It gets called thrombophlebitis when it’s visible on ultrasound and progresses to the observable clinical syndrome with pain, redness, swelling. It’s not unheard of with athletes, but you really dont hear about it often. So ultrasounding everyone that gets cleated isn’t reasonable…plus, it usually develops in a delayed fashion after the injury as clots propagate due to bleeding and inflammation. So someone really needs to have the clinical suspicion first…it’s not really a reflexive text for an on-field injury like an x-ray.That question was for my comparison to the high school setting. Im sure not many are interested so if not, you can all stop reading right here. This has potential to be like the pre-participation ECG debate. We dont do them. But people say, well, cost and resources are worth it if it saves a kids life. Athletes die of SCA every year. Large professional organizations still say- not necessary.ECG is a cheap test and spits out results immediately. But for various other reasons, they're still not universally adopted for sports participation.Ultrasound is a cheap test with instant results. Ultrasounds are readily available on many high school football sidelines. Our doctors have them. Athletic trainers can even become certified sonographers. I have personally done much of the work for musculoskeletal sonography including the hands on experience with patients, but stopped short of taking the exam. The possibility for serial imaging exists even outside of the professional realm. This is rare, but next time an athlete has a nasty looking contusion, or a big hematoma and this is on parents minds, they may not be so comfortable with an athletic trainer just clearing their kid without imaging. Somewhere out there, a parent is going to be trying to get an US for their kid because of a contusion. If there is an adverse event, theyll be asking in court, why didnt we do an US if it could have prevented this? This may create discussions in the medical community. We may need to come up with consensus best practices and standards of care for protection from litigation in the future. Even if the answer is still No, not necessary. This is rare, but this is what M&M conferences are all about. Someone at Jefferson Health is likely going to present this case in front of colleagues and then have to explain the why's. Then they'll talk about what maybe could be done differently next time. We had a guy get cleated. Pretty common injury. Can/should we have done something to prevent his adverse event? Or did we do enough, and we are happy with the result of just catching it early even though we didnt prevent it. Its all really simple if the answer is really that this is entirely due to the long flight. But as you said, no proof.

Okay the guy is injured now and maybe out for months now we can talk about a new topic maybe? Of course as you know It will continue on and on and on..

It's classless, but I shouldn't expect anything differently.Okay, regarding this weekend. Will take an early stab at it...Eagles need this game and are in desperation mode. Think the defense has been slowly, but surely coming back. Expect the next stage in comeuppance here, with a healthier JC and more Trotter snaps this week. Greenard should come back and cover the Hunt injury and actually lbe a noticeable contributor. Moore should be a stabilizer back there at safety in regards to filling in for the M.Carter injury. On offense, I expect we get that backup boost from McKee and he does a solid job, but nothing spectacular. Another week of Goedert and Devanta back (and actually together at same time) will do wonders here. The O-line hopefully gets Kendall back. And who knows, maybe Dickerson gets involved here and buttresses the running game and having the Tush Push back in the play book. Feel McKee and Cooper will be a go to tandem here in this game with their prior rapport. At RB, I see Steele getting his 1st snaps and providing a spark when he's in there. So with all of that said. The line is talking to me. Eagles cover and actually win this one in a season saver to keep all of our hopes alive. FOR NOW. 1 week at a time....Panthers-17Eagles-24Cooper 1 TDSmith 1 TDHollywood Brown with a bomb.*Hope Matt's okay....No one hates him.

Maybe thats the caveat that protects us peons at schools though. It cant really be the standard of care if the resource is not available. Its one thing to mandate a rectal thermometer for heat stroke. Nobody is going to be able to mandate every high school to buy a 50k+ US unit, or have a doctor bring one, AND have staff capable of using it, and reading it.

Give it a rest for 24 hours. There is absolutely glow abound with certain people because he's knocked out. That's it. Not explaining this further. Bye.

But you can repost this about Sirianni….and say it’s classless and insensitive to criticize Hurts in any capacity because he’s injured. You are pathetic and a coward who can’t back up their off the wall hyperbole.
