If we can just find a way to stop running for hardly any gain on every first down.

That makes no sense. For every win there must be a loss. The NFL average should always be 50%.

It is simple math. Divide 64.7 by 50 and you get 1.294, which makes the Eagles record 29.4% better than the league average. The raw data absolute margin in the standings is 14.7, and the relative margin is 29%.

If you put that into investment terms, if you invested $50, which became $64.70, your Return Zone Investment (ROI) would be 29.4%

Well, if you and @McMVP say so, it must be so.

That is a noble effort. I actually considered that when I was trying to make sense of Matt's post but rejected it. I'm too simple-minded to speak much Matt, much as I like it.

My wife says I can complicate things faster than anyone she knows. She frequently follows that statement with a groan.

A former boss of mine described me in a training class as the person who can make a one page memo into four pages faster than anyone.

I think Howie giving his money to Davis was a mistake

Moro is going to be a rich man.

He deserves to be. Even in that heat he was noticeable. It's not that I don't like Davis, but I think Moro is the better player.

Glad to see they signed Ertz but I wonder what he has left in the tank.

With gas prices nowadays any little bit is going to save money.

Are 2nd and 3rd down skewed since we have so far to go on those two downs making us have to be far more aggressive? Weird stat

What an incredible 7th round pick

Yards per play is still helpful showing how effective the offense can be.

Do they keep track of how often a player gets held? Curious about with Carter

So does anyone think since the bears games wasn't going the way Williams wanted in the rain that maybe he bagged it and overreacted to the injury just so he wouldn't have to go back in

Penalties have played a part in that I think - but my only gripe now about the Mannion offense is to try to find simpler plays on 1st and 2nd down that your okay if they only gain you 3-4 yards. Quick WR out route, quick TE out route, quick slant, a toss running play. Quick 2-step drop etc.....which will also open up the run more, yes we need better blocking but I think now that we know we have protection problems - implement quicker positive plays.

And please shelf the F'ing WR screen while in motion, we are fooling no one.

I am sorry. My definition of simple math is different. Usually it means not having to take off my socks to complete the calculations.

Yeh, I would expect the 1st down number to trend up over time and the 3rd down number to trend down. I think the 1st down number is simply the result of trying to establish the run and not giving up on the game plan, and the 3rd down number is a result of having longer distances to convert, because of the current 1st down efficiency. I don't have 1st down plays charted into run vs pass but I would guess that there are a lot more runs than pass on first down after two games, especially playing with a lead the majority of those games. It's two weeks in, a lot will change over the next several weeks, especially with OL improvement.

Or a couple Royale with cheese.

I still think Herbert will end up having a good season but my love of a good meme outweighs all of that

The screen game is a problem that needs work before they put it back into game plans. The ball needs to come out faster on those plays so that WRs are not having to hold blocks. I think Jalen holds onto the ball a little bit too long in those plays. Whether that's by design or not, I don't know. I think the WR screens are often RPO plays and it's just not a good design because making the read kills the timing. Part of it is that the WR screens are easy to read.

Been there

First, those bubble screens are making Lemon look worse than he really is. Second, we look at his lack of targets as an indictment of his progress.

But don't you want Jalen to target Smith and Wicks as much as possible? I actually think Howie did the right thing in bringing in multiple solutions at WR. But it may mean Lemon is slow played into the offense.
