What I don’t understand...what the heck would make any meddlesome owner force pick JJAW?

Usually owners fall in love with either workouts or NCAA stars that achieved big names while in college.

What in the serious F led him to JJAW?

I suspect he knew a lot of the same people from running in powerful and affluent circles.

"I like to say I was her first body of defense," JJ said with a smile. "Anybody who wanted to contact her, meet with her, they had to go through me first, which was cool, because I got to meet some extraordinary people from around the world."

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I’m sure he’s a nice kid.

He’s 6’3” or 6’4” and 200 lbs. I don’t see how much different that is than 6’0” 170. But whatever

I dont know who you are talking about at 170.

Marshall is 6026

Hes a little taller than average, not your big 6'4'' or 6'5'' 220 pounder.

Hes got nice size but I dont really consider him a big WR.

If you guys are right about Howie being horrible and having something over Lurie to keep his job, I think I found it.

Apparently Lurie is part of this Boys club which is known for gambling, and naked golf outings. This article is from 2016

How many times has it jokingly been said that Howie has some nude pics or something? Its more feasible than people probably ever truly imagined.

Just watching highlights. College Films listed him at 6’3” and Justbombs was like 6’4”. Or vice versa.

i was talking about Devanta Smith

Anyone heard of LB Ernest Jones? Kipper had him going in round 2 ahead of other LBs like Cox, Browning and Werner.

I had never heard of him before this.

Are all these things confirmed? If so, that’s the opposite of who I thought he was, and the opposite of what I prefer as a fan.

In fact, I was thinking about it earlier today. I spend a lot of time watching videos of draft pick after draft pick every year, instead of doing other productive things. If, once again, they go rogue on draft picks I’m supposed to talk myself into, that the fanbase hates, and that are generally considered reaches, idk how much longer I can keep up my year long fandom. I’m not saying I quit on the team. But if I don’t get all involved in pre-draft stuff, then I can’t be disappointed and can just let it play out, stress-free. It seems now, each year, I evaluate these players and every year, the Eagles draft players that are widely considered reaches and they turn out that way. That’s stressful. The happiest football fans I know only care during the season. But then again, they don’t know anything about football. So I guess I’ll always be this way. I just wish they’d draft better

How easy is draft prospecting in MT?  Try fly fishing to relieve the stress.

I just read three different write ups on him and he sounds horrible

I just watched him a bit. Didn’t look bad to me, but definitely not a second round guy IMO. He has really long arms.

Which LBs project to play MLB and can play on passing downs? The guys I like are WLBs, and with Wilson here and Taylor in the pipeline, I’m not sure we’re going to be all that interested in adding another.

The Athletic had an anonymous GM guess how the top 10 would go...

1. Lawrence, Jax

2. Wilson, NYJ

3. Jones, SF

4. Fields, Atl

5. Chase, Cin

6. Pitts, Mia

7. Sewell, Det

8. Surtain, Car

9. Lance, Den

10. Horn, Dal

Makes sense except for the over drafting of Mac Jones.  I can’t remember who said it but apparently from 1980-2000 the average pick for a first round QB was 13th, and from 2000-2020 it’s 3rd, and that’s only because of when EJ Manuel was taken, or else the number would be closer to the 2nd.

TBF, Jones was really good under pressure and when blitzed his QBR was 98, couple that with Jones only being sacked 9 times in 379 drop backs and Alabama’s O line being the best in college football during the 2020 season and who the hell knows?   Jones gets rid of it quickly to the two best receivers in college  and a very good RB. When the college season was over Jones was predicted as a late first to early 2nd rounder.,

Also see a lot of mocks with the Patriots moving up to the top 8 for a QB, that seems really weird considering Belichick’s past QB’s drafted unless McDaniels has some pull.

Just go with Red Wolves or Red Tails and be done with it. This isn’t hard.

Sadly, fly fishing here on Mill Creek where I live  is only really productive a few months a year. Internet sucks here, so draft prospecting isn’t as easy as it was in VA. But I still spend a lot of time knowing which picks I’d be happy with and which ones I wouldn’t. Barmore seems to be the perfect Howie pick.

Kipper doesn’t really do the work, but he does have great connections in the league. If Mecole Hardman can go in round 2, I guess Schwartz can too.

I just dont think JJAW is a guy who loves football. He was really deeply in to politics in college bumping elbows with some big people. I dont know how you get the opportunities he did while focusing 100% effort on your major D1 athletic program. Then you see his body which is not an NFL body and the lack of attention to detail in his routes. I think hes another Fireman type pick. And Im sure he blew the roof off with great interviews and can see why Lurie would love him.

Simi is a different style of WR though. Hes got better size AND explosiveness. He ran a 4.3 and you can see the speed on tape. Id be fine with that pick in the mid rounds.

If the go for a bigger WR for me its probably 1. Nico Collins, 2. Simi Fehoko

I'd be OK with Simi if they took another WR to compliment him like an Amari Rodgers, Dyami Brown, Kadarius Toney, Rondale Moore.

If Simi is the only WR they come away with, that would be disheartening.

I'm still leaning towards my gut feeling that Lurie had some sort of man love affair with Howie when he was an intern and Howie has threatened to use that but that sure is interesting to see.

In a WO class full of Smurf’s , Simi will be in demand , and go early day 2 , big , fast and can make the tough catches .

Better to go forward then backwards.....

Uh-huh, sure

So if the Eagles are dead set on Hurts being the guy for 2021, the best possible way to run the offense would be a similar style to the Ravens. Obviously, Hurts is no Lamar but I see no other way. I wouldn’t be shocked to see two (yes 2) RBs taken by round 5.

What's all this about trading back into the top 10 I keep seeing?

Hurts is a much better passer than Lamar. And Sirianni will make tweaks to take advantage of his mobility, but it's going to be some variant on the Reich offensive scheme. A lot more scheming to get targets open on multiple levels, with outlets available when deep targets are covered, and the goal to get the ball out within 3 seconds on most passing plays - setting up the occasional deep shot. What you won't see a lot of is 4 deep routes and the QB praying the OL will hold up.

Howie, like any good GM, is probably calling around the league, testing the waters for a possible trade up (and other GMs are calling him about a possible move down). And it's also a way to gather intel on the intentions of other GMs.

This is normal pre-draft activity, you can't make deals in 10 minutes with the clock running if you haven't laid the groundwork pre-draft, and you don't know who will be left when your pick approaches. The media then jumps on every phone call they hear about as evidence that a deal is going to be made.

To be fair we don’t know what or how Siri will do , his next game as a HC , will be his first game as a HC .

I asked last night and got no answers: who are the top five or so MLB prospects who project to play all three downs? Are there even that many?

I agree with Les. So many aggregators take small snippets and either take it out of context or twist the words to make it something it isn’t. Aggregate journalism is just bad in general. They draw the clicks away from the real reporters.
