Mailata spent his first season on IR. I think with Bernard specifically you can IR him. The dude doesn’t even really know the rules yet and has no experience in a professional sport of any kind.

While it would be great to get him reps at practice, I think they can IR him, he can workout in the weight room and watch tape, then have him hire a private coach to work him out in DL drills.

Weru seems closer to being able to actually contribute, so maybe keep him on the 53.

Really though, the NFL needs to come up with a way to get teams to commit to developing these type of players. Change the designated international player to a system that makes them ineligible to be called up to the 53 man roster but bypass waivers, so you can draft and develop a kid and feel confident that your investment will pay off.
