I’m pessimistic as well but I had a feeling it was destiny when I saw this earlier in the week. Couldn’t draw this up in a Hollywood script room.

Yeah, after the shut out was out of the mix I didn’t care much. The backups have a story, no fluke injuries to our starters and honestly Mahomes might have gotten his limbs ripped off if Nick didn’t call off the dogs.

Yup.  The backups also earned the right to have their moment on that stage during the game.    And how great for Kenny Pickett... Eagles fan as a kid getting to step on the field and take some snaps in the Super Bowl for the Eagles?!   :towel:

I'm sure it's an outside chance. I wonder what the chances are we can keep Sweat. I've been saying for the past couple weeks someone is going to overpay him. He might be a guy that takes a hometown discount to finish his career here and chase another ring

Sweat fired his agent last week and hired Drew Rosenhaus. He basically said I'm gonna try to get paid and it worked.

I'm greedy and want Slay back for his last year as well.

Unless he's a post-June 1, it doesn't make sense financially to get rid of him. He still played at a pretty high level this year. Yes, he got banged up, but he played great. I'm all for him coming back, but I still want a bigger role for Ringo. I'd love for Rodgers to come back too, but I just don't see where there's room and that money needs to be used on the big dogs.

No Dianna.  We're gonna use next season to rest up.

Has there been any Jason Kelce reactions to the Eagles Superbowl win??? Looked a few places can't find any..

We cant talk about him.  Hes off limits.

What was so fantastic about this is that Jalen Carter clearly hits Mahomes in the face, and in today's NFL they could have easily called it a foul. It's the kind of play that we repeatedly see Mahomes get up and wave his arms and cry to the officials until a flag is thrown.

Look at him in the back just laying on the ground and peeling himself off the turf. DEFEATED. Nothing they could do.

If the game was tighter than he'd probably cry to the refs.  At this point the game was over and he already looked defeated way before that.

Wonder if Nick talks Kellen into to staying to run it back

So I'm up to 10-0. So far here are the themes

- Complaining about the refs (lol)

- "Spags' saves the good defense for the second half"

- the tush push is gay

- we always start off down 10, Pat's about to cook

So funny how it's an off the LB that made such a difference, so many fans ripped Howie for years over his view of the LB and rightfully so. But that's the move that transformed the defense to be a complete cohesive unit. Fans should feel vindicated and hopefully now Howie finally saw the light with the position. But Howie really can't get all the credit for Baun. Vic is the one who switched his position so he really gets the credit. Howie really had a stroke of really good luck once he botched the Jefferson miss.

He HAS to see the light.   If he doesn't, Vic might kill him.

Ojomo as many snaps as Milton.

Ojomo is a player and this isn't a slight at him, but for those who say he can step in next year and take over for Williams...look at what Williams did vs Ojomo with the same snaps. One guy was the best player on the field, the other was a nice rotational piece.

Milton Williams is a must. You can't let that homegrown talent walk away.

In more DAL sports fan news (aka misery), Anthony Davis got injured in his Mavs debut…out for four weeks probably. SMH.

Could be a big day for that 2018 draft class.

Goedert, Maddox, Sweat, Mailata.

Even Maddox showed up.

Unfortunately either Sweat or Williams will be leaving. I've been a big advocate for keeping Milton and drafting a DE in the 1st rd. Sweat made this decision harder after his performance. It's a loaded DT class and we still have Davis. I still want to see Williams back

Going by track records... I trust this organization to find another DT.  I do not trust them to find another LB.  I just don't.  So, pay Baun, he was a first team All-Pro, after all.  Plus, I think given his history, he may have a bit of a soft spot for playing here.  It was HERE and ONLY HERE that he was given this opportunity and his true talent was put on display.  I don't expect much in the way of a hometown discount, but I do expect that he would prefer to play here for Fangio than anywhere else.  He got a taste of what its like to be a true game changer.  I think he wants that as much as the money.   (Easy for me to say this... but... ) What's the difference between a 4 year, $60M contract and $40M guaranteed and a $80M contract and $55M guaranteed?  The real difference is only that extra $15M in guarantees, but he's more likely to see more of the money on the $60M here than $80M elsewhere.  I think Fangio just knows how to use him and maximize his talents... and Howie might be able to drop in some incentives to raise that for him a bit to make it more enticing here.  Just my two cents.

Flip side... DTs are getting crazy expensive.  CRAZY.  And Milton has never really tasted adversity professionally.  This is his first taste of free agency, and I think he wants to cash in and get a mega-deal.  He's earned it.  The Eagles won't be able to field an offer that remotely approaches what he's likely to get unless Howie has some crazy trick saved up his sleeve.

I think Williams ends up in the $24M+/year range. The Alim McNeal deal is likely the one to focus on as the mark for Williams, and that was 4 years, $97M.  The Super Bowl performance might have pushed Williams past McNeal, and he might get 4 years, $100M-$110M.  I don't see how the Eagles can match that.  I think Baun, on the open market, is looking at closer to $12M+/year.   Tremaine Edmunds' deal might be close to the mark. 4 years, $72M.  He'll likely get a little higher than that on the open market, but not a ton more, IMO.  I think the Eagles can offer very close to that and keep him here.

The last domino to drop will be Becton.  As a guard, he's likely in the $15+M/year range.  (Zach Martin is around $18M.). But, as an OT, he'd go up to about $25M/year.  I can see Howie working out a 2-way contract with him.  He gets the $15M area as RG, and has escalators for moving out to OT.  Best of both worlds... and he gets to compete for another Championship here.  He may be less swayed for the big money contract given that he already got a fairly lucrative rookie deal as a high first round pick AND he knows what its like to play for a loser organization.  I don't think he's willing to go back to that way of living.  Now, if a legit contender offers him big money... then he might jump.  For example, if the Chiefs or even Washington reach out... he might leave.  But, I get the sense that Becton and Baun return.  Williams just seems to be too rich.   Of those 3, he's the one with the greatest upside contract, AND has the most incentive to leave.  While playing here, he'll always be in Jalen Carter's shadow.

Yea, those are all solid points and the huge numbers I'm trying to ignore for the time being. I just want him back. The only thing I'll disagree with is the last statement about playing in Carters shadow. I think he might look at the tandem they can be and what they do for each other. Double teams for Carter mean more one-on-one for Williams. Then the more he dominates teams might double him and that opens up Carter one-on-one. They can be a freaking terror for years to come.

I’ve been meaning to ask this but figured I’d wait until after the SB. DeJean … we’re good with him staying at nickel right? He’s too good there to move him outside.

Absolutely keep him there. He is too valuable as the swiss army knife in Fangios scheme. Let rodgers ringo etc fight it out is slay is gone

+100yds on the Hurts-Mendoza line, despite the punt INT a great game for QB1.

Dropped dimes all game long, thoroughly outplayed Mahomes, and even outrushed Barkley on the way to the SB MVP. Not bad for a scumbag.

Maddox making that play was the most hilarious play of the SB. He didn't even cover well, but he was in position for a slightly off throw.

I'd love to keep Williams, but Baun is the more unique talent.

Taking a DT early in the would be an appropriate use of resources.  Letting Ojomo ascend into a larger role makes sense.

Finding another All-Pro, DPOY finalist at LB is close to impossible.

Still can’t believe how thorough an ass whooping that was last night. That game was over at halftime. We pulled our Fing starters in the Fing Super Bowl! 2018 was the most amazing day of my sports fan life but last night is a DAMN close 2nd.

I think slay and sweat are going to walk, it's just impossible to keep them.  I think the team is going to try to keep Williams and baun but it's going to be tough.  Have to replenish the DE in the draft.  Keeping Williams and barn means becton is gone as well.  good news is we will probably have some really good comp picks in the 2026 draft.  Roseman is going to have some tough decisions, maybe a shake up type trade to keep the energy up.
