I would bet on the Eagles -3. Bucs -5-5 seems too high.

The only team I’m slightly worried about is Detroit.

The "traditional" model is having a GOAT-level QB to win Super Bowls.

But unless you have Brady or Mahomes, you have to find different ways to do it.

Now.  Back in the day, it didn't require GOAT-level, it required a 'franchise-level' QB.

The GOAT-level has become the norm now as the QB salaries have grown to ridiculous levels.  If you are investing a quarter of your salary cap on one guy... he'd better be able to buoy the rest of the roster, because the roster will be weaker as a result.

That's why it seems to be GOATs and QBs on rookie deals.

NFC Super Wild Card Weekend are Regular Season Rematches. Eagles Beat Packers, Bucs beat Commanders and Rams beat Vikings.   If the original Winner wins again in the playoffs, then the 2nd round will be:

Bucs @ Eagles

Rams @ Lions

Count me in, I hate the black jerseys.

We are losing the competitive advantage battle

new mock by these guys.

And when you get to the board at the eagles pick in this scenario, you have another georgia defender who happens to play edge, 6'5'' 265lb Mykel Williams.

But it also makes me wonder if we are a team so well built that we have the luxury of taking Omarion Hampton in that spot, and have a very dynamic, RB2 who can easily be a RB1 on a lot of teams as a rookie.

They gave the eagles Walter Nolen, DT from Ole Miss which is an interesting idea too. It replaces Milton Williams.

Will check this out. Definitely my favorite new school draft podcast. Balance that out with Kiper/Yates and sometimes McShay (though too dry most of the time)

Weiss as an OC:

  • '97: (Jets) 12th ranked scoring offense
  • '98: (Jets) 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '99: (Jets) 19th ranked scoring offense
  • '00: (Pats) 25th ranked scoring offense
  • '01: (Pats) 6th ranked scoring offense
  • '02: (Pats) 10th ranked scoring offense
  • '03: (Pats) 12th ranked scoring offense
  • '04: (Pats) 4th ranked scoring offense
  • '10: (Chiefs) 14th ranked scoring offense

Johnson as an OC:

  • '22: 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '23: 5th ranked scoring offense
  • '24: 1st ranked scoring offense

He had a very good season in '98 with the Jets but not sure that alone qualifies as being "very successful at multiple stops". And despite having the best QB in league history, he only cracked the top 5 once in his tenure with the Pats. Meanwhile Johnson has already surpassed Weiss' number of top 5 seasons in his first 3 years as an OC.

He cracked a top 5 offense with David Patten and David Givens as the top 2 receiving targets.  He did with Brady who was not the superstar QB he was in his later career.  He had a top 5 offense with Neal O'Donnell as the QB.  He had better than aveearage offenses for 7 out of 10 seasons.  His name only has one s.

Was just watching the 30 for 30 Magic documentary. Penny Hardaway was a joy to watch. His early career knee injury was unfortunate. He might have been a hall of famer.

Penny was one of my favorite non 6ers growing up. Zero doubt he would have been a HOFer without the injury. He was absolutely spectacular.

Packers getting both Evan Williams and Quay Walker back is a big deal.

Yeah he did.  Hurts is also a very accurate passer.  Accuracy isn't the issue with Hurts.

Agreed.

Aikman didn’t have gaudy stats, but anyone who watched him play could see he was elite.

I've long said that Hurts is extremely accurate when throwing in rhythm. The problem is Hurts has composure issues in the pocket.

So there was a mystery move incoming

I guess it depends on what you mean by "back in the day.”

The 90’s were dominated by Aikman and Elway, with one each for Favre, Montana and Young. The 80’s had Montana. The 70’s had Bradshaw…

The bottom line is if you want to win multiple rings in a decade, you almost have to have a HOF type QB.

Another Georgia defender that a bunch of blog posters liked.

Both transactions seem like 2025 moves. I don't see Byron Young doing anything in the playoffs when he couldn't play a single snap all year. Opening the window just allows him to practice up to the SB and they can just leave him on IR or activate him in an emergency if DT gets decimated.

Cine has been a bust but also hampered with a severe injury his rookie year. Bills have had him be a tweener S/LB on their PS. I can't see him learning Vic's scheme and earning the coaches trust to be out there in the Championship games.
