I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Nah, man. Rock Scissors Paper is the true test.

Dillard was slated to be the starting LT last season before he tore his biceps.

If he's good enough for Stoutland, he's good enough for me.

That Shaun Andrews story was interesting, seems when he arrived, the team had a well established veteran clique.

That's something Sirianni and Howie will have to address, if you're rebuilding and bringing in a lot of young players, you need to ship out any veteran who is a hindrance to player development and a cancer in the clubhouse. It's one thing to have a tight veteran group on a winning team that demands rookies prove themselves worthy (though I frown on frat boy antics), quite another to have a veteran group that sees young players as threats and tries to sabotage them.

Howie said in the PC this week that Seumalo gives them flexibility.  It could be a C or G drafted; if the Eagles had Humphrey on the board at #37 they might pick him, but the same holds true for Wyatt Davis — slide Seumalo to C and Davis becomes your LG of the future.

How about slide Seumalo to the bench as the 6th man 🙌

You know there is an actual organization called the World Rock Paper Scissors Association right? There are people out there that compete in tournaments all the time. There is a lot of real psychological strategy.

Btw playing the game and working hard doesn’t exactly mean you’re competitive. Most people that are competitive are competing with themselves and constantly observing others to make sure they are ahead. It’s just a different level.

Tom Brady is a perfect example of a competitor. Carson Wentz is actually a good example of someone who works hard, is talented, hates to lose, but isn’t competitive. He didn’t want to compete with Foles. He ran away when he got benched for Hurts.

I would not like to grab a beer with any member of this organization.

Brooks will be 32 in August. He should have 3-4 years of top flight play left in him if he's healthy.

Peters had a similar injury at 30, came back at 31 and made the pro bowl 4 straight times and all pro once, and that was at LT.

He had major injuries the past few years and costs a ton and our cap situation still isn't that good.  It could be a business decision, if not in 2021 then 2022. You can't wait for him to sustain another injury. If he looks healthy throughout camp I'm saying it wouldn't shock me if he's moved.

With this discussion about Slater at LG...I really don't like the idea of drafting someone high for their flexibility.  Draft someone as an all pro-LG if you think they project that way.  But don't draft someone because of optionality....Someone who isn't long enough for OT but has great athleticism for OG.

That sent me down a rabbit hole....we drafted a college OT in Shawn Andrews who was a prototypical RG in round 1.  And this article popped up:

https://www.inquirer.com/philly/sports/eagles/111913_Former_NFL_OL_Shawn_Andrews_Time_with_Eagles_was_like_I_was_in_a_living_hell.html

We haven't had a good Mcnabb bashing in a while, so maybe worth a read.

Wow........I've never read this or heard these quotes.  Cool.........so after we lost the SB, some of the teammates were peeing on each other in the shower.  Sounds about right.

Good thing Andrews didn't name names when he was talking about some of those other teammates.  If he mentioned Dawkins, he probably would have had to enter the witness protection program.

Not even those from the mystical school of RPS? there is such a thing.  And there are RPS trainers for the players.

With all of the fun sports, games, and other competitions out there, what kind of person would choose to go to RPS school?  I'm genuinely curious, but I won't take it any further than this board, otherwise I'll probably end up like the kids in Midsommar.

Im gonna fight you, there's gonna be 2 hits, I hit you and you hit the ground, fella, woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

If people could just accept that RPS is a total waste of time and has zero bearing on what level of competitor a person is then we wouldn’t be having this conversation. This is a classic case of overthinking it. They’re getting no information on competitiveness from it.

I will repeat my prediction: By the end of the season, Eagles fans will question whether Sirianni knows how to play rock-paper-scissors (or anything else for that matter).

Media overblown narrative

No, it is not a media overblown narrative. Sirianni volunteered the information at a press conference. We became aware of said comments and have been discussing them. The "media" is not driving this, at least in here.

It is just a lazy intellectual argument to blame everything on the media.

Looking at the draft value chart, 31 + 27 (Baltimore's 1st) is roughly the value of 12.

That's a tough call for me. There's no elite prospect, but would you rather have one of Horn/Surtain/Smith/Slater or 2 of Davis/Paye/Bateman/Collins/Newsome/Barmore/Tryon/Moehrig.

If Brooks looks healthy in camp that means we have one of the best, if not the best guard in the NFL.  I don't care if he's 32.  He is in ridiculous shape right now.  Did anyone give up on JP after his numerous injuries or did we say, "Man I can't wait to get JP back, we're going to have the best LT in the NFL again."   Why are we treating Brooks and even Lane Johnson any different?  JP's body became very thick around the waist the older he got.  Both Brooks and Johnson have taken working out to the next level so I think they can continue playing at a high level.

I look at a guy like Richie Incognito.  He's going to be 36, made the Pro Bowl at age 33, 34 and 35.

Jason Peters hung on too long.  He was however a top 5 LT until about age 36.  His last 2 years really dropped off.

I think we can get 3 more years out of Brooks.  He could be a great professional influence and mentor for Nate Herbig.  Herbig is almost 23.  Let him learn how to play, get in NFL shape and when Brooks is done, Herbig will be 26, in his prime and ready to take over when the Eagles are back on track. He's going to be in line for his 2nd contract and you'll be able to lock him in on a cheaper contract before he's a starter.

Keep in mind, Brandon Brooks signed here when he was 27.  Stefan Wisniewski  was 27 when he signed here.  Evan Mathis was 30 and we got nearly 4 good/dominant years out of hm.

If we draft someone like Slater at 12, he's getting a $17 million contract with $10 million signing bonus.  In 3 years, when he's due his next contract, he's going to need a significant bump in salary.  Herbig, if he continues to improve, should be signing his 2nd contract for about what pick 12 gets this year.  Seumalo signed a 3-year $17 million deal for example.

I feel very strongly about not using a high pick on OL when we have established veterans who still could be at the top of their game IF healthy.

I know we need to rebuild, but I would personally rather stay at 12.  I've seen multiple reports that this is basically 13-14 person draft with a dramatic drop off in talent.  What scares me is that we will be sitting there at 12 with Kwity Paye staring us in the face.  That along with Barmore at 12 would send me into psychotic rage.

I have no real issues with Sirianni. I was good with the hire. It’s be nice if he were better with the media, but he seems genuine and detail oriented. I really like his coaching staff.

I think for the most part people are overreacting to his press conferences. I think it’s stupid to try and use RPS to determine competitiveness, but I don’t think it’s any kind of reflection on him as a coach either.

I am really commenting on the behavior of Eagles fans. I expect the Eagles to do poorly next season. Consequently, the fanbase will conclude that Sirianni sucks.

Zaven Collins at 22-28 plus whatever picks acquired to move back is MUCH better than Kwitty Paye at 12

Gotcha. I do suspect there will be some growing pains, maybe some bad ones. Something about Lurie’s comments about how excited about the coach he is "going to be.” Makes me think they expect some too.

This is from the website of a RPS league in Philly that Sirianni probably already belongs to.

You can learn a lot more about RPS here http://rpscityleague.com/pro-rps/advanced-strategies/

"Mystical” Schools

Finally, it bears mentioning that there are also "Mystical Schools” of RPS. These instruct students to select their throw based on some inner force, higher power, or telepathic premonition. Such approaches vary so widely among themselves and results are so mixed (or mixed-up!) that there is no point in trying to catalogue or categorize them. Nevertheless, the well-trained RPS player will be aware that these schools exist and know their basic tenets.

If Slater is indeed the pick, gotta say a dream scenario could be the O-Line being set for the next 7-10 years if they draft a Center on Day 2 as well.

LT - Dillard

LG - Seumalo

C - Creed/Landon/Meinerz

RG - Slater

RT - Mailata

Even in the event that Dillard is indeed a bust, you move Slater to tackle.

I agree.  I probably shouldn't, but I'm going to trust that they don't do something that stupid at 12 this year and actually pick the talent that's sitting there.
