Wentz seemed pretty high on Hightower in his PC earlier. I'll be curious to see how they work him in on Sunday. They can do a lot of fun stuff with him and DeSean on the field at the same time.

Start him and "work in” JJAW/Ward.  Into the fire.

But then you were eating into your $50 mil .2022 cap when you only have 31 players under contract at this point. You’re not solving any problem you’re just delaying it.

Err...not necessarily.  As long as the cap continues to increase year-to-year and players retire, move on, etc...you can have that sort of strategy.  It's basically what the Eagles have been doing for years now.

Did JP effectively blink on playing at LT?  Regardless, let's see how it works and how soon we get the false start/holding combination in games...

The Eagles used to get rid of guys a year too early before a year too late. Thanks to their Super Bowl win they gave out too many thank you contracts.

We'll know Wednesday.

About those WRs...

How would everyone manage the offense on Sunday?

The look that I don't want to see, at least outside the red zone, is 12 personnel with Ertz/Goedert and Desean plus either Ward or JJAW out wide.  That's a very, very easy look to defend.  Play off Desean with generous safety help deep and put the rest of the defense at the LOS.  It's a highly telegraphed and one dimensional offense.

Hightower may or may not be ready for prime time, but he at least forces you to pretend to defend all levels of the field.  If we are in 12 personnel, I think he's got to be the X.

At this point, I could see JJAW making some sporadic big plays meandering through zone coverage on a slant route and then high-pointing a Wentz laser.  That, along with boxing some DBs out in the red zone, would be how I try to harness JJAW.  Anything beyond that and he's mis-used.

Ward...meh.  He's an underneath safety valve.  We have that in Ertz & Goedert.  He's just going to congest the field.  When you show 3 wide, then fine, stash him in the slot.

In week 1, the Eagles have a knack for coming out aggressive and trying to send a message. I'm sure the "football team" has noticed this over the years.  While it's not my style, I'd start with a heavy dose of Sanders behind Pryor/Johnson.  It gets Pryor's confidence going by playing to his strengths.  Play the small game by establishing the run, getting some screens to Scott in space, and pounding them underneath with Goedert.  Washington will give up some chunks to that strategy while they sit on their heels waiting for that big shot to Desean, especially after week 1 last season.  That's when you start taking shots to Hightower instead, who probably won't be getting much attention at all.

If Hightower actually establishes a bit of a threat in the first half, that's when you come out firing deep all second half.

JJAW/DSJ in 2 WR sets. This maximizes spacing for the TEs.
Hightower/DSJ/Ward in 3 WR sets. Ward's lack of speed doesn't him hurt if Hightower is the other WR. If it's Ward/JJAW, they're just going to shade the S to DSJ's side and double the TE.

I'd argue that it doesn't maximize any spacing at all.  There is no role for a sluggish possession WR in 12 personnel.  The same issue with Ward/JJAW presents itself when it's basically Ertz/JJAW.

I think Jackson. Ertz, and Sanders will see a lot of early action.  Guessing Goedert will be limited.

I think they've got to get Jackson, Ertz, Sanders and Goedert going early don't they? Get them involved and get this offense on the move. Build some confidence in that OL.

This is fair. My comment only applies if JJAW actually did get half a step quicker. If that was lip-service, then to maximize spacing it has to be Hightower in week 1, then Reagor in week 2.

I love 12 personnel, as long as both WRs can win vertically. In theory, JJAW should be able to win with contested catches but I'm skeptical Carson will throw to him.

Definitely need to establish the run game. Do that it opens up the middle of the field for Ertz and Goedert since they won’t want Desean to single handedly beat them again.

Well, obviously I'm neither a 12 personnel fan nor a JJAW fan.  Combining the 2 makes me cringe.

But there is an obvious precedent that a big frame, good footwork, good routes, and average speed can still be a winning combination downfield.  JJAW has the frame, but he still needs to prove he has those other 3 things.

Yes and yes.  I'm just guessing, but don't think Goedert will be really ready until the end of September.   Hope I'm wrong.

They have 2 TE's on the roster and run 12 personnel most of the time.  I have to imagine they are confident Goedert is ready to go.  If he's not, I guess maybe they activate Caleb Wilson for a game off the PS...or they are just crazy.

We'll find out soon enough but "on Paper" this offense has the looks of being able to "average" 35- 40 a game like our friends in 2018 Kansas City.

JJAW’s highest game last year for production was 39 yards ....

I’m taking the over on that this Sunday

If Reagor's healthy relatively early, and by the looks of it might be much earlier than any of us expected,  I'm really struggling to figure out how Washington is going to slow us down, let alone "STOP us" on Offense on Sunday.

Then you've got the Rams who also play their own brand of Ole style 2020 NFL Defense.

Heh....Sure

Possibly they add Glenn to the PS till he gets use to the playbook and scheme?

Interested to see why they are waiting to make the final few moves. Trade maybe? Or just working out the kinks on a new deal for a player.

I’m thinking we see Mailata at swing tackle.

He'll play.  But how much will his thumb impact his ability to contribute in the passing game is my query?  I'm thinking its not fully healthy, flexible, pain free when catching/holding onto the ball until the end of the month
