Barkley deal seems like a no brainer. Extra cap space and he’s locked up. He’s not going to suddenly stink next year or the year after most likely.

The Eagles will carry their cap until June 1st, after that it splits over the 2 years and they get the flexibility. So basically you can't really utilize it during the initial FA period.

The player gets the benefit because they can sign with a team before June 1st and don't have to wait around and join a team late.

The only real immediate benefit the Eagles are getting is a good rep from it.

Today was the day I learned that the Steelers got the 1st overall pick to select Terry Bradshaw on a coin flip. 🪙
