This is why it feels Flacco may be the starter... his guaranteed $ more than tripled. Wtf he was the backup for a 2 win team and has declined each year for at least 4-5 years.

Actually it makes no sense even if they want to start him.

Try using a little bit of common sense and doing some research. He was still recovering from an injury at this time last year and couldn't even pass a physical. That is why he didn't sign until almost June. When you sign in June, there are far less options for an important spot such a team's backup QB, which means less money. Fast forward to this year and he is healthy, and coming off of a year in which he played well for a horrid Jets team in the 4 games he started.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Nah paying Flacco 3.5 is.

Thanks for proving my point. You are all bent out of shape because they paid low end backup QB money for the backup QB you didn't want. Talk about embarrassing.

Common sense says don’t pay an aging, declining QB $3.5 mill to be your backup when you have a young, under construction team. But hey you guys keep waving those Pom-poms

2021 will be a crap show. Did I spoil the ending for you?

Yet you would be doing back flips if they signed Foles to that.

I would, love the guy.

For you podcast listeners, Draft Brawl has a series called "The Best Player Available Podcast,” that talks to personnel people/scouts about the 2017 draft. The first one was with the Titans’ director of player personnel (or something like that) and he goes over the Titans’ draft board and their game theory with the draft (they took Corey Davis and Adoree Jackson in round 1). It’s pretty good if you’re really into the draft.

Some of you guys assume the Eagles want to be a 0-17 team.  There has to be a parachute from Hurts if he plays the first 4 games, goes 52% again and the team is 0-4.  Bringing in an experienced QB to backup your starting QB with 4 games of NFL experience was a no-brainer.

I’d have rather brought in Mariota, but he never left the Raiders organization so that possibility may never have been there.  Trubisky would have tried to win the starting job (maybe succeeded) and he’s already proven in 4 years he’s not a franchise QB.  Sudfeld is garbage, and Lowie could pick up a better QB out of the ditch on the way to the facility.

There are only so many options available.

Flacco was 0-4 and completed 55% of his passes last year. His stats were worse than in 2019. I don’t give a rip he isn’t coming off an injury. he’s 35, 36?, has declined for 4 straight years, and the Eagles offense won’t be much better than the 2020 Jets.

Giving him that big of a raise doesn’t make sense unless you’re Dave Spadaro and get paid to wave the midnight green pom poms

I'm not waiving pom poms you Fing morphodite. I'm simply using common sense and pointing out that it's low end backup QB money, and it's the friggin backup QB. Based on the nonsense you post here on a daily basis you should try the whole common sense thing a little more often.

Yeah well Foles won a Super Bowl here and is the last QB to win a playoff game.... BDN!! LFG!!

Your point about the injury and the delay docking his 2020 salary is well-taken, but it really loses something when you say that he played well.

Those were two pretty bad picks, though.  Davis was way over drafted at #5 and Adoree Jackson is crummy in general.

It's laughable that some of the same people who would have been thrilled to see the Eagles trade for Nick Foles and take on his cap hit of 6.6 million, are all kinds of bent out of shape because they signed Joe Flacco for 3.5 million. Foles played no better than Flacco last season despite being on a far superior team.

He was on the second worst team in the league who was completely devoid of any real talent on offense. Adam Gase was his head coach/offensive coach. He still managed to have a higher QB rating that Hurts, much higher than Wentz, and had 6 TD passes to only 3 turnovers. He was/is more than adequate as a veteran backup QB to help Hurts and/or another young QB.

What nonsense?!?!?! Just a guy supporting the franchise’s only Super Bowl MVP.

I don’t give a crap about what the Eagles pay a backup QB but I just felt it was valid questioning that he got over a 300% pay increase. You said it’s because he isn’t coming off an injury and I countered with his play has declined each of the last 4 years. Whatever no need to call me names... #sticksandstones

Talk about waiting pom poms. He was on a far superior team to Flacco last season and played no better. This isn't 2017 anymore. Maybe we should bring back Blount, Ajayi, and Clement while we are at it.

Now we’re getting somewhere....

Do I really need to explain the simple concept of supply and demand to you.

Yes I support winning not every stupid move the Eagles make

Way to really stand your ground about paying an aging QB, 3.5 mil

Hey easy now grandpa. Remember I’m the guy who salts your fries

They go into that, and how Tennessee’s philosophy was to fill holes in the first round. They had Lattimore really high but decided they would go WR early because of injury concerns with Mike Williams and John Ross, and because they liked the depth of the CB class.

It’s good insight into the draft.

The pupil has become the master.  Is it up to 24 women now?

You know a bad season is coming when 36 year old Joe Flacco is the biggest discussion piece of free agency

Anybody who needed this signing to tell them that isn’t paying attention or doesn’t know football
