Y'all wanted guys who could be cheap 1 year signings who could be gems ala Becton and Baun so we can afford to sign our young talent long term? Arnold and Riq fit the bill. Low risk, high reward. Still gotta draft well but still, like it.

No one will be satisfied until there’s an all-pro in every position

The beauty of Woolen is that the bar has been set so low with the CB2 talent we had last season, that it's almost a guaranteed upgrade. I kind of felt that way about safety if Howie had hit on just one of these solid vet safeties. Just need someone functional that won't be a total flaw that an offense can pick on. Epps Is a nice 3rd safety. Don't think he's the answer as a starter on a Superbowl defense. Safety is now urgent. At least DE now has some potential and upside in all 3 guys and can build on that group with the draft.

I still think they need to do better at edge rusher and it's a more important position. That being said, safety might have been a bigger concern before the Ebiketie signing. At this point it's not even close. Hunt really came on during the second half of the season and has massive upside. Nolan Smith is a frustrating player mainly because he can't stay healthy but the ability is there. Ebiketie was an early 2nd round pick who had back to back 6 sacks seasons in year two and three of his career. BG is 10,000 years old but he can still contribute. There is at least a viable path to them being really good there and will probably at least be adequate.

You look at safety and they have next to nothing. This position could be an absolute disaster in 2026. Mukuba showed some promise as a rookie but he was very inconsistent. You have to play him and see what he is bu the is FAR from a sure thing. Sydney Brown is a terrible safety who shouldn't even be on the roster. That's it, that is all they have. Bringing back Epps AND signing another similar level vet OR drafting a safety no later than the 3rd round is the bare minimum they need to do. This position is a massive massive concern and after watching them swing and miss on so many safeties in recent years (Sydney Brown, Terrell Edmunds, Justin Evans, Anthony Harris, etc) it's getting old watching them de-value the position.

Hyperbole much?

I feel like after a season where the pass rush a big problem (so much so that they had to trade for Phillips mid season), it's pretty reasonable to not be thrilled that they're running it back with the same people plus some bottom tier FA

I am satisfied...we are quietly filling postions of need with non-trash players(unless they turn out to be trash)...No big names is just fine with me as it draws less attention

Pass rushing is one of the most important things you need on a team. We lost our difference matter and replaced him with a guy who had two sacks last year.. We really need help on offense now because the defense is going to be nowhere as dominant this year.

Id settle for an edge rusher who had more than two sacks last year.

That’s not good enough most likely. And even if they draft a guy at 23 he’s not likely to be a high sack guy. Yes it did happen last year with psycho Hanes Pearce but that’s not common

If it is cold, the sack will be high.

Fine with Arnold, provided we take an edge early in the draft or acquire another solid vet in FA. He’s a perfectly fine rotational DE.

Yup. Greenard was going to cost a Day 2 draft pick and want a fat, new contract. You’re always better off drafting your own Greenard

Prefer to draft better than Greenard

Incorrect. Jacksonwas absolutely not better last year. Further the contract is loaded with incentives.

Correct…if you watch him and not just parrot stats you’ll see he was pretty bad the past 2 seasons. Again there is a reason he was on the trade block, lost his job to Jobe and only got a 1 year deal.

Also, my understanding is the contract is $12m with up to 15 with incentives? No?

We will see how it goes, h is going to have a way better back 7 supporting cast, but there is a night and day difference between the Eagles and Seattle

So I'm to believe your amazingly trained eye from watching YouTube clips over folks that watched him extensively since he was a rookie and the stats? Righhhht. Again Jackson was no way near better. Stop.

Eric Gentry pro day results. Hes the 6'6'' LB from USC. Actually pretty much 6'7''

6'6 5/8'' 228lb

35 3/4'' arms, 10 1/2'' hands

Ran a 4.54 40, and a 6.76 2 cone.

35 1/2'' vert

I dont know what round hes going in. But thats sick. Thats a guy who is going to block some kicks on STs and make it really hard for QBs to throw in the middle of the field with his height and length.

Arnold is another Uche/Ojulari. And that’s fine. A one year show-me deal for a guy with a small amount of functional talent.

I’d rather round out the depth, not over trade for Crosby/Greenard/Sweat, and make the bigger move at the deadline if appropriate at that time.

Wish he could catch passes.

Yeah. Put on 20lbs and be a TE.

He can play LB though, so he has that going for him.

Brought him up the other day with the length of Woolen, adding Gentry at LB and McNeil Warren at S would be crazy length on D.

He's also a Philly kid...needs to put on some wait, checked in at 221 at the combine, he's ranked around 230 so very well could end up a UDFA for Howie to snatch up.

Actually from that small clip on x. He's nt far off of much more sacks.Maybe Fangio can get him there

I think he was very draftable and with his pro day still probably go round 3 or 4.

Someone is betting in his traits. And will be able to line him up all over the field.

Looks like a nice depth signing, he doesn’t play with a ton of pop but he looks disciplined, can drop and get from point A to B.

Something’s off. You can only spread up to 5 years so I’m not sure what the 6 void years means unless they have a dummy year to post June 1st him which isn’t technically a void year and then have 5 void years tacked on top of that.

it’s a two-year deal worth $32 million. The new numbers mean Gary took a $6 million pay cut in exchange of $16 million guaranteed.

The most important part of his reworked deal, however, is the addition of a $13.2 million signing bonus and four void years to spread it out. This helps the Cowboys drop Gary’s previous $19.5 million cap hit all the way down to $5.4 million.

That’s $14.1 million in cap savings for 2026.

Yea, that makes a lot more sense

I really like the Woolen signing. If you’re not going to retain your top edge guy, a corresponding addition in the secondary is a great move. Probably going to be a CJGJ situation with him, but I think he’ll perform in 2026.

Really if you believe in Jihaad Campbell for 2026, the defense is in good spot for March. I tend to be worried that the freak athlete who entered the NFL with major concerns about his shoulders and instincts still has major concerns about his shoulders and instincts, but it seems I’m in the minority.

Getting a reliable, unspectacular safety is very doable. Replacing 2025 Jaelan Phillips is a little less doable… But assuming they make a big edge move, you could argue the defense is right back to being near the top of the league.

The offense should be the real focus. We need to get cheaper and better long term at OL, WR, and TE.
