Which I respect. I don't like the the season is a write off posts but I try to ignore them or say why I disagree

I'm rooting for Cooper to beat out H. Brown for WR3.

  1. Signed Wooley to upgrade CB2, last year's worst position on the roster

  2. Extended Davis

  3. Re-signed Mann

  4. Re-signed Goedert

  5. Signed a rotational Edge

  6. Signed a backup blocking TE

  7. Signed a depth corner

  8. Re-signed Calcaterra (ugh, I wanted him to leave)

  9. Signed WR3 Hollywood Brown

  10. Re-worked Michael Carter's contract

  11. Re-worked Dickerson's contract

So they're returning 11 starters on offense, and have to replace 1 starting safety which they will likely eventually sign Epps to fill that hole and draft someone, and otherwise need depth at some positions and to draft for injury coverage/future.

And if you read my posts I'm optimistic about the season

Absolutely love the Hollywood Brown addition. He is really just next in the line of John Ross III and Paris Campbell tire kicking...which is a smart low-cost thing to do each offseason. Better chance that he actually does something though. His agility in all segments of the field fits nicely with what we THINK the new offense would like.

Biggest negative is that one should not expect much upside out of someone who did a little but not a lot with AR and Mahomes.

And, if we're being honest, it was the coaching staff that kept running Jurgens out there when playing Toth was likely the better idea. Pryor at LG may not have worked, but he's better there than RT. I wonder what would have happened if they had played Toth at C to start the season and give Jurgens more time, and maybe even Pryor at LG to let Dickerson fully recover from his TC injury.

Did we ever get an answer of why they did that instead of going with the healthy backups?

I beat that drum and that dead horse all year. At some point, healthy backups are better than outstanding injured starters. And at some point well before that point, a team that wins the division with a 4 game cushion when tanking the last game probably should accept the downgrade and rest a severely injured starter in an effort to allow them to get back to a higher level of play.

No. I'm guessing it was stubborn loyalty combined with not wanting to "bench" highly paid guys. Nick is a players' coach, and I think they love him because he always has their back (like taking the blame for the end of the Seattle game in 2023). Guessing Landon and Cam wanted to play, and Nick didn't tell them no.

Hollywood better get used to running routes and nothing happening for him. No chance of him getting the ball vs the other options at WR, TE and RB.

Barkley is not a good receiver. Goedert, if he's even healthy, figures to have a smaller role in the offense considering how non-committal they were with him. AJ Brown is playing his last year in Philly, if he's even here. If he can earn them, lots of targets are there for the taking.

I thought the medical and/or training staff had the ability to override the HC? Saying they were fit to play was malpractice

Honestly not sure how it works - guessing they could say the guys were 100% unable to play. But if they said it's about pain tolerance, then who knows.

I'd have put both of them on IR to start the season to force them to sit for at least 4 weeks.

Does anyone have any sense of what the coaches think of the two OTs they drafted last year? Cameron Williams and Myles Hinton? Not that either would be a starter, but is there confidence as a depth player to step in for injury?

My guess is crossing their fingers for future potential but not seriously factoring them into their plans as starting OTs post Lane Johnson.

He's still at it

In order to be the most productive #3 receiver of the Jalen Hurts era, he needs to actually be a #3 receiver for Jalen Hurts, who we know doesn't like #3 receivers.

Hollywood Brown the year before becoming an Eagle: 49/587/5tds

Jahan Dotson the year before becoming an Eagle: 49/518/4tds

Olamide Zaccheaus the year before becoming an Eagle: 40/533/3tds

There's a trend there...

I beat the drum most of the season too for sitting Cam and Landon. Toth should have played C. Could have put Pryor or one of the young backup guys at LG. Give them a shot at some point.

Now we have two young $$$ offensive linemen who are becoming increasingly injured. 😆🙃

Im sure theyll be mad at Hollywood for it too. No one asked for him...

I'd like to see them compete against Fred because unless they we take RT pretty high, one of them will probably get some meaningful PT.

I'm not going to pretend that Brown is as good as Jaylen Waddle. But Waddle is not 1st and 3rd round picks better...

The asking price before June 1 and after June 1 are two different things. Howie's current asking price compensates him for absorbing $46M+ in dead money for 2026. After June 1 the dead cap diminishes, and the negotiated trade would be for a lesser return -- likely 2027 2nd and 3rd round picks and a young roster player.

Only using the Patriots as an example -- which WR in this WR draft (that you don't like) will the Pats draft at #31 overall, and how many years will it take that player to have the impact AJ Brown would have in their offense? The Patriots have the mistaken belief they are a WR1 away from a Super Bowl. Romeo Doubs isn't a WR1 for a championship-caliber team, and both the Eagles and Pats know it.

I'm not sure it diminishes it as much as you think. One way or another we are absorbing the dead cap, just 1 year vs 2 but either way the team trading for him gets the benefit of us absorbing it which is where the value lies.

All I know is if waddle is commanding a 1st and 3rd where he’s had durability issues and not as good as brown plus just 1.5 years younger then Howie is right to ask for the same if not more. Aj has been a more productive player and frankly he can be a true no. 1. Waddle i think is very good not sure he’s a true no. 1. granted he doesn’t have to be with Sutton on the broncos

Hollywood is way better at running routes and knows how to use speed. If only he had better hands. Maybe he can teach Danny Gray. Eagles have three speed WRs on the roster now in Hollywood, Watkins and Gray.
