Im a little bit excited about Elijah Moore.

It looks like he is disappointingly not a RAC guy. I expected more explosiveness from a little guy with 4.35 speed but he seems to lack the quick change of direction to make the CB miss after the catch.

Still, looks like a knack for getting open and reliable hands. Should be a reliable player. Maybe a better version of Zaccheus Im thinking.

I think he's 50/50 to make the team at best. Especially if they draft a WR or two and what happens with AJ. He's just not very good. But he's a guy who has had ok seasons and was probably dirt cheap and there was the Joe Douglas and AJ Brown connection so they probably were like what the hell, we need depth.

Then they'll have to trade Brown 🙄

Future cap savings as well

That's a really overstated and somewhat disingenuous point that's been floating around Twitter, talking about the $113 million in cash savings. Only his $29mm this year and $4mm next year is guaranteed, so really $80mm is money he'd never see. His cash comp is $29mm vs. $23.4mm cap number this year, and some of his old bonus amortization runs out after this season. So the dead cap to trade him next offseason is only ~$5.4mm higher at ~$49.2 million.

But the real "cash" savings is $29-$33mm. That last $80mm is BS.

Elijah Moore as WR5 is way better than what we've had in the Sirianni era. He's just not a starter.

Surprised none of the players Howie has signed are punt return specialists. Covey’s spot on the roster is being challenged except for returns. Moore did a bit but not much. Pierce has done KOR but that’s just competition for Bigsby and Shipley.

I liked the very limited stuff I saw out of Darius Cooper. Curious to see how he looks with another year under his belt. No I don't think penciling him in as the WR3 is smart but still, if he builds off last year he could be a player.

I'm excited too. Elite practice squad player. Was so good at the practice squad Denver was forced to keep him there the whole time. Top 10 practice squad player of all time if you ask me.

Its Joe Ostman all over again

Genuinely interested to hear the logic or rumours around this? I'd assumed that by signing Geno this offseason, they were gonna tank

So, my point was they couldn't trade AJ before June 1, but amended that after they redid DG's contract that they could technically do it now, but I still highly doubt it. Been buried at work, but assuming Spotrac is close at $33mm (and that's about where I am), that's around ~$23mm in functional cap space when backing out rookies and in-season. So if they trade AJB before June 1, they'd have ~3mm in functional cap space.

One thing to bear in mind, extending Jalen Carter would raise his cap number by about $3mm. And I expect them to do that this offseason.

I think if they trade AJB, it will be after June 1. First, I think Howie wants to split up the cap hit. Second, I think he wants 2027 picks.

Yep, agreed on that. I was just surprised they signed all these guys so far and would still have that functional space if they did trade AJ Brown.

Not entirely, it's 50/50 between him and lurie. It's their job as the superiors to tell nick "Hey that's probably the most idiotic move we can make right now with the window we're in. Find someone else or we'll do it for you". Especially after the Brian johnson debacle. They tanked the season from the start, returned almost the entire team and had it not been for Vic they would've been under .500

I agree but it's not like Sirianni doesn't have some leverage. Sirianni is well liked among the players. They were coming off a Super Bowl win. Patullo had support among the players and coaches. I don't know if they had added someone else it would have made a huge difference. If the o-line had been completely healthy, maybe the run game probably looks a lot better. In some ways the change that happened because of the failure of Patullo may have a better chance of leading to another Super Bowl.

Fred deserves his own post lol

Notice how there are no social media posts from AJ excited to have his best friend signed to the team.

He wants out and this changes nothing.

Chris Bell is an interesting one. Sounds like it was a clean ACL tear so no long term worries there. He’s raw, but get him in a LaFleur-style offense where the slot runs verts and crossers and he could be something. Watch his game vs Miami. Looked like a man among boys against an elite defense.

"[Sydney] Brown was the only one of 15 Day 1 or Day 2 Eagles draft picks since 2021 to not become a regular starter."

"Unfortunately for the best NFL teams, it's nearly impossible to keep everyone. You're going to lose good players, as the Eagles have the last two offseasons. The reality is that the good teams who have drafted well will lose good vets because the bad teams who have not drafted well overpay for them. That makes the good teams the victims of their own success."

The 2024 roster was the apex. Hopefully this is the last offseason where we see a net decline in talent.

Wentz was the biggest cap hit just 5 years ago at 33M

Tua almost at 100M is insane

I like Bell a lot, it's just a matter of how high you take a guy who likely won't be ready until 2027.

He’ll play in 2026.

Add to that, I don't think Brian Johnson was a Sirianni hire. Sirianni brought Gannon with him as DC immediately and hired Steichen as OC within a day or so. Johnson was named as QB coach within a few days despite having no prior history with Sirianni. Johnson did, however, have a history with the Hurts family (which the Eagles denied knowing when they interviewed him -- I call BS on that). I think Howie and/or Lurie saw Johnson as necessary familiarity for Hurts. I didn't have a problem with the Eagles promoting Johnson; I thought QB coach to OC was a logical progression. It just didn't work out.

I'd love if the Eagles drafted him, not sure what round he's projected to go. He might be my favorite WR in the draft. He's one of "my guys" I just love his game. He plays with a nastiness and he's fast enough. Not a burner, but will be a big YAC guy in the NFL and can get down field when he needs to.

Didn’t play STs. You don’t get the right to be WR5 without playing STs

Most mocks and sims have him going around the middle of RD2. Outside chance he could fall to the Eagles RD2 pick.

I think 23 is too early, but he probably won’t be around at 54.
