I never said they shouldn't get the pay, Im wondering why theyre getting it now and didnt have it in all this time.

Can you explain why?  Since you guys are so knowledgeable about how many of our troops we have there and what they are or arent doing (even though no one can tell me, Ill take your word for it)

What makes you think they just started receiving haz duty pay? The size and make up of troop deployments is generally classified. No one has claimed to know exactly how many troops are there, just that it’s more than just a few, and that they are trained and prepared to protect the embassy should it come under attack.

  • While I disagree with Biden trying to save these idiots from themselves, it just proves what a wonderful human being he is. IMO we should encourage Trumpbots to all give each other Covid so they die o

And as to your last point, we were promised by Biden "no boots on the ground"

Yeah Im starting to think he was full of ish.

Wait til Biden gets us tangled up in ****, too, btw.

I’m guessing the war in Ukraine is why they were just authorized the imminent danger pay. Truth, is, they should have been receiving it long before it was authorized.

I’m thinking you don’t know exactly what "boots on the ground” means. It has to do with troops on the ground that are actively participating in combat. It has nothing to do with a company or so of Marines on embassy duty.

It also looks like there are some logistics, some S2, and some security troops at the embassy. None would be considered "boots on the ground.”

It wasnt a terrorist attack, sorry.  They all showed up first as a protest that turned into a riot.

CNN would have called it a mostly peaceful protest if it was a different President.

You write a lot of nonsense, but to make the case that Marines shouldn't be defending our embassy in a war zone has to be one of the most mentally feeble posts I've ever read here. We had countless hearings about the lack or Marine presence at our embassy in Benghazi. I know it's before you were born but you should really read up on the attack on our embassy in Iran in the 70's before writing nonsense like this.

The stereotype of the dimwitted ignorant Trump supporter who has no sense of history and lacks even a rudimentary understanding of the issues exists for a reason.

Arent you kind of making my point?

The fact that theyre just now eligible for this pay is precisely what makes me think it ISNT intended for the embassy.

Thats been my point all along.   Did they just now realize that Kiev is dangerous (for the embassy staff) or is this for the undetermined amount of our troops that are absolutely 'boots on the ground' and in harms way?

Id honestly feel better if they said "yeah this is for our light security detail in Kiev, we just realized they needed this compensation"

Nope!  Wrong again, old man river

When Trump left office, what did Afghanistan look like?   We were still there occupying the entire country.

Biden was the one who fell asleep at the wheel and then ended up having to beg the Taliban to let is leave.  So f'ing pathetic.

And it was Biden and his intel that failed so spectacularly that it took like 3 days for the entire country to fall.

Biden has yet to notch a single foreign policy win.  Hes incompetent

Such shame your ignorance prevents you from believing what your eyes tell you.

I know you can't admit the truth. It goes against what you've read on idiot sites.

If it's anything like Trump's complete disaster in N word in 2017, it'll go largely ignored by you.

Four Army special operations soldiers killed in action during an ambush in **** last October were part of a largely inexperienced and lightly-armed team outmatched by ISIS fighters who exploited bad decisions by U.S. commanders, families of the fallen soldiers and other sources briefed on the military investigation told ABC News.

"The worst circumstances fell upon them and the team came apart. But that failure started well before the bullets started flying," agreed Derek Gannon, a former Green Beret with combat deployments in Iraq, who is now a military writer. "It was a complete and total command failure. They failed this team. Within a day, the Pentagon started forming a narrative to blame the team rather than the conditions they were forced into."

And then of course, Trump cracked jokes about it because US soldiers dying is a solid punchline.

President Donald Trump drew laughs from some of his aides as he joked about what a "rough business” terrorism is while discussing an ambush in **** that left four U.S. soldiers dead last year, according to a covert recording released Monday.

Trump made the comments during a closed-door meeting at the White House in the wake of the Oct. 4, 2017, attack on the U.S. special forces, who were advising local troops fighting Islamic extremists in the African nation.

Former White House communications aide Omarosa Manigault Newman secretly recorded the conversation and provided a tape of it to MSNBC on Monday afternoon.

Ive literally never said that.  We evacuated our embassy in Ukraine when Russia invaded, and were told by Biden that they promised Ukraine theyd reopen it in the future.

Meanwhile, Biden gives us the "no boots on the ground" promise.

Fast forward to this week, and not only have their been leaks that informed us that there are absolutely boots on the ground, but that they are eligible for hazard pay which usually indicates combat.  So Im just wondering whats up?

I think I added to my response while you were replying. The government moves slow, they did retro the pay back to 4/22.

You really should look up what the phrase "boots on the ground” refers to.

The Trump administration in February 2020 negotiated a withdrawal agreement with the Taliban that excluded the Afghan government, freed 5,000 imprisoned Taliban soldiers and set a date certain of May 1, 2021, for the final withdrawal.

And the Trump administration kept to the pact, reducing U.S. troop levels from about 13,000 to 2,500, even though the Taliban continued to attack Afghan government forces and welcomed al-Qaeda terrorists into the Taliban leadership.

Biden delayed the May 1 withdrawal date that he inherited. But ultimately his administration pushed ahead with a plan to withdraw by Aug. 31

We've maintained a presence at an air base there to fight ISIS, among others.  Maybe if Obama didnt allow ISIS to create an entire country for themselves those marines would have never been there and we'd have no need for droning the entire middle east repeatedly.

From your own link, you inbred moron:

The pay is retroactive to align with the State Department’s parallel decision to offer danger pay to employees in Ukraine in April 2022.

The Pentagon has said a small number of U.S. troops are stationed at the American embassy in Kyiv, working as its security detail and accounting for billions of dollars of military equipment the U.S. is sending to Ukraine.

A small U.S. special operations team working out of the embassy helps Ukrainian troops with intelligence operations and provides security for high-level visitors, but is not fighting alongside Ukrainian troops on the battlefield, ABC News reported in April.

Not to mention, Trump literally pressed his Defense Department to push through the withdrawal before he left office.  Thankfully, they're smarter than he is and realized they weren't ready.

So the excuse is "the govt moves slow".. .got it.

Over a year to approve hazard pay.  Interesting.  Must be a helluva a process.

But hey thanks to those leaks we know Biden lied and we've had CIA and Special Forces running around Ukraine for a year.  Nice!

Ah, my mistake.  I shouldn't have said you ignored Trump's incompetence when 4 soldiers died on his watch in a botched mission, I should have said you defended and deflected from Trump's incompetence when 4 soldiers died on his watch in a botched mission.

Dealing with your idiocy, sonny.

Which is it, you want boots on the ground protecting our embassy troops, or you don't?

Pick one.

Hey he was the Commander in Chief and unfortunately we had to put people at risk to fight terrorists.  Its inevitably his responsibility, so youre right.

I just wish this same logic extended to Biden.  But its always Trumps fault when he screws up.

At this point, ChatGPT would be infinitely more likely to pass for a sentient human being than this trumpbot...

Of course the same logic applies to everyone.  Mistakes are made by all leaders.  But you're applying them unevenly by ignoring Trump's damaging decisions and amplifying Biden's.  At least with Biden, we got out of Afghanistan and won't be going back, which is obviously more important than problems with the withdrawal.

Is like to think that pentagon would have approved imminent danger pay sooner if all of their high level promotions weren’t being held up by some dbag, but  it’s SOP. They were lucky they made it retro back as far as they did.

If they must bring our people back to the Embassy--Im not sure why, probably symbolism, but whatever--they deserve protection.

But what I really want is a Commander in Chief that doesnt lie to our faces, and an added bonus if he knows what year it is but thats wishful thinking.
