Chubb is the plan, but they need Miami to release him at the start of the new year.

A 2 and a future later pick would be likely. For his standards he had a bad year. He had a lot of crucial drops/lacking effort plays, and isn’t able to handle or control himself enough to avoid media narratives and negative attention.

WRs aren’t a premium draft pick position. Pickens and a 5th for a 3rd and 4th last year. And that’s not with a massive contract and a much younger and more dynamic player.

No - as @LeanMeanGM pointed out, you can't release someone before the start of the league year and designate a post June 1 cut. So he will be released tomorrow at the start of the league year.

Teams are allowed to release two players prior to June 1 (but on or after the first day of the League Year) while still using this designation and getting the same cap treatment

I preferred a trade for chubb over Philips but at this point it's still a little underwhelming.

Greenard is better I wanted him in free agency and I want him now.

It seems crazy to simply let Goedert's contract expire and tag $20m of dead cap onto this years cap balance, and then have to add another TE (or two) onto that cap number either by trade or draft...unless, of course, it is by design, and Howie simply wants to 'rip the plaster off' and get rid of a bunch of dead cap (AJ and Goedert) in one fell swoop in 2026, and start 2027 with a total clean slate...

I guess we will find out later today...

I wonder what it would take to get Greenard. Under contract for $19mm for the next 2 years, but none of it is guaranteed. Guessing he'll want a contract adjustment - maybe guarantee 2026 comp at a minimum.
