EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

So if the Eagles fire Nick does anyone think he will have success any other place? Seriously, the people saying he should stay I'd love to know. Will he be an OC again? Not unless an owner is mentally insane, so maybe Dallas. Will he make the playoffs every year with another team? Not unless another amazing GM has a coaching vacancy. We saw yesterday he does less with more not more with less, so no he won't. Why does he have to stay then? Because of optics? Let's admit it he's a damn clown, but people think nobody else can step into that situation and do better? That he's the only one capable of making it work with Howie and Vic? Screw that. He won't make it any other place because it's the organization not anything he's doing.

Been saying this all season. @AmericanEagle77 can answer all these questions for you. He believes in Siri

Still blows my mind this was allowed to happen for an entire season.

Lurie should be turning every page with Sirianni. I want him asking him what his vision of this team truly is. They went the entire season "without an identity". I want a list of potential OC's and position coaches with OC potential. They can't continue to have a revolving door at OC. I want Lurie asking him why he stuck with KP the entire season when it was clear as day in the first part of the season that he wasn't the answer. He needs to make sure he's accountable for the failure this season was and make sure he has a plan beyond just firing KP.

If Nick can't do all of that, of if Lurie isn't confident in the way Nick Responds, show him the door.

Those are the same things we said after 2023. And they'll do the same thing: hire an OC with experience.

McDaniel put up 35-33 regular season with no playoff wins and went 5-20 against play off teams across 4 years, 3 of them with Tyreek, Waddle and Achane and one of them with Fangio as DC, tell me again what an offensive genius he is.

McDaniel is the signal example of actually not anyone can win with a stacked roster and good coordinators argument.

Imo Tua is an average Qb. But i felt that way when he came out i didn’t like the injury he had nor did i think he’d translate in the nfl to being a great QB. That said i like Mcdaniels as an OC. But curious if he and sirianni would mesh if we want to stay conservative on offense. Feels like that dolphins offense was anything but conservative. do think McDaniels will utilize Barkley out of the backfield as a pass catcher more often.

Forget speed at WR, with the league going to 2 safety shells, the deep pass is harder to complete.

The receivers that give defenses the yips are guys with average to above average speed, above average quickness, above average body control who can make sharp cuts at full speed and have good size (not great, but solid, 6'0 205 or so) and strong, reliable hands. Nacua.

These are the guys who can run the whole stem, consistently make catches in traffic and get you YAC.

Brown used to be one of those guys, though he was never a great route runner and has always had inconsistent hands. This season he regressed in routes, hands and YAC. I don't think he's elite anymore.

I want a more balanced offense with an OC who can take advantage of his roster, instead of trying to run everything through 2 or 3 players.

They need 2 solid (not stars) TEs, one a full sized TE who can block in-line, one a H-back who's a better receiver than Calcaterra and who can block on the second level. Just solid reliable options that allow you to pass out of 2 TE formations. Chad Lewis was slow (5.0) but was still a solid receiving TE who found soft spots in zones - his limitation was blocking, had the size but not the strength. Witten was the prototype in-line TE who was also a great receiver. Ertz the prototype H-back.

LOL, somebody raising their kid the right way! He's that kid that grows up way too fast that wants to hang out in the garage and watch the games with dad and dad's bros, maybe sneak a beer or two.

Sounds like Hurts wants KP gone and AJ back.

He said he trusts...HOWIE. Then said Howie, Nick, Mr. Lurie.

Telling.

We know Hurts has never liked Patullo, he was asked about him getting the OC job and was clearly not happy last year.

I think leading the league in rushing attempts by a wide margin took more of a toll than the tush push. But I still agree that play is doing the offense no favors. It was great while it lasted but it's over.

Don't disagree that the major rushing attempts had an effect as well. But that's one violent play. Even Kelce commented on that play being physically taxing. They ran it 48 times in 2024. This could all be cumulative wear and tear as well in running the play.

Who was it, Eli Stowers that was getting the Orunde Gadsen comparisons...

Really really good receiving talent at TE...

DUMB AND DUMBER with another masterclass in offensive playcalling!

Sheil pointed this out on their podcast a couple weeks back saying when they go under center they were 82% run for the season. So they decided to up it yesterday and go 100% roll

I thought it was funny when TB was talking about how you might have 70 plays installed into the gameplan... not this team.

Hurts is advocating for AJ Brown and dodging questions about Patullo.

What about AJ........Hurts laughs

This was my fault guys. If I go, we lose.

We want to be 100% predictable

I feel like we are stuck in a time loop. Chip had only so many plays and became predictable. Doug and the offense (besides wentz becoming crap) we discussed predictability (videos on X showing it). We’ve entered it in this era now.

One of the few things they are consistent with on offense

Congrats you’ve joined me in cursing them. I once went to 18 consecutive Phillies, eagles and sixers games in Arizona and saw them lose every single one. Amazing they had won when i saw them elsewhere tho

It's been like this for a while.

Sirianni is a meat head - great cheerleader - nothing more than that.

But we really DO HAVE the some of the most talented players in the NFL.

We won the Super Bowl last season thanks to Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio - the MVP's of this team.

I think in the old days a bunch of whatsuppers used to tail gate together.

I remember a story about a cowboy fan and a plastic fork?

I think the most interesting area for improvement could come from WR3. Dotson didn’t really give us anything. We don’t pass a lot, so he dint make much of a difference as a pass catcher. He’s not super fast, so he doesn’t push coverage back. He’s not great at breaking NG tackles, so he’s not a threat on screens. And he’s not a world beating blocker, so he doesn’t give us juice in the run game.

Depending on who we bring in at OC, this is a place that could make a difference. If Wilson recovers we have our blocking WR, so I’d look for someone with game breaking speed. Someone who can impact how the defense plays against us without being a high usage player.

I'm going to disagree here. The reason he didn't give them anything is because they don't throw to WR3. Dotson is a great unknown. He's probably happy he got a ring, but pissed he hasn't been used the right way for 2 years. Most teams would be knocking down the door for a WR3 like Dotson. He has more than enough juice to get downfield. The Eagles have no idea how to run screens so we can't hold that against him either. Until there's a change at QB1, WR3 can be anyone.
