If the offense flops in the first half of the season, we'll all be glad they didn't overdo it with bad contracts that weren't making a difference anyway. If the offense takes off, they'll have immense capital (and some cap room to maneuver) at the trade deadline to patch the holes and get the team over the top. With Hurts, Brown, Jurgens (etc) contracts having natural off points next year, would make a lot of sense to transition the team on in the 2-27 draft.

And if they are a mess, we'll be very happy they are less hindered in embracing that transition.

My problem with Reed was that he was making uncharacteristic mistakes, which was very much not his game.I'm not referring to last season, I'm talking about next season.yeah, the playoff game is the one that sticks out the most. but those mistakes get magnified over all the other plays. I think he'll be greatly missed in the end.

Those were the only two games he went over 100 yards and most other games he was in the 45-65 yards/game range.
March 10Mar 10 I'm not a big Omar Cooper Jr fan. Solid player, but not a #1 guy and any time you take a WR in round 1 you hope for #1 WR upside.

Just remember how you were OK with going the cheaper route when you're constantly yelling at Reed's replacement for getting burnt, or missing a tackle, lolExactly. Last year people were also down on Mukuba as a rookie learning on the job. People criticized Dean a lot, and Reed especially last year. Now anytime their replacements make one mistake some fans will compare them to the positive highlight reels of the players that left and complain we should have kept them.

Eight million/year for that? Too much. There are some talented safeties in this draft and I like Mukuba. The best defense in the league with one of the best defensive coaches wanted him for a reason

If Lurie is setting very very tight parameters what is Howie supposed to do.You are aware there's a cap, yes? Howie is very very good but eventually he's gonna have to play within the rules.

It would have to be someone head and shoulders BPA that falls to them imo.
March 10Mar 10 Berman thinks the Eagles didn't match that number for Blankenship because he thinks they just don't want to spend much of anything at safety this offseason so they can save money for other things and it wasn't that they didn't value Blankenship.(Although I guess to an extent it does because if they consider him a blue chip player they'd have matched it so they obviously don't)

I’m guessing with the class being strong they take one 3rd round or 4th. Imo besides Mukuba who may or may not work out, they don’t have anyone young that can move there besides DeJean. They keep saying they don’t want to do that with him. So if that’s true they should draft one between rounds 2-5 to groom

Imo might get better or similar value from them and potentially (likely) pay them less than Reed

And his contract just blew him out of the water. Frankly, it's a terrible deal for a guy who is a 50/50 shot to be healthy and is overwhelmingly likely to simply be a nice, balanced DE that doesn't disrupt the QB that much.In a way, I'm almost disappointed the Eagles were as motivated as they were to keep him.Well, since you focused on sacks. 3:for Graham in half a season and 11 pressures versus Philips 5 sacks. Philips 819 snaps v Graham 113 snaps.
