I agree. Plus, they have to have eight edge guys just to get through TC and pre-season.

Eight at a minimum. You don’t want to wear them out in TC and PS. Plus, Smith is still rehabbing from a torn pec so you don’t have five able bodies right now; you have four. And by the time you get to PS games you have pretty good idea of what you have. You give those guys a few reps and then put in the cannon fodder.

Really good point @T-1000 and @Diehardfan i apologize for being so myopic. I am now all for signing a vet Edge. My bad. You guys were right.

Pulling for APR to make a Jaylx type leap this year. That would be a legit Edge rotation. Think Ojulari will reinvent himself here too.

The APR hype is a bit much but I do like Ojularis potential

Everyone and their mother knew that the Commies were going to get curb stomped. As soon as we knew the matchup i said we would win by 40, the Rams were the toughest team in the playoffs besides us. Once we got by them no one was stopping that train

False.

My neighbor, a Commies fan, was chirping leading up to the game.

Tried to listen to the Philly Special pod for the first time in over a month and couldn't make it more than halfway through. That producer Cliff is so awful and Sheil always tries to force him on talking way too much.

Albert Breer talking on Bill Simmons about east the players union might ask for in return of 18 game seasons and he brought up rookie contracts only bring 3 years instead of 4 so players can get to free agency quicker.

That'd be rough from a team building perspective. You lose a year kf that rookie deal and 0retty much once you have developed a player they are gone.

Also from a rookies perspective, yeah the ones that are really good early on this benefits but I would think for most losing that 4th year gaunrateed pay is more harm than good. Most players I wpuls guess do not sign a second deal in the NFL.

I thought Huff would be effective in a rotational edge rush role with lower snaps and lower expectations…almost the exact depth we actually need this year.

But it’s abundantly clear the Eagles and Fangio would rather have Jake Elliott set the edge than Bryce Huff. Maybe he’ll fit better back with Saleh and achieve respectability, but I wouldn’t expect explosive success.

I haven’t always been a Howie fan boy, but we are all there now. At this point, anything that shakes the nfl up, forces gm’s to adjust, and sets franchise building on a new path and curve….probably an advantage for the Eagles considering that Howie will be charting that course.

3 year rookie deals will devalue draft picks relative to cap dollars and free agency.

And players aren’t going to make more money. The NFL owners are too smart for that. The instant studs will get what they want…their mega deals 1 year sooner.

Everyone else will be 1 year less established and, on average, will be getting marginally cheaper deals because they’ll likely have only one good season on their resume.

In NY huff was rushed as a wide 9 most of the time and I assume Saleh will probably use him the same, In contrast Vic doesnt rush his Edges from wide 9 that much.

Bad evaluation by Howie and Co. Oh well glad they are able to trade him as its not a total loss.

What is with this trend of people wildly overrating Mcnabb? He is the primary reason Andy never won a ring here

You are correct it would be a significant change. Howie and Jeff have shown themselves to be very adept at adjusting to, and even capitalizing on change, so I would expect the Eagles would gain even more of an edge over the other 31 teams.

Regarding guaranteed money, do you have a guess of how many of the 250+ Draftees get such a guarantee. I would suspect it is very few. For most Draftees the only guaranteed money is in their Signing Bonus and Year One payments.

Roster building would indeed be harder. Players like Milton Williams and Isaac Seumalo are clear examples of the player development timeline.

Well said

What is it called when Antwaun Powell Ryland gets a contract extension?

APR financing.

If you compare the roster composition between the McNabb era and the Hurts era, one is generational and one isn't. The other is good to very good, but had way more flaws in it.

This isn't to dunk on Hurts at all, but McNabb would go up a notch with the recent SB winning roster.

My recollection is that Fangio had his edges rush a lot from the wide-9 in the Super Bowl. I’ll have to look it up.

I am not convinced about that. I understand the logic behind your point, but some QBs are gamers at the right time… And some seem to shrink a little bit under the big lights.

I kind of look at Dak as the Cowboys version of McNabb. Really good at times, but there’s something not there when really needed

I thought they did too a little bit… And why not if you know your opponent is not going to really try to run the ball at all

That and his stubborn refusal to give McNabb a good receiver in his early years
