I believe Monica’s power set is similar to but not exactly the same as Captain Marvel’s in the comics. I know they both involve energy manipulation but I don’t really know the specifics.

As for the rest of the town, who knows. Fans suspect this may be how mutants are introduced in the MCU, but that’s TBD. The big thing with Monica is that she went through the border on three separate occasions so they could just say her greater exposure caused it. But that is definitely one of the big mysteries left.

If going through the barrier somehow gives you power then couldn't they just have people continuously going in and out? Seems like a loophole that could just get taken advantage of

The guy in charge could just become a super villain by it lol

Fair, but they didn’t know Monica had powers until the third time she went through. Up to that point they just saw that her molecules were changing which could just as easily have been viewed as a health issue. Plus, everyone who goes through the portal the first time become immediately sucked into Wanda’s reality. I doubt anyone is really jumping for that to happen after Monica described it like feeling your drowning.

What is with the long credits on Wanda vision? It's a good 6+ minutes. Nearly as long as the episode.

I noticed it as well. I watched through them in the first few thinking there would be a post credit scene but only the last one had one. Ended up just fast forwarding until I could click down for the next episode

Yeah mind you in episode 7 there is a little mid credits scene.

Yeah the first time she didn't display any powers.  Going back in the 2nd time she became Neo in the Matrix seeing the code and eyes turning blue.

But they can't escape on their own to just come and go as they please.  Wanda threw Monica out.  I don't remember what happened to the beekeeper. Even Vision couldn't get out on his own.  I don't recall anyone else leaving or getting out.  Monica only just got super powers this last episode and no one on the outside knows that yet.  And she had to struggle to get back in, and apparently the only reason she could was her previous time changing her DNA.

So it's not even something anyone knows is a thing, to try and get super powers from it.  And people can't leave on their own anyway.

So they changed the way she got her powers from how it happened in the comics.

Wiki has this

She was a lieutenant in the New Orleans harbor patrol, and operated as a cargo ship captain. Trying to prevent the creation of a dangerous weapon, Rambeau was exposed to extra-dimensional energy. As a result, she was thereafter able to convert her body to energy. After this event, the media dubbed her "Captain Marvel".[19

THAT does not match up to what i read in the article about how she got her powers.

not according to the article:
Monica made her debut in the 1982 Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16, which featured her getting her powers (and seemingly randomly deciding to call herself Captain Marvel) and Spider-Man encouraging her to join the Avengers so she could hone her powers.

and confirmed, according to marvel:
Monica was a lieutenant in the New Orleans Harbor Patrol. Fate came upon her one day when she gained superpowers after being bombarded by extra-dimensional energy, produced by an energy disruptor weapon created by a criminal scientist. (as stated above)

thats not a bad theory.

personally i think pietro is not himself at all. have a feeling it could be mephisto or nightmare.

im on record.

There was a nerdy youtube video with easter eggs from the last episode, I got bored it was too nerdy even for me it was on "Screen Crush" channel if you want to bore yourself.  But some things he pointed out that were kinda neat:

  • The episode was breaking the 4th wall, and when Wanda threw Monica out that first time she crashed through 4 walls literally
  • The opening credits matched closely to the sitcom Happy Endings (not the Office as much although it was similar to that as well)
  • Wanda was wearing blues and purples in the episode instead of reds, perhaps meaning she's under Agnes' control
  • The sitcoms have gotten grittier and more realistic over the decades, mirroring that Wanda is getting further away from her idealistic escape and being confronted with reality.  In that sense, the changing sitcom by decade fits well.
  • The hexagon shape is used a lot - the hex itself, her bedding in the episode had hexagon pattern, the shape of the vehicle Monica drove, the hexagon shape was used in Guardians of the Galaxy when jumping through space, used in some computer graphics and other images throughout the show.
  • The twins were wearing the colors of their comic book super hero costumes

Also the nexus commercial:

  • Nexus is a term used throughout the comics, in one case it's a place between multi-verses
  • The commercial itself is encouraging Wanda to step out of her depression and into the real world
  • The camera trick where it seems the woman is lying in bed, but steps forward and is walking (magic, Wanda has the power to step forward out of this)

He didn't mention this, but the Nexus was also the computer in Ultron that Tony hacked to find Jarvis.  Vision is part Jarvis, part Ultron, part mind stone, etc.  The same power that created Ultron also created Wanda and Vision.   Wonder if there will be an Ultron connection.  Apparently in the comics Ultron was able to re-create himself dozens of times.  With a multi-verse, anyone from the past could show up again.

i also liked the point that Wanda's tone/energy when saying 'previously on Wandavision gets weaker/more tired with each episode.
