And a vet minimum prove it deal is about 1M. I'm just saying to not explore another option at this point is mind boggling. The ineptitude will blow up on their faces this year at some point. Need comptetion here to make him earn it. Can't worry about his feelings or any loyalty here that hurts the team. The history on rookie kickers is not good, and who is the vet you are bringing in that going to be better than Elliott? 42 year old Matt Prater or Daniel Carlson? You specifically said there would be no risk in letting Elliott go, yet you have no plan.I highly doubt Elliott would be the only kicker on the team when it comes to training camp.

This is a sample size of two consecutive seasons now.2024: 28th overall in field goal percentage at 77.8%. Dead last for a kicker who played 17 games.2025: 33rd overall in field goal percentage at 74.1% and the two guys below him played in only 12 & 8 games. For a kicker who played an entire season without losing his job he ranked dead last.Again, things can quickly change for a kicker for better or for worse. You can consider the other 7 seasons when he was stellar and hope he regains his form. Or you can sign someone currently unemployed and hope he regains his form. Both options are risky, but keeping Elliot is the better option money-wise since you don't want to carry more dead cap.

People in here told me who do we replace Siposs with 2 years ago. Well we found Mann. There was Gilliken as well at that time. Gotta keep your eyes open (which I feel they have not even considered til now) and one will spring loose. No one knew Dicker. He bounced around. Guys just need an opportunity. That's where Howie's talents come in. Not accepting this mediocrity.

All players inevitably hit a wall if they stick around long enough. Jake has obviously hit his. Two terrible years and he got even worse last year than he was in 2024.I would rather move on from Jake and take the cap hit the have to deal with the inevitable games he will cost us this season. We are going to have the least talented roater we have had since 2021 this season in all likelihood. We were already living in some tight margins of victory last year. The league's worst kicker is going to be a huge issue for us.

I would think that would be before the season.I would be fine with Smith if he the team could count on him to stay healthy. He led the team in pressure rate after he got healthy. I think he's got limited pass rush moves but he's not bad. I would like them to add someone in the draft but I don't think a rookie is going to make an instant impact in this scheme. It has to be exercised before the start of the season. So before, in theory, they could have had a camp competition, cut Elliott and not pay his option bonus. Now that it’s guaranteed he’s going to get it no matter what happens. They could bring in a kicker as "competition” but the job is going to be his since it doesn’t make sense to guarantee everything for the this year just to cut him and lose out on all that money.

Even Justin Tucker had a couple of bad years in-between All-Pro seasons.

I was just correcting his statement.Second, Tucker tried out with Saints and they went with York. There's always teams out there to sign shady peeps if they're any good. Raiders, Cowgirls, Browns and Chiefs to name few.

I figured he was blowing smoke up our asses. Kickers are a dime a dozen. You spin the wheel until you hit on one. Low investment here. Rams did it last year, when they ditched a decent but struggling young kicker in Karty to get it right finally with Melvis, who made a whopping 840K.

Maybe for Tucker. For Elliott, that's a good year. Most importantly Tucker was stellar from 50 yards overall in his career. Elliott not so much.
