So I’m definitely for Parsons if he’s the BPA at 12. I’m sick of drafting for position need because ya know it’s worked out so well lately. Take the guy who has All-Pro potential

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Some combination of Parsons, Waddle, Smith, Surtain, Farley, and Horn will be there at #12.

We're good.

I think the Eagles still win 4 games in 2020 with the best 4-3 LB in the nfl in their defense.

Sure, it would be nice.  And sure, you have to start somewhere.

I just wouldn’t value Parsons top 15 unless the coaches have a plan for him to rush the passer.

Take Farley off the first round board with the back surgery.

Tampa showed us the value of having top notch athletic linebackers.

Would I rather Waddle? Yes.

Think this draft is all about value, every pick is going to be risky b/c of lack of information, I mean a guy who sits out raises a lot of questions b/c you don't know if he would have taken another step up or regressed as opposing HCs had film on him and exploited flaws. And a lot of college teams had truncated schedules or played crippled opponents. Just a nightmare for scouts.

But it also means there are opportunities for a wheeler-dealer like Howie, because draft boards will probably differ more this season than any in memory. You're gonna have limited film and dubious pro day measurements, Zoom interviews where it'll be hard to read body language, and difficulty doing background interviews of people with first hand knowledge of prospects (the local bartender, etc).

So when Howie says so and so was high on their board, he's probably being sincere - Eagles will have players they rate higher than a lot of teams and visa versa this draft. Which means he'll be watching which players drop, if he's at #12 and there are four players ranked equal, he's listen to trade down proposals to #14-#16.

I suspect what drove this trade was the Eagle board had a bunch of guys ranked close together from #6-#15 or so, and the 1st rd next year was valued far higher than the difference in this group. And Howie knows in this crazy draft that a couple teams between #6-#11 will reach for guys who are much further down on the Eagles draft board.

Parsons’s talent warrants the 12th pick of the draft. His character concerns better come back as completely overblown though.

Disappointing?  That is decent size for a 4/3 DE.

Doesnt our new DC seem to favor the 6-5 types?

i said all along i wanted to drop back no further than 12. Well here we are and we got miamis pick next year. Take a cb and be happy

I’m reading comments in other places and I’m baffled that there are people who think the trade back was a bad move.

First-round picks are gold, especially from a team with an unproven quarterback. Miami looks like an average team unless Tua makes a leap. I think the odds are good that he isn’t close to as good as Fitz was last year.

An additional argument for Parsons...

Schwartz played a ton of cover-1/cover-3 because he wanted to always have a safety available for run fits.  Hence, the "Jenkins Role".  We were consistently at the top in run defense for this reason.

Gannon's legacy (Zimmer, Eberflus) is more cover-2.  Which would imply more resources against the pass than run.  So, this would suggest that a great linebacker that can support the run from sideline to sideline would be a key part of the scheme's success.

Smith and Mac jones going in the top 11 increase the chances that Pitts falls

I wish they showed Banks’ reaction after seeing Giles catch that ball.

What are the odds that Howie says the player they draft at 12 is the player they were targeting at 6?  100%?

99.99%.   Yes, I'm saying there is a chance.

How can anyone look at this roster and not conclude that CB and then WR are the top priorities?

By taking a long term perspective. QB is concerning. The OL is concerning. The age of the DL is concerning.

And those are all more important positions than WR and CB.

Mind you, we are in a position talent wise where we should just take BPA. But looking at the roster I wouldn’t argue with anyone who prioritized those 3 positions.

I'd definitely shore up my OL before I invested major resources in a QB.

Best way to destroy a talented young QB is to have him play behind a swiss cheese OL.

Good riddance.

Not for Gannon, Indy's linemen tend to be taller, I think that's a deliberate strategy.

We’ll see. You are making presumptions about what Gannon wants in a DE.   I suspect he wants a pass rusher who can stop the run.  I think size is a nice benefit but that’s probably more of a concern at 6’ than 6’2”.  A 6’7” tree who gets knocked off balance easily is probably not what he wants either.  I think we will see an emphasis on football IQ and motor and the word is Paye has both.

Man, all this Greg Rousseau talk got me thinking.  I still want them to sign Tanoh Kpassagnon

I would love it they signed Kpassagnon and then drafted Rousseau.  I can't imagine having 2 6-7 DE to mix in with BG/Sweat and Barnett.

They want a pass rusher who can stop the run?  How far out along that narrow limb are you willing to go?

Not sure Tua has to take a leap as opposed to a step with all the assets the Dolphins are acquiring.

Have you watched Rousseau's highlights?  He plays the run pretty well.  I'm sure there are instances where he gets knocked off balance.  Guess what though, Mailata made 6-8 Calais Campbell topple like a Jenga tower.

Give me the dynamic athlete with loads of potential for once.  We ALWAYS draft safe (unless they are drafting injured players).  I want to take a chance on guys who are physically dominant,.

Good in theory. Scary part is that Howie probably won't pick any of those players. Based on his history I see a reach at 12.

From your list, I would like any of the above to become Eagles next month (Tremble assuming Ertz is traded).

Other non-R1 prospects I like for the Eagles:-

LB Jamin Davis, Jabril Cox
DB Trill Williams,
DL Dayvion Nixon,
WR/Returner Jaelon Darden,
OL Royce Newman, D'Ante Smith,
RB Rhamondre Stevenson

really like Tremble.  Its one of the reasons I was so adamant against Pitts at 6, besides the fact that you don't draft 'slash' players in the top 10... ever.

Said this yesterday

My first instincts said Mac Jones, after thinking this over, combined with the fact the 49ers are steadfast in not trading Jimmy G, then they will draft a player who needs to be redshirted---and for me, that's Trey Lance.
