Q, Cooper, Davis and Carter are who I want to build my D around.

I don't think Philips is in that league - I'd take the 3rd or 4th comp pick for him next year and move on

Unless Howie is looking at a 2 year deal for JP that he can easily get out of after that time - I could see the rationale in that.

I wonder which Eagles FA will be first off the board tomorrow once tampering opens.

My guess is Nakobe to Cowboys is announced within the first hour. I could also see Blankenship being a surprise day 1 big signing for some other team.

Philips one way or the other I think is determined by the end of the tampering period.

I think I'm just numb to outrage these days. No matter what the Eagles do I'll try to look on the bright side until the games are played. It's definitely not that I'll probably 'agree' with every move it's just that I'm just at a point where acting like Howie ran over your dog because he paid a few million more a year for someone than you'd have done is kinda old.

Ok. They traded for him because Hunt amd Smith wasn't enough. What is your plan to not end up there again?

Howie holding firm on the AJ price is great.

The only way we can afford all these defensive players is trading Jalen Hurts.

Hurts has a no trade clause and no reason for him to waive it.

The offense is going to be a lot of rookie deals within thr next 2 years. The only players I could see making big money on offense in 1-2 years is Hurts, DeVonte and Mailata. I wouldn't be surprised if within 1-2 years Mailata ks the only starter along the offensive line that isn't on a rookie deal.

Comp pick 2027 and a draft pick 2026. Its really not that complicated

If you can only sign 4, who would you rather drop instead?

But to answer your question, you'd sign a vet FA and have to hit on a high (Day 2) draft pick. I'll prioritise pressure up the middle over pressure from the edges and build from there.

Why can't we ever have a drama free offseason?

That doesn't answer who replaces him at edge when Smith and Hunt weren't enough. Some unnamed pick isn't cutting it

If I were Howie I’d call the Patriots bluff too. Have fun paying Alec Pierce close to $30M per year whose half the player Brown is

Neither was Phillips. And definitely not at 20m+

Sounds like they had some in depth negotiations on how to make it work.

I'd love to see someone break down player contracts, over the last 30 years, as a percentage of the salary cap. The numbers look increasingly eye-popping, but that needs to be grounded against the increasing cap.

Curious to see if rookie deals are a larger or smaller % of the cap than they used to be.
