Don't wanna sound like the old guy clinging on, but do we need to change f***ing everything about the NFL?

I agree with you, it seems like the NFL likes to change things just to change things.  However, the Eagles have 9 retired numbers and they also haven't given out 12, 25 and 87 so off the bat, out of 99 numbers, 12 of them are off limits.

Having a limit on what guys can wear what numbers just doesn't make sense anymore.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

BG in the 3rd, or late 2nd, it's a AMAZING pick

him at 13...meh

I don't think it was a meh pick.  I think it can be said that were DE's picked after him that have been more productive.  BG was hardly a bad first round pick but JPP has been a more productive DE to this point and was picked at 15.  Eveson Griffen has been more productive and was a 3rd round pick.  Carlos Dunlap was more productive and was a 2nd round pick.

Wow... such a loser’s mentality. Basically saying his team is going to be trying to play catch-up for the next few years. So stupid

I like Graham and he was definitely involved in the biggest play (at the very least one of) in franchise history. Having said that, he may go down as the most overrated Eagle of all time.

Your first clue should be when you hear the word pressure. The second, when you see people saying that he has a big smile and plays the run.

You'll get flamed for this, but there is truth to it.  Forgetting Brandon Graham specifically for a second, because I don't want this to turn into a debate...but you know a DE is overrated when the fans start saying "he does so much more than rush the passer" or "it's not all about sacks, look at all the pressures."  That's generally when you know people are reaching to say someone brings more to the table than they actually do.

There are a long line of Eagle DE's that the blog/TATE/coaches say are elite run defenders and such complete players who are asked to do so much despite being light in the edge rush department.  A lot of that is hype.

I'm not necessarily extracting the rule change to anything about our Eagles, I just think it's such a stupid gimmick.

I think sacks are overrated, compare Grahams wins to dunlap, Griffen and hughes.

Graham is a winner point blank, he does more to help a team win than Griffen dunlap and hughes do.

Maybe some will say that's a cop out but if I wanted a DE who got lots of meaningless sacks id just pick babin every day.

Graham isn't an elite edge rusher or even an elite DE but he's a complete DE and teammate and he's a winner and a super bowl winner and hero.

Only JPP from that group of DEs can say the same, though let's not forget with the giants JPP was also accused of hazing and bullying rookies.

The additionally irony is that the fanbase will go to lengths to defend Graham, but then crap all over Barnett and say he was a bad value when he was picked. What they don't mention is that Graham wasn't really Graham until he was about 27 and also had some injuries early on.

What?

You can make the argument with Hughes, surety, but in what universe does Graham do more than Dunlap and Griffen? They're both better than Graham in just about every way and neither have had the line that Graham has routinely had next to him. It isn't their fault they've been a terrible teams.

How many super bowl winning strip sacks do dunlap and Griffen have?

One can say yeah but sacks and yeah but dunlap was on bad teams and Griffen was a viking, like  somehow graham has been on elite teams his whole career.

If graham doesn't get his due because he didn't play for the Bengals and had good talent next to him than either does JPP who has always been on good terms and had good to great DL next to him no?

Strip sacks of Tom Brady in the late 4th quarter of a Super Bowl:

The game is becoming lopsided.  It's sad, but it is what it is.  All about the pass.

To whatever extent a defense can become less helpless against the pass and actually disrupt it, that's a huge edge.  And the edge rusher is the best way to do so.

So to say that player X is an asset because they defend the run so well from the edge despite being a mediocre sack artist...that's not worth it to me.

You don't need to build your defense around run defense from the edges.

If graham doesn't get his due because he didn't okay for the Bengals and had good talent next to him than either does JPP who has always been on good terms and had good to great DL next to him no?

That rationale isn't really fair.  I mean is David Tyree better than every WR in his draft class just because he had one of the best SB winning receptions in NFL history?  The dude was a crap WR.

Graham had an ENORMOUS play for our franchise.  And he's otherwise been an extremely steady but unremarkable DE after a disappointing early career.

Really? The Bengals are and have always been a meme franchise and the Vikings have been historically mediocre as well. The Eagles have been a much better franchise since 2010 and we all know it.

Dunlap and Griffen are better, sorry.

David tyree was a Fringe WR graham has been a solid starter for multiple years and is a pro bowler, so your rationale isn't fair in that sense.

When they have to grasp at straws in such a way you know they lost the debate.

No one is asking for this though.

Drafting explosive EDGEs or corners that can win in press are more valuable in today's game than ever because they're rare. If you have one of them, it's so valuable.

That's a disingenuous argument and you know it.

The sister of #Chargers controlling owner Dean Spanos has filed a petition in LA Court arguing that mounting debt has imperiled the family’s finances and the only solution is to put the team up for sale. Filing suggests Jeff Bezos could be interested.

Brandon Graham's one career pro-bowl was an 8 sack effort in year 11 as a piece of a horrible defense... the selection was mostly a tip of the cap to a long-lived high character guy.  Honestly, he's really never played the position at a pro-bowl level.
