I think we are looking at one of Lance/Slater/Waddle/Surtain/Parsons/Paye/Rousseau at 12.

Devonta Smith has an outside chance of falling...not going for the 40 after weighing in at 170 is a huge red flag for the top 10.

Not that long ago, the Eagles would have rushed to the podium to draft Kwity Paye.  A senior DE with a big motor, smallish frame, good burst of the LOS, and great attitude is what they would dream about at night.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

It seems like all but a lock that DeVonta Smith goes to Miami.

The second contract would be as a 28-year-old, giving you three more productive seasons.

I’m not letting that stop me from drafting a guy in round 3. Round 1 it’s a much harder discussion.

Round 3, anything goes.  If someone is a big talent, but older, that's just fine.  Younger is better, but every 3rd round pick involves concessions.  If age is one of them, that's fine.

Round 1?  Honestly, I'd need to be blown away these days to draft a 4th or 5th year player in round 1.  The Eagles have a horrific history with high draft picks in older players.

Didn't he just say how much better Mac Jones was than Tua?

Reagor had a very, very disappointing rookie year.

But I would actually be excited to move forward with Waddle and Reagor as the outside WRs.  That actually could present some matchup challenges.

Doesn't change anything. 🤣

I think Van Jefferson was over drafted and went to a bad landing spot. He crushed it in camp, but they desperately want a vertical WR to space the field for Kupp and Woods. When he was picked I thought it was because they were going to move on from one of Woods or Kupp, but then they extended both. Just a bad pick for them.

It's always bad when a low-ceiling player struggles to adjust to the NFL (because of their limitations with the physical/talent jump) and then goes to the longer term development plan.  That's how they get sandwiched into bustdom and has been a common theme for our draft picks.

Reagor had a bad rookie year, but is a substantial physical talent, so one is willing to wait around.  When a JJAW transitions to the long-term development plan, it becomes a question of what the heck are we waiting for anyway?

Yasssssss...more trade downs!

I really like Paye. His name alone is great. Have you heard his story, as far as what his mom went through to get here? Crazy. There’s a video about it online. But he seems like a really solid pick. I really like that CB from Virginia Tech. I’m not into Waddle. Doesn’t do it for me. But the Jaylen Hurts connection makes it interesting. I don’t too much care about Smith’s size. The guy is a stud. But I’d take Paye at 12 unless someone surprising falls.

I’d rather Surtain/Horn over Farley or Paye.

Surtain is a risk to get beat over the top. I like Horn though. Farley, to me just looks special. Horn is gritty thouhh

I think at #12 or whatever pick we end up with, it is BPA.

That was implied in the statement, yes.  At #12 the BPA will be Surtain, Farley, or Horn.

Guess what?  If Pitts, Chase, or Zach Wilson is still on the board at #12 .... the Eagles won’t likely pick a CB.

Dolphins 2021 Schedule: @Jax, @Saints, @ LV, @ TB, @Titans, vs Baltimore, vs Cardinals, vs Colts, vs Panthers, vs Falcons, X2 Patriots, X2 Jets, X2 Bills.

I mean... 9 losses is very possible.

Paye has the height I think Gannon wants, not sure he's top 20 material.

I think Gannon wants to move toward the longer DL with the reach to get their hands up and disrupt underneath throws.

Once the Eagles made the decision to fire Doug and trade Wentz, the decision on Hurts needs to be made by the new coaching staff.  Whether Howie and Lurie knew it or not, they embarked on the path of Jalen Hurts — travel it for one season.  Let the coaching staff make the evaluation whether he can lead a contending team once it’s built.

The frustrating part is that’s what the 4 games at the end of last season should have been for — and the consensus should already be reached now.

I disagree. Judging a QB off of a partial rookie season is never really fair.

But this goes back to the problem I had with the Hurts pick from the beginning. Using a 2nd round pick on a QB is just weird, unless you’re sold he can be a franchise QB. You shouldn’t be drafting a backup at that spot. So now, you’ve used a 2nd round pick on this kid.. and after an abbreviated rookie season, you have the 6th pick and dont know whether you need to spend a first on a QB the very next year. So if you do, and then Hurts is the backup, if he could have been a good starter, you’ll never really know. But If you don’t (which now they’re clearly not) then all your money is on Hurts and you’re kinda banking on him to succeed or suck bad enough to get you another high pick to draft a QB the next year. It was just a dumb pick. And it’s totally Fed everything up. It alienated Carson, possibly got Doug fired and has Howie in a bad spot. But it’s his own doing

I’d consider it.  I haven’t looked into him enough to have a proper opinion.  I don’t think he drops to 12 with the hype around him.

To me he seems like a faster Jalen Hurts. Always looking to run. But he has a nice deep ball.

That’s why I said whether Howie and Lurie know it or not, they’ve chosen the path of Hurts for 2021 by their own choices.

IF they actually spoke with Joe Douglas about trading up for Wilson (which I doubt, since only Steichen and Brian Johnson attended his pro day — Howie and Nick did not attend) that would send a clear signal as to their intentions.  I believe it was always their intention to trade back, however.

SF would have to draft Jones at #3, CAR would have to draft Fields, and DEN would have to pass on him. An unlikely set of circumstances.

Welp, after Wilson’s pro day, he solidified himself as the number 2.  Lawrence must have thinking "eh, let’s see what he’s got”, and half way through called Meyer to remind him he beat ‘bama.

Farley’s back and relative newness to the position has me ranking him 3rd out of those 3.

So 5 QBs before we pick. Pitts, Chase, Sewell, Parsons, Surtain, Smith, Waddle. I’ll take any of them gladly. All of those could’ve been considered at 6. But no way Howie picks from this group - would make too much sense.

But by the time we get to our pick we won't be choosing from that group. We will be taking whoever is left. And that's if 5 QBs go before us.

Sounds like the Eagles came out in Hurts’ camp with this pick. Have 11 picks this year and nine next year.

2 picks in the top 10 more than likely, hopefully 3 in the 1st round overall.

You just throw things out there.   Why would Miami take him at 6 if they could possibly get a much better prospect in Waddle, Chase or Smith?   How is anything a "lock”.

Your question makes no sense. But anyway, no, I was sharing information that I read.
