Maybe Fangio doesn't want these guys.

Also, you complain they're going to be stuck with bargain bin players then complain when other teams sign players on bargain bin deals because Howie should have done that deal... wacko

You can say Crosby is also looming out there.

If our last line of defense is to be weak, our front line may as well be elite.

Crosby Carter and Davis with our corners would give us the same attitude towards safety that Howie has right now 😂 I don’t see it happening , but I never saw Saquon happening (Til we didn’t re-sign Swift and RB was a glaring weakness)

Jones is an odd signing. A sign Carter will play safety?

Good reminder that there are sometimes players signed in March that later get cut in August. Not every band aid cheap free agent automatically means something bigger at another position or draft plans.

The question is what is their big move or was Woolen it?

Greenard is looming out there. At least we’ll find out status of TE tomorrow

Who said there would be a "big move?"

The draft is the big move, the primary way to build a team. The big moves are extending their stud homegrown draft picks. Davis was one.

There would be no excuse for this. This is beyond "we have no room to sign anyone" this would just be pure arrogance. Arrogant Eagles virtually always get burned. Can't remember the last time they completely neglected a position and try to skate by unscathed where it didn't bite them colossally in the ass. Most recently tried to do it at LB in 2023 and it absolutely killed them.

Carter was a S in college and has NCB skills. We have no idea how the S training went that I mentioned earlier. Kind of premature to state Brisker, for example, (ugh) will be better.

Fans the last 6 months: Reed isn't very good, let him walk. It's a deep draft class at safety, can draft someone better.

Fans since Reed signed with Texans: Howie WTF are you doing? Sign a free agent, you can't rely on a rookie draft pick!

wacko

They'll sign Epps and draft someone. Woolen is an upgrade at CB2, strengthening the secondary overall.

My biggest concern on defense is Edge, which Howie has been working on. Can also draft an Edge.

No matter what, they need to draft at least one edge in this draft if it's as deep as people say. They need to get ahead of Smith/Hunt going into the final year of their rookie deals next year with prices going as nuts as they are.

They may draft at positions that are the strength of this draft, even if it means waiting on certain positions in 2027 draft.

That makes sense on multiple levels

Howie is missing on the 1 year gems like Becton and Baun. That's what made that team. Still have a whole offseason at least. Signed Becton late. And Baun pretty early IIRC.

No one thought they'd be that good for us at the time though. And both changed positions upon getting here too, so we doubly had no reason to be super optimistic about them at this stage 2 years ago.

Six (!) void years

@LeanMeanGM did I miss something? Did they mean 6 year contract with 4 void years?

We didn't know. True. But Fangio and Stout had a hunch. When you have low cap space, we need to find these low cost gems to fill up the roster and eventually hit. I'll add Rodgers to that list as well. Feel like we slipped on that front last year. And hope that Howie can get that groove back this year. I haven't given up yet. Long offseason to go here.

Howie isn’t always right but he always makes move that at least have a shot on paper. More is coming for sure

Howie gets too cute sometimes. That is stupid not to sign him for

Wait til after the draft

Something’s off. You can only spread up to 5 years so I’m not sure what the 6 void years means unless they have a dummy year to post June 1st him which isn’t technically a void year and then have 5 void years tacked on top of that.

Howie's been trying at the Edge position, so he's aware and wants an upgrade but looking for the right price

Surprised Goedert isn’t done yet. Given they extended the deadline tomorrow and how badly TE is a need, if they are unable to get something done by tomorrow it’s not gonna look great.

Yes, he uses Coop as the outside and inside Apex A LOT. There are even disguises within that utilization. Pre snap, he is inside Apex and post snap he is in Zone. Thats what it appeared led to the pick 6 in the superbowl. Totally confused Mahomes. Now, I don’t know if he was supposed to break Apex responsibility on the play by design or if he just read it and made a play. But if it was by design, that was brilliant by Vic, if not, brilliant by Coop.

It’s insane how good Coop is. I said it at least 3-4 times a game last year, there’s nothing more beautiful than watching him diagnose, orient, attack and if needed angle to break down and perfect form tackle. The dude’s got the OODA loop skill of a fighter pilot.
