How much of that is Watsons hideous contract that screwed over the entire league?

Do you still think it's a smart move if he's injured and not able to play?

What if this, what if that? Today it's still a smart move.

It's mostly all driven by Watson.

BTW...the Eagles were first in this study from 2015-2019.

Any implication that Lurie is a cheap owner is ridiculous.

He was thought to maybe be an option via trade or if released. One fewer option for the Eagles.

I don't understand your vague replies.

I don't really agree with Zach framing that Howie is avoiding that range by design. It's just naturally is what will happen when you have so many players paid at the top of their position. You can't pay everyone so you need to supplement your roster with low cost vets or rookies while you have those big contracts on the books.

I think there's also the reality that players like TJ Edwards and Reed are getting overpaid in the market because of the team success of the Eagles.

What about Darius?

Back to the needs list. Where do we need Pro Bowl level talent? TE? It would be nice to have quality at CB3, S, and Edge3. Point being, there is already sufficient, high-level talent on the roster. More would be better, but not vital.

I trust Howie and Vic to put together the defense. It's TE and OL that concern me right now.

A third Edge

A starting CB

A starting S

An entire TE room

A #3 WR

A punter

A long snapper

Some OL depth

3rd QB

I'm not referring to last season, I'm talking about next season.

yeah, the playoff game is the one that sticks out the most. but those mistakes get magnified over all the other plays. I think he'll be greatly missed in the end.

Understood.

Not a baseball fan but the biggest sports news yesterday is the USA beating Mexico in the World Baseball Classic. usa

Thoughts for day 2:

  • I think it's likely we do a deal with Goedert today and push off some of his $20mm in dead money. Maybe save ~8mm by getting his cap number in the ~12mm range. The fact that we haven't heard about him talking to other teams while TEs get signed makes me think they are close to bringing him back.

  • Feels like Chubb is the target at DE whenever Miami gets around to releasing him. Played for Vic, shouldn't be more than $20mm AAV and likely a 2 or 3 year deal only.

  • Not sure what we do at CB2 or S. Deep draft class at S, so maybe we roll with Mukuba, Carter, Epps and Brown into the draft

I'd say starting Edge rather than a third Edge. Nolan and Hunt are not starters on a championship team. We saw that last season. This pass rush was abysmal until they traded for Phillips. Whatever Edge they bring in needs to be "the guy" whether it's a signing, draft pick, or trade. If not, I think the pass rush is going to probably suck again next season. Starting Edge in my estimation is the single biggest need on the roster right now.

Miami has to wait until tomorrow because they are designating him post June 1st

Coop and Wilson along with a rookie should be able to fill WR3/4 if they don't move Brown. Good list though. I'd add swing T. That's one of my biggest concerns.

Wondering if the dolphins are holding with the belief that the pass rush market dries up the might get a pick for him. Doubtful

Of course. The Lurie doesn't spend money is so silly it wasn't even worth responding to

Sounds like Eagles are low balling Goedert and holding firm

Funny, everyone says Jerry is cheap too, DAL ranked 6th…Jerry isn’t cheap, he’s just incompetent. Doesn’t know how to spend his money to maximize the on field product. I think he just enjoys kicking himself(and DAL fans) square in the nuts every chance he gets.

CB2 is probably take a flier on a super cheap guy(Diggs or Lattimore or Adoree again?) plus a draft pick.

Edge I think will be Chubb or Greenard.

Berman says he thinks Goedert is gone if he gets 10-13m AAV but less than that he thinks that is the Eagles price range.

I think Michael Carter gets a shot at playing safety. I hope they keep Epps and I think they will draft a player.

I really wouldn't hate Adoree back for 3 million or less, and then draft someone as well. Not sure about Diggs, and just no bid for Lattimore.
