Woolen is a big name who has had an uneven start to his career but has a lot of upside. He is also a MUCH better CB than the names we all thought they would be looking at (Diggs, Latimore, Adore). I'm still not in love with the signing but having Q, Woolen, and Coop might be the best trio of starting corners in the league.

He needs coaching up because he takes some boneheaded penalties, even in SEA playoff games. Certainly worth taking a swing on.

Tuesday at 10:50 PM5 days Woolen is a ball magnet very good in coverage. Definitely concerns about him tackling, but I'll take it after watching a season of dudes who can't cover for crap. I think Howie Roseman every offseason identifies their "Blue chip-ish" players and are willing to spend money(if they have it) to add those players. The fact that this move came at CB rather than Edge tells me guys like Oweh were not in that blue chip list and when Phillips left they pivoted to Woolen.Honestly, I'd probably rather have Chubb and Woolen than just Phillips. And definitely would rather have Goedert/Njoku, Chubb, and Woolen than just Phillips. This also tells me despite people thinking Adoree played better the second half of the season, Fagio/the Eagles never warmed to him. There's a reason they brought in Jaire and put a claim in for Slay. I think they hoped for either to supplant Adoree at CB2. And Ringo is pretty much done here, wouldn't be shocked to see if Howie can find a player for player trade involving him to address another position.

Tuesday at 10:50 PM5 days I was one of the ones that wanted Woolen in the draft when he wasn't a super popular name. His career has been up and down so far, but I like this signing a lot.Goedert, Chubb and Brisker would make this an awesome off-season in my book.

Tuesday at 10:53 PM5 days So Woolen is an upgrade to anyone we had at CB2 last year and he's expected to be a starter, right? That's a lot better than last year throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. Also was drafted when Clint Hurtt was their Defensive Coordinator so there's some familiarity there.
Tuesday at 10:56 PM5 days Going into last year our biggest position concern was CB2. Woolen secures that spot and strengthens the secondary. Re-sign Epps for a "safe" veteran at safety and draft a safety in what's supposed to be a strong class, and that's a pretty good secondary. Sign Chubb at Edge, extend Carter and the defense should be set before the draft.

This one move totally changes the dynamic of the off-season for the defense. If they can get Chubb or Greenard and just bring back Epps the defense is looking very good heading into the draft. If they were able to get a Brisker or Cross, even better.
Tuesday at 11:02 PM5 days One thing that's really interesting about Howie's approach is he's not afraid to make changes that essentially admit his mistakes, and not afraid to shake things up. Let Goedert walk and sign another TE (and hopefully draft one), he talked in interviews about his lessons learned about the TE group and blocking ability vs receiving, learn from mistake at CB2 last year and sign Woolen, let popular players leave in free agency and stick to the plan of extending key core players. Makes me think about the O line health and what he'll do to make sure the O line isn't an issue this year.

I'm fine with bringing back Goedert but would actually prefer an entirely brand new group of three. Njoku on a one year deal and a blocking specialist that only costs 2-3 million would be ideal.
Tuesday at 11:06 PM5 days Seattle had 5 taunting penalties called on them last year and Woolen had 3 of them...
