I see the Saints brought in Delp in the 3rd, and Cody Hardy as UFA - that’s the tandem I like if they were looking to improve the run game rather than this new model offense.

Thinking about the international pathway players. How did they determine the positions for each player?

Why is Bernard a DT instead of a supersized edge rusher with elite athleticism? With his speed, explosion and long arms, couldn’t he be a helluva edge who wins with speed and power? Is DT easier to learn than edge?

The other guy is a former rugby player that was signed as an edge. I thought maybe he’d make a good tight end prospect, but Zierlein probably made a good case for edge in his write up: "He was very fluid in his workout, with loose hips and quick feet. He’s a natural bender with excellent speed and rare explosiveness in his hips.”

With Bernard's agility numbers being "below average", I wouldn't expect him to have as much success on the edge as he might have inside. A powerful yet somewhat stiff athlete seems to project better to defensive tackle where his movements can be more "one way".

I think that's the biggest difference between Bernard and Mailata. Mailata looked incredibly fluid for a person of his stature. I remember watching some of his pre-draft workouts (after the Eagles drafted him of course, not before) and just marveling at his knee bend. I also recall someone (not sure who) yesterday commenting that Bernard doesn't seem to bend his knees that well.
