional' QB for his era, but he didn't really run the ball by design, he ran the ball primarily on scrambles, almost never by design.

For comparison purposes... Allen has never exceeded 124 rushes in a season (missing only 1 game in his career), meanwhile, Hurts has never had fewer than 139 rushes in a season, while missing games every year he's been the starter.  In other words, Allen scrambles but doesn't have the same frequency of designed runs as Hurts.  Allen's legs are a complement to his game, but not a fundamental piece of it.  His arm remains the primary weapon.

Allen averages just under 7 carries per game.  Hurts averages over 10 carries per game.  One might argue that the difference could attribute to the injury disparity, despite Allen's reckless running style.

Then why not 4:30 when the game starts?  🤔

Remember when we were 2-2 and tied with the Browns in the middle of the fourth quarter?

His 3 Super Bowl appearances contributed tremendously as well, with 2 different franchises.

Is there another QB that ever had 3 Super Bowl appearances that didn't make the HoF?

I would love nothing more than for them to somehow get to wear the Kelly Green in the playoffs.  If somehow they got to wear them in the NFC Title game or Bowl, Lord have Mercy.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Couldn't agree more. You should be able to demonstrate sustained success to get into the Hall. That's the reason why Sterling Sharpe isn't in, rightfully so, despite having 2 or 3 monster seasons in GB.

Aikman passed the eye test though. One of the most accurate passers of his era.

Yeah he did.  Hurts is also a very accurate passer.  Accuracy isn't the issue with Hurts.

Sterling Sharpe, IMO, should have gotten the Gale Sayers and Terrell Davis treatment.
