The pick was absolutely moronic and even more baffling as to why Howie still has a job, as all insiders state Howie went rogue and advocated for Hurts by himself. If they never had any intention on moving on from Wentz, then why did Lurie okay the Hurts selection

How many 16 game seasons does Wentz have under his belt?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

What kind of stats at the end of next season does Wentz need for people to think he's still the future?

You don't take QB insurance in the 2nd round. A horrible usage of resources. A 2nd rounder is a premium pick. You don't use it on someone who will only be relevant if the guy you're committed to gets injured.

clearly, from the first second the pick was made even until right now, the pick was never about moving on from Wentz.

It was about getting a backup QB.

I agree, and that's the one scenario in which the pick makes the least amount of sense.

It would actually make a little bit of sense if they lost faith in Wentz as a player and really liked Hurts. Taking a backup QB in round 2 is beyond stupid.

well, since he sucked..... that seems easy. Meanwhile, look for a trade and take whats offered.

Cmon, "sucked" is too strong a word. But yeah, I want to trade him just not sure for what. He's a cheap QB for the next 3 years who showed promise and leadership.

#53 is NOT a premium pick, around #40 is where the second tranche ends (the first around #20 or so).

The odds are 50/50 to find a starter at #53, and far far lower of finding an all pro caliber player.

Meanwhile, QB is the premium position, as Joe Gibbs once said, The most important player on any team is the quarterback. The second-most important player? The backup quarterback.

And college spread QBs are the best choice of backups, since they have a better chance of succeeding on short notice without first team reps.

There are two approaches, "we're f---d anyway", usually a team with an elite durable QB who is unlikely to go down for long, or the Gibbs/Shula approach, winning SBs with backup QBs like the Eagles did with Foles. If you have Rodgers, Peyton in his prime or Brady, you might as well forget the backup, the odds of injury are low and the dropoff is extreme. But on most teams, either the starter isn't that durable or the backup is good enough to win with that team.

Not thrilled that Doug isn’t here but willing to give Nick a chance (especially because he seems extremely similar to...Doug Pederson).

As for what this means for Carson, I don’t really care. He plays anywhere near as poorly as he played this year, Hurts will beat him out and be clearly the better QB next year (and we will win a lot of games IMO)

If Carson gets his act together, then he’ll deserve to start (and we’ll win a lot of games). He’s an incredible talent.

Good luck Nick!

Birds with Friends is hard to listen to sometimes when Bo Wulf goes off on random tangents all the time.

...Jeremy Chinn was there. The personnel staff wanted him. He's been an absolute stud for Carolina. We need safety help badly.

Howie took a dude who won't play if Lurie gets his way.

It's ridiculous.

64% comp, 3:1 TD/INT ratio are the basic targets

Too silly

Love Sheil, like Zach but Bo is annoying

I'm not listening yet, did Bo go on a tangent yet about how they hired a white coach and didn't hire Duce or Bieniemy? I'm expecting one given what he said last episode.

he's going to have to drastically reduce his turnovers, that's the most important thing for the type of team we'll have

keep us competitive and try to win close game.

Any word on when Nick Sirianni's introductory press conference is?

Yeah, he definitely derails the show, and the games he makes up are so convoluted and forced that I skip past them now.

He needs to know he’s not as funny as he thinks he is.

Yeah, first thing he started talking about was the Rooney Rule before even getting into Sirianni.

It’s just gonna be Howie working a teleprompter, if you ask McLane

Yeah he is really not that funny at all. Sheil even seems annoyed with his dopey games at times too

Chinn went at #61, and we don't know if he was the next pick or there were 2 or 3 guys ahead of him. Hindsight is 20/20.

Chinn hasn't been an "absolute stud" - he struggled his first five games, then played solid the rest of the season.

Hey, we could have taken Kamren Curl in the 7th rd, he played as well as Chinn.

We could have double dipped or used that 2nd rounder to trade up too

When looking at the stats of last season it's pretty insane what Rodgers did

as a backup, hes fine. He can continue to improve as a passer for a few years, and his legs give you a chance to win. Having a chance to win is what you want from your backup QB. In that regard, the pick is a success. If they were going to contend for a super bowl next year, then they should/would keep him. As a "QB" factory who is beginning a re-build, now you look to cash in on the value youve created.

The report from several insiders was Chinn was the guy, but Howie wanted Hurts.

Thats ridiculous. I defend reporters, but they have to acknowledge they don’t have but 1 percent of the information that these teams have when it comes to hiring coaches.

Do I think there are some minority candidates that are qualified and probably deserve jobs? Sure. But I certainly wouldn’t be so bold as to trash specific teams for not hiring a certain candidate. And Bieniemy has had so many interviews and has been passed over that I don’t think he’s nearly the candidate the media believes.

Yup. Chinn and Dobbins were the highest on the board, in that order.

Agreed. Bo even said he thinks it's obvious that Sirianni wouldn't have been hired if he were black. Bo always has a problem with everything someone does. Guy needs to be more self critical instead.
