So with Hurts now starting if the offense sucks Sunday can we  still blame Wentz?

Just because the OLine sucks and play calling might be bad doesn't excuse ALL the turnovers and sacks. Wentz isn't the only issue but he has been an issue

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Best thing that could happen to this team is for Hurts to ball out for the rest of the season. If Wentz can’t be traded or cut, the damage of his cap hit would at least be neautralized a bit if you’ve got a stud starting QB on a second round rookie contract.

This is the smart move. I think some of Carson's issues are mental and even possibly after effects from the concussion or possible PTSD. I think they were doing him more damage than good by putting him out there when he clearly isn't right.  Let him work behind the scenes on all of these things and try to get back for next year.

A mouthpiece for the team trying to prime the pump that this was not a mandated decision. Can't put much credence into a spads piece. I'd be shocked if they go back to Wentz a week later.

That’s a dumb determination to make before the Saints game has even been played. What if Hurts goes out there and has a great game against the Saints, you think they’re turning back to Carson at that point? Hell no.

That's the approach they will take. If Hurts is terrible this week, then they probably will go back to Wentz. So, this will probably be a game by game thing.  But, I would probably shut Wentz down and have him work on mechanics and getting himself right. He's taken a lot of punishment this year as it is.

"Carson's been a big part of the success that we've had. He was on that championship team that got us to that level.”

that quote from doug ^^^sums up  this teams problems.  That championship was 3 fricken years ago

There are people on this board that want Foles back because of that championship 3 years ago lol

We should be in tank mode anyways.

Saints D is going to be a rough first start. I'm excited to see what he can do tho.

Yesterday when asked how Hurts played, Doug just said "ok."  Then pressed for more he said he gave them the spark.  He was also critical of Hurts and said there's plenty of blame to go around to other players and coaches as well.  I get the impression this is not Doug's decision and he wanted to stick with Wentz.

He also repeated over and over how it's his decision alone and he wasn't going to talk about it with any other coaches or team leadership, then said he doesn't "need to ask" anyone.  They always talk about collaboration.  So it seemed like he was going out of his way to say it was his decision.  Who knows.

I'm excited to have a reason to watch a game, thank the Lord.  This team cannot possibly be any more putrid than they have been.

if he does then doug should be hired because you cant flip/flop qbs, that will screw up hurt's development.

If it's Taysom Hill, then we have a pretty good chance of pulling off an upset. He's not very accurate.  We are fairly decent at stopping the run, so if Hill can't take advantage of our secondary...then we might win a close one. At this point though, I really want the highest pick we can get because there's less of a chance of a Howie screw up.  And, I still think Howie will be here even though he shouldn't be.

LETS GO

Jalen Hurts is nowhere near as good as 2017 Carson Wentz.

Jalen Hurts is a much better player than 2020 Carson Wentz.

2017 Wentz doesn't exist anymore.

There is a lot about the 2017 Eagles that doesn’t exist anymore which points to a host of problems. They have created more holes than patches at this point. In 2017 all the patches were perfect.

People wanting to see Hurts doesn't mean he will be perfect and not make mistakes.  Harping on a couple bad throws or an INT doesn't call for a "gotcha" like "See, he sucks too!"  He's starting because Wentz is having his worst year and is terrible right now; anyone who can't admit that is blind; despite O line, WR and coaching issues

Hurts is a rookie and any rookie especially at QB has a lot to learn and develop.  You are going to expect more from a 5 year veteran, $100 million QB who is a former MVP candidate who has now regressed to among the worst QBs in the league.

Hurts has the pedigree to do well.  He's been in two of the biggest college programs in the sport and has, so far, been elite at every level.  I think the reason he was drafted is because the Eagles have had deepening concerns about Wentz for a while now - they more or less HAD to give him the big contract - and it looks like those concerns were justified.

Wentz doesn't have a Hurts-like pedigree.  Small college program and he became the "it" guy when he took the combine by storm.  But he seems fragile physically and mentally and that's a tough makeup for this team and this town.

Yeah I'm talking about their defense which is very good. Who knows how the game will turn out but that will definitely be a challenge. If Hurts does well that would be very impressive.

Yeah, but we can’t stop QB runs. Hill will probably run for over 100 yards.

I honestly have been very patient with Carson the last 3 seasons since the Super Bowl.  But I can't defend this season.  What I saw from Jalen in that limited time was very encouraging.  It's sad this had to happen but I understand Doug's decision.  Jalen is a Rookie so expectations should be kept guarded but I think he did show something being thrown into the Lambeau game.   I support this team no matter what.  If Doug feels Jalen gives us the best shot over these last 4 than let's go.

Realistic people:

Hurts does something bad: "damn, bad throw/decision”

Hurts does something good: "Great play”

But sadly those of us who dare to be critical of Wentz are labeled "haters”  by some. (not saying you, NOTW)

I fully expect Doug to finally change his offense to help Hurts out lol
