Seemed like a good, fun dude. But he was an obvious shot term bandaid from the jump and a comp pick play with too many higher priority deals ongoing and on deckIt doesn’t matter that you see him as a bandaid. Obviously the Eagles didn’t, which is why they were trying really hard to re-sign him until the Panthers made an outrageous offer that was unreasonable, even for a core piece.

He's a very solid dependable player at a position they've struggled mightily to evaluate over the years and right now they don't have a single proven safety on the entire roster. People are just penciling in Mukuba as a starter next season and yes he'll be one, but he was pretty average as a rookie and is coming off a serious injury. Sydney Brown is hot garbage. Mukuba may not be any good. So it's possible we don't have a single safety right now worth their salt and we let a guy go we know could at least play.I'm less frustrated with Howie and more just generally frustrated that the Eagles have a ton of needs and I just don't know how they can adequately address them all with their picks and limited cap space. They have a massive need at Edge. Nolan and Hunt are not a starting Edge duo on a contending team. They have a massive need at safety. Need at least one, maybe two if Mukuba isn't any good. They have no TEs at all on the roster except Jenkins. If they trade AJ they have a massive and desperate need at WR.Badly need OT and OG depth.Need a CB2.Do I think it's bad on Howie for not signing Phillips and Blankenship? No. But that doesn't change the reality that you just added two massive needs to the already-existing list of needs with limited cap space to address it all in addition to the picks you have. He's got a tough road ahead of him and I'd feel a little better about it if I didn't put my faith in him last offseason and his strategy was dumpster dive for a bunch of dudes and pray some of them worked out. Btw maybe if he did a better job last offseason he wouldn't have needed to blow valuable picks for Phillips, Fred, Bigsby and we'd have even more picks right now to address our needs. In some ways, he's still paying the price for the Bryce Huff signing. Wouldn't be chasing edges if he had gone with Greenard instead.

March 10Mar 10 It tells you something that all 3 eagles defensive starters are off the board day 1, even Blankenship, but Goedert is still available.

Its peak misinformation season with both agents and teams putting PR spin on everything. Its ok to be wrong about a player/plan. We are all prone to get emotionally attached to them. For example i think there is no good reason to trade AJ. Only time will tell.

That’s well-documented. That doesn’t change the fact that the Eagles traded a 3 for him and by all accounts made an aggressive offer to retain him. You want to ignore the reports, so be it, but don’t pretend that makes you right.

March 10Mar 10 For me, this isn't all Howie, it's his damn boss. Mr yacht owner. It's his wallet, Howie can only go as far as that thing opens. If Lurie is setting very very tight parameters what is Howie supposed to do.

March 10Mar 10 I would've absolutely brought in AVT for 15 mil per year. That's not bad at all for a potential pro bowl guard who's 26

If this is the case, AJ deserves all the hate in the world for forcing his way out now and creating a failed offseason for us.
