That was him inviting you and your wife over for the game, and probably cooking you a dinner as well.  Send him a DM.

I’m too tired to think of a ghey joke. Now I’m intrigued on how to source my own Amarosa rolls to Charlotte. Is that a thing?  If nobody answers me I will send inner butthole pics from my upcoming colonoscopy.

I know I’m gonna get killed about this but Amoroso rolls are good but I prefer a place that bakes their own roll in house (when i Am back in Philly). Have a guy out here where I live in Arizona that gets Amoroso rolls for his restaurant. he’s originally from Philly. It’s a solid cheesesteak. Before him a place called greasy Tony’s (revenge of the nerds a guy is wearing the shirt). Was from Jersey and baked his own rolls. Best cheesesteak I’ve ever had on the west coast. Used to go there once a week in college and talk with the owner about the eagles. When I go back to Philly to visit family, I like to go to cheesesteak places that make their own bread. Imo angelos is one of my favorites cause the roll is amazing and they make it themselves.

Come to Florida for some hot Velveeta mixed with a can of Chef Boyardee. We don’t do none of that fancy ish @NCiggles suggests

Honestly, I would just laugh in Embiid’s face.  What else is there to say to him?  He can’t be shamed.

Tbh this season has been screwed since game 1 cause of Embiid’s knee. They really should just sit him and George for the rest of the season. You already showed you don’t really wanna spend the money and go all in on this team because you ducked the luxury tax yet again with all these trades at the deadline. So might as well keep those guys out and just try to keep your draft pick by being bad.

I realize he can't just waste the coach with the ball, but I like that he swipes it out because when he is in the pocket, I think the chances of hitting mahomey in a way that triggers a flag (let's leave it at that without all ref-rigging back and forth) is reduced and yet can really turn a game.  Obviously a strip is worth a lot more than a sack if you get the ball.

Don't be confused, swiping the ball will also draw a flag.  No signs of aggression towards Mahomes or his WRs are allowed.

I get asked to try various "Philly" cheesesteaks in the places I visit.  In Cleveland, I was taken to a "The Original Steaks and Hoagies". (any folks from Delco might recognize that as the tag for "La Spada's".  This place claims to have formerly owned 3 LaSpadas shops in the Philly area.)    Anyway...  on the wall, they try so hard to prove that they are legit.   They have specific ordering instructions for people to get the full Philly experience.   It's an 8 foot tall mural with their whole story, and this is the end:

Step 1…Specify plain (no cheese), Cheez Whiz, Provolone cheese or American cheese.
Step 2…Specify if you want steak with (wit) or without (wit out) onions.
Step 3…Have your money ready. (Do all of your borrowing in line.)
Step 4…Practice all of the above while waiting in line.

So, I go and test them.   I order, "Cheesesteak, Provolone, Wit".  The kid behind the counter says "you want provolone and whiz?"   After a few minutes the kid at the griddle informs the kid that that's how they order them in Philly.  I told him, "I just followed the instructions on your giant mural."

Then I got the sandwich.  I took a picture and sent it to my wife.   She asked, "What's that?"   "That's Cleveland's attempt at a cheesesteak."  They claim to get Amoroso rolls delivered daily (I assume from Philly).   But, anyone in the area knows that there's 2 kinds of hoagie rolls... there's the fresh rolls that every steak shop uses, which need to be used within about 6 hours of being baked... and there's the ones they add the preservatives to that they bag up in multipack bags.  And while the name might be the same, they aren't the same level of roll.    (I'm personally a fan of Liscio's.).  And step one of the cheesesteak is getting the bread right.   If the bread is wrong, its the wrong sandwich.

Anyway, the meat was basically minced.  It wasn't 'shaved' as they claim.  And the cheese was added to the roll, then the meat to the roll.   The proper technique, of course, is to put the cheese over the meat as it sits on the griddle, and then the roll is placed over the cheese to steam a bit.   They didn't steam it at all.  :nonono:   It was ok.  But, it wasn't authentic by any means.  It was a decent approximation, but it wasn't worth it.   Some of the others over the years...   One was literally a slab of steak with a slice of cheese on a roll.  FYI... when they start pushing peppers... that's a red flag!  As is the 'whiz'.  🤮

Not sure as a transplant in the mid state that I could know what the proper bread is for a true cheesesteak.  Interesting about the steaming of the bread.  Not sure I have had that done properly.

But I can relate to the bread issue. We lived in NOLA for my early years and my folks were introduced to po’ boys. (I am sure @vikas83 is munching down a Po’ Boy at Mother’s as I type this.)  The NOLA style French bread must be fresh that day, no preservatives.  Crunchy on the outside and somewhat airy on the inside.  We move to Houston and get a Po’ boy.  My mom shakes her head and says that is not a po’ boy (folks from that area understand my capitalization differences).  Thereafter, whenever I went to NOLA or Mandeville to see my cousins, I would return the Houston whether flying or driving with a few loaves of fresh French bread.  Mom would have po boys for us that evening.

Me, if it’s good, it’s good.  If you are ever in Galveston, Shrimp n Stuff for their fried shrimp Po-boy. (The hyphen makes me chuckle.). Mom never liked their bread but damn, I love their shrimp.

Sidenote if any of you fellow heathens make it to Mother’s, note on the menu you can get fixins (damn spellcheck doesn’t recognize fixins) for red beans - ham hunks and ham bone, both necessary for NOLA red beans and rice, IMHO.

Why would that get you killed?  The fresher the bread, the better the bread.  There's no debate about that.  In house is always better, if they have a good recipe.  If not, then the big bakeries that ship out daily to the shops is next best.  The stuff you buy in prepackaged bags pale in comparison and fall a distant 3rd.  The Amoroso rolls for shipping aren't bad, but the others are just so much better.

Eh, those pics are overrated especially if you come back with a good report from the doc...sorry I can't help with the rolls sourcing...although I have heard that Publix bakery puts out some pretty good bread but idk...

Good on you getting the scope btw...got my first  a couple of years ago, the prep sucks but the nap is great...

You’re stealing the Taco Bell menu!

On the topic of food since we did this last week, I actually had a conversation with my dad today about breakfast pastries/baked goods. I said if you’re gonna get a breakfast baked food/pastry what are you going for as your go to option. options were a doughnut, croissant, Danish, scone or a muffin. He prefers a scone. I was like every time I want like a breakfast pastry I’m always craving a really good muffin. I feel like muffin is probably the route I’d go. IMO nothing like a really good blueberry muffin with a crumble top

Would you settle for just a muffin top?

I generally don’t crave desserts/pastries/baked stuff but I’m a fatty for cinnamon rolls. That with black coffee doesn’t get any better.

Time of year- right now brownie batter donut at Dunkin cant be beat.

Chocolate muffins from Sams Club.

Banana chocolate chip muffins from wal mart.

Croissant by itself? Nah. Has to be a breakfast sandwich.

Breakfast sandwich over any breakfast pastry anyway.

Scone? Wtf? no.

Cinnamon roll is a good one too. Didn’t think of that at the time. We have a place out here that makes them from scratch and they are massive.

He said scone cause he goes to this place out here that specializes in them.

I was thinking Winslow as well...then I looked more closely at this career, I think there are much better choices for top 5 all time TEs...

Winslow and Ditka played in a different era though.

Witten was a great player, but he was more about longevity than peak performance. Theres a reason he wasn’t on the all decade team.

In fairness to witten and the all decades teams, he was going up against arguably the 3of the 4 best tight ends over the past 25 years (possibly the 4 best). Tony gonzalez and Antonio gates were the tight ends on the 2000s decade team. And the 2010s decade team was Gronk and kelce.

Yeh, I'm not sold that Wit is a top 5 all time, but I need a better argument than longevity. The best ability is availability so longevity can't be held against you imo, and if you are going to use that as a ding on him you also need to use it as a ding on Gonzalez...they both had 17 year careers...their careers are very similar. Gonzalez apparently from the stats had more big play/scoring talent.

I’ll take a croissant with some sausage, egg and cheese stuffed in there

If we were just doing TEs from the last 30 years, I’d probably go this way

1. Tony gonzalez

2. Gates

3. Kelce

4. Gronk (if he stayed healthier I’d have him higher. he had 92 tds in 143 games is ridiculous to me. He has more tds than Kelce, Witten and sharpe in significantly less games. He has only 621 receptions but 9200+ yards everyone else has over 815 receptions to get to 10k)

5. Shannon sharpe

6. Witten

Mine is a "dougnut”.  A beignet from Cafe du Monde.

Now here’s a guy…

Breakfast tacos/burritos hands down here in Texas...there are some good bakeries, but for breakfast it's got to be filling. Donuts and sweet baked goods are really dessert to me.

A fresh flour tortilla, fresh scrambled eggs, chorizo (mexican sausage), cheese, homemade red and green sauce, you can get them with potato as well.
