I’m in the fog of Disney and missed this if previously reported by someone else. We guaranteed $700,000 for Calcaterra to do nothing as a receiver and to actively sabotage blocking assignments?

How dare you be critical of Howie or anything he does. You are just an ungrateful, bad fan. This off-season rules!!

I would go:

Epps at Safety. Been nothing spectacular but solid. Willing to lay a big hit

Sign both Becton and Johnson. Good locker room guys who obviously played their best football here.

Trade for Sweat. 12.5 sacks is more than 3 for Greenard. Of course depends on compensation and if things are equal Greenard may be the better fit long term. But. we are win now team and how many injured shoulders do we need on the team?

I don't think Becton is likely a real opition because he's going to want a clear path to start. Fred also wants to sign somewhere he will have chance to start. I also think the change in scheme should mean they look at players with some experience in that scheme. A player like Kayode Awosika may make sense for the team. Liam Eichenberg, who was a 2nd round pick, may make sense if he's healthy. I like the idea of Fred coming back but his familiarity with the team doesn't really give them an advantage. I think they should get through the draft before they trade for either Sweat or Greenard. It's a good draft for edge prospects. They don't need a number 1 pass rusher. They need depth.

I agree that re-signing Epps would be good. I don't think they need a great safety to be a great defense. Draft McNeill-Warren from Toledo and they will be fine.

Thoughts on Bud Clark? Good height but needs to pack on 10 pounds or so. Seems like a ball hawk but also a little older (23 I think)

So on papar Calcaterra has a higher salary than Goedert.

Calcaterra has absolutely no business on an active roster until he can actually learn how to block. Otherwise, he's a WR who ate too much.

They should have taken all of Nick's toys away

I watched this same exact strategy play out in the 2025 off-season. Remind me how that worked out for the Eagles during the season.

Not so different from 2024.

I am no scout nor capologist but...what did you want them to do. They won the Super Bowl and Howie flat out told the world, we aren't going to be able to keep everyone and we have some very tough decisions coming. And this is still true....or perhaps you'd like them to sign all the big time free agents out there and not be able re-sign Carter, Q and Coop?? But then you'd be on here screaming from the rooftops, we signed all that dreck and we lost our best players!

The way you're screaming on here, you make it sound like it's the 80's and 90's and this team hasn't recently won 2 Super Bowls and they haven't been the 2nd best team in the NFL since 2000.

Yes, it's unfortunate that we lost players the last 2 years, this was due to a massive investment in the offense with massive contracts upcoming on the defense. Here is really the only place or reason that we all should criticize......when you have that massive investment in the offense, and you already witnessed the Brian Johnson fiasco just 2 years prior and Howie and Lurie had to jump in and get Fangio and Moore.....how the f'ing f do you allow Sirianni to repeat the same f'ing mistake with Patullo? How the f when you know you have a limited window and you are going to lose players that you'd love to keep due to cap constraints do you f'ing allow Patullo?!?!?? It's like having a Ferrari and you put the keys in the hands of a Mentally Challenged blind person.

And even with all of this.....I never thought in my lifetime, I would see the Eagles win a Super Bowl let alone two. I lived and watched (or even had to listen on the radio because games were blacked out) during the 80's and 90's. I was at the last game at the Vet vs. Tampa in the NFCCG. I witnessed the Fog Bowl vs. Chicago. I witnessed Bryce Paup going low on Randall, in the year where the Eagles arguably had maybe the best defense in NFL history and had to use 6 different QB's, go 10-6 and not even make the playoffs.

Is this team perfect? No! Is Howie perfect? No! But goddamn some of you ungrateful, whiney ****es just sound like flat out puzzies.

Goedert has a $4.5M signing bonus though.

What are your thoughts on rookies playing RT?

Any rookie good enough to be thrown into action at RT was probably starting at LT in their last year of college. I'd bet a high % of even veteran NFL RT's were college LT's.

I see it as an extra wrinkle to account for; they likely are going to need immediate help at RT next year and asking even a good 1st round rookie who was an NCAA LT could yield some unpredictable results.

Yeah, I don't think he's going to be healthy in 2026 and will probably never be the same type of player.

Wow - a rational post! Agreed on all fronts. Did someone else hack your computer, because there's no way your mongoloid sawsidge fingers typed this? 🤣

The amount of belly-aching and bishing in here about Howie not making moves is ridiculous. Anyone that understands football at even the lowest level knows that he has drafted so freaking well over the last 4-5 years, that it simply will not allow them to make any sort of splash moves. It's science.......unless we want to lose all of our young, defensive all-pro potential unit that dominated the majority of last season.

I like him. He's got good range, really good ball skills and length to be disruptive. So, Clark checks the boxes in terms of being interchangeable with Mukuba and should be a better match-up against WRs than Reed if isolated.

He's also a bit aggressive, so he's going to need to be coached up so not to get pulled out of position. He's light, so not the best against the run - but more importantly he's gotten dinged most years so I worry if that lack of mass will effect his availability and being an older prospect does he really have the potential to add more good weight. Round 3 target sounds about right...

Another Safety

23 is fine but I thought he was even older than that.

Big want because he is a turnover machine.

But the age is a factor. I dont know when the value becomes worth it.

I feel like he's a first round talent that you have to take in round 2 but you'd rather get on round 3.

The defense was still great, the offense was the issue. Not because of feee agents that left. I mean, do we really have to explain to fans that can't understand the problems were Patullo and O line health?

This year they signed a solid starting CB2 which is an upgrade over last year

If you still don't grasp that there is no money to keep everyone and the goal is keeping their core star players then there's no hope for you. If they spent money on mid guys now but let star players leave later that would be worse.

Some of these fans act like children throwing tantrums with short memories that forget sense and only live in the moment, or emotional teenage girls on their periods. Or the types that need the most basic plots of movies explained to them or they get mad at the movie.

Well, obviously, I want tackles who have played 4-5 years in the NFL and at a high level. Failing that, I would certainly want players with starting experience in a quality college program. As for LT vs RT, I don't think the difference between the positions is as great as it was a decade ago, when quality at the LT position was far and away the most highly valued. One could argue that Tristan Wirfs, Penei Sewell, and Lane Johnson are the three best OTs in the NFL and all play RT. Now, as regards the Eagles, the two OTs they drafted last year both have a lot of starts, though Hinton has played both sides and Williams only RT...I think. They no longer qualify as rookies though they have negligible experience BUT have a year of pro quality coaching and strength training. (Michigan's strength program is pro quality, I should add.) I expect Williams to be the RT of the future and Hinton to be a swing tackle and I think both would have been drafted no later than Day Two if they had elected to stay in school. This is NOT to say that if a really good OT falls to them they won't grab him.

Circling back to the LT/RT issue, theses days a lot of teams put their best pass rusher at LDE. The argument there is that getting pressure from that side will cause the QB to drop his eyes and get jumpy in the pocket. Hurts certainly is guilty of that and the way to mitigate that is to have a good RT.

Like you said Howie isn't perfect and the point of this forum is to talk about the team and the moves that are being made. Fans don't have to sit down and be quiet. That isn't showing gratitude that's indentured servitude. You may have signed up for that but people need to stop telling others they can't speak their mind when they see mistskes being made.

One fewer team for AJ Brown and if that's the price for Waddle, Howie is right in holding firm on his demands.
