Thinking about priorities for today. I'm interested to see if it involves a new or tweaked deal for Goedert now those 1st round picks have been made? Or if he is traded elsewhere

I am kind of curious if Howie goes all trade honey badger today and tries to parlay a pick or two into something lower down the draft.

Interesting point about Washburn being the point of contact not Booby King

I'll take any of them in the 2nd rd

insane. Crazy to think we just added a player of that caliber to the #1 defense. And you know what? There are still DTs and edge rushers out there. Safeties as well.

Norman-Lott next pick will have green bay making more rules against us. Not fair to the league.

Looking at Brugler's list of best players still available, setting aside the first six, five of whom we would love to have, but clearly are out of reach even for a trade up, we don't have a clear player of interest until 21. Watts ar 22 Scourton at 27, Alexander at 29, Revel at 30, Oladejo at 32, Williams at 34, Parrish at 35 and Sanders at 38 would all be solid additions to the Defense. For me Alexander, Oladejo, and Sanders are the ones I would most like to have. Day 2 looks like it will be just as much fun as Day One.

I like Nic Scourton's upside a lot. Only 20 years old, but already has a thick NFL ready body at 6'2" 260. ELITE bend, especially at his weight -- really has those ankles and low center of gravity to turn the corner. He's not a bad run defender by any stretch, but with his build and young age, I think he can get a lot stronger and become an excellent two way player. He won't be around late in round 2, but I could see us moving up for him if he drops into the 40's.

Oluwafemi is basically this year's Jalynx Hunt. Played LB until last year then moved to DE. Was a top 30 visit. Good size at 6'3" 260. Great athleticism, long arms, explosive, fluid, and can bend. Also can do a little bit dropping into coverage. More of a realistic target with a small trade up or maybe even at 64.

CB Darien Porter should be taken right around 64. Legitimately one of the greatest athleticism testers at CB ever, and he's fluid, not just a straight line speed guy. Big at 6'2". Former WR and has only played one year at CB. Old at 24. But the tools are there to be elite if you think you can coach him up and maximize the years you have him on that rookie deal before a tough call to re-sign him at 28.

Morrison and Revel both could slide because of injury concerns. Both would have likely been top 15 picks before they got injured. If you want to roll the dice on injuries, they could end up being CB1 level players.

Prince Umanmielen has good athleticism, speed, explosiveness, and length. Needs to add weight. Pass rush potential is great but might not ever be a high end run defender because of his build.

Bradyn Swinson, DE out of LSU, only has 1 year of top tier production, but the traits are there to be an excellent 2 way DE. 6'3" 255, long arms, can bend, explosive, has power, but needs some work.

Safety Nick Emmanwori is an absolute freak of a H/W/S athlete. 6'3" 220 4.3 speed, 43" inch vert, and he's fluid as well. Without exaggeration, might be the greatest physical specimen to ever play the position. Mocks had him in the first round because of that, but for a safety he needs a lot of work reading defenses so I think he could fall. At his best, think of a Sean Taylor type of player.

There are others, but these are the guys that come to mind.

Still at least a half dozen edge players I’d consider really good value in the 2nd, and maybe a few more CBs than I expected.

A recap of our collective thoughts on what is to come in Rounds 2 and 3 today. A lot of fun to think about. We need another @FranklinFldEBUpper count down.

The group I was with wanted to watch the ESPN broadcast. It was so freaking obnoxious how much coverage Sanders got last night. It even started in while the first pick was on the clock. So dumb.

Peacock has NFL Channel (not network) its guys from NFL Network but not their main broadcast. Bubby Brooks & a couple others. No drama or hype, actual analysis, highlights and team fit.

ESPN is the worst coverage.

The NFL Network were little better. They kept suggesting the Stillers would draft him. Then the trade up for the Gints. And were showing the Sanders on and off all night. If he was a can't miss prospect, I'd get it.

The draft coverage has officially lost me. All I want is to see the picks along with highlights and a breakdown of the new team fit. Can't wait to see the parade of people announcing picks the rest of the draft!

Oh and like clockwork, commercial before the Eagles pick last night. Gotta be a record.

NFL Network is way better than ESPN... but neither is what they once were. One of my favorite parts of the draft back in the day was the distain that you could see building up inside Mayock as the 'carnival' started to encroach on the football. He embodied my mood... and it was great to see that on display without any reservations.

At least with the Giants it was a move up for a QB... so it wasn't forcing it. But if his last name was 'Smith' rather than 'Sanders' this wouldn't be the circus it is. BUT, Sanders has always made things about the circus. I'd want to steer clear of him just for that reason alone. He's not good enough, IMO, to deal with the circus that will come with him, especially to come in as a backup QB. nonono

That is because Kiper was talking about Sanders being taken at pick 1. When Ward went, as everyone knew he would Kiper had Sanders as his best available player all night long. He was in shock. I thought it was really funny.

He just be very embarrassed.

I’m not saying that could not happen eventually but that’s only if he doesn’t work out at Edge, imo.

Like @eagle45 said - as much as everyone may think Howie/The Eagles love the LB position all of a sudden by picking a LB in the 1st round - they still value Edge highly - likely enough to pursue making Campbell an Edge, imo. I’d be surprised if that’s not the case.

I think the difference now is that in Vic’s scheme the MIKE has the opportunity to blitz a lot or at least should be a threat through simulated pressure. You are getting to use those edge traits but from the middle of the field (likewise our edge players are expected to have some quasi LB coverage skills). So, rather than have Campbell gain 15lbs and project him to edge with that specialized skill set - he can focus Day 1 on improving upon the foundation that he built at BAMA.

Why trade for Honey Badger when you can sign Simmons with no trade capital cost?

Is it a stretch to think that with Baun and Campbell we have two SAMs and no WILL and no MIKE?

Maybe I didn’t notice it as much but they seem to be laying off the trauma stories. "Congrats to this guy for getting drafted… let us tell you about the worst day in his life when his mother OD’d and best friend got murdered”

Watched the draft at a neighborhood bar with the sound turned down. It doesn’t seem like I missed much w/o the commentary. Saw Vince Papale though, that was cool.

Mel is glad to take the attention no matter how it comes.

I think he just meant "dont give an F” mode

Not honey badger himself

Sure, we have 2 LBs who are essentially on the field the whole game. I think having them be interchangeable is a good thing - but Nakobe/Trot don’t have those tools (Campbell does, and Vic is the right guy to develop them).

"Who in the hell is Mel Kiper, anyway?" Classic draft moment!!!

Agreed 100%

Count 4 Safeties and 8 Edges that could go in the 2nd, hopefully we get one of them.

Kiper had to be on the take from the Sanders family. That was embarrassing.

I think we are down to three 3T-type DTs, that I like in the 2nd… they might get snapped up.

If the Eagles truly see Campbell as an edge who can play LB, should we be devoting more valuable resources to edge?
