Speaking of, here is my latest with the Jets trading up.

@Outlaw @Ray75 what's your thoughts on this one ???

I would be extremely disappointed if we dropped out of the top 12-14. We do not have a good past when we draft outside of the top 12. We need to hit on that first rounder and top 12 is where we need to be.

Plus lets be honest, to drop down that far, a team is giving up quite a bit. I dont see it really happening. Trying to be more realistic approach.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

These are really good picks. Only thing I might do differently is target a CB2 at 38 instead of DE.

As @Iggles25 pointed out, a lot of simulators have the Jets moving up to get a QB at 6 after taking Sewell at 2.

Currently the Eagles have 3 top 100 picks, then do not pick until the 5th ( 150 range depending on comp picks ).  We need quantity as much as quality this year as we will be gutting the roster to get under the cap to start the league year.

I would rather have 8 top 150 picks with Bateman over 3 top 150 picks with Chase.

Would have had to reach for a CB ranked about 50, and we may have to draft a DE with Graham old, Vinny gone, and possibly Barnett gone.

Hey Beast - congrats on the Bucs.

Simulators are just that. However have we ever seen a team have a top 10 pick only to trade back into the top 10 for a second pick? This is even worse with having both in top 6. The chances i would say are pretty much nill. I would think the Jets would rather trade for a QB then give up all those picks. Esp this QB class which is not that good.

On TDN Mock Draft Simulator, the Panthers, Lions, 49ers, and Jets are consistently trying to trade up for a QB. Or for the Jets if they pick a QB at 2 a top WR.

The Lions usually giving up a 3rd to move up. The 49ers a 2nd and 2022 mid round pick. The Jets a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

That Jets trade down to 23 is very enticing, seeing that all of their picks are near the top of each round.

Mock draft season this year will be interesting!

23 feels too far

14-15 is about the furthest i would be willing to drop

Jets would have to give up multiple 1's, plus additional picks in this draft to get Watson.  They are not giving up any future picks in this scenario, and get a generational LT and a QB.

I was also intrigued by the Kentucky center

but he measured in snall with Trex arms and baby hands

im out

They dont have to get Watson. At the same time Watson is a sure thing compared to giving up 2-3 picks for a guy in this draft which is extremely unknown. We have to be honest, this is a very poor QB draft class, esp one coming off a season that has a * next to it. However I also think Watson will go for less then most think dues to him forcing his way out. But even if it ends up being a 1st and a few other picks spread out, would be well worth it over spending the capital to move up 17 spots to draft one of these guys.

I’d be better if we were able to recoup 4 total picks in the top 50.  That’s what we really need.  I’m not to set on being in the mid teens as much as I am about volume/value.

I just dont see a team giving up all that draft capital to move up from the 20's, esp for one of these QBs. The gap between Lawrence and the 2nd tier is huge.I think the QBs that will be avail in the late first have just as good a ceiling as Wilson and the next of a long list of failures from Ohio State.

If we are dropping that far i want a first next year for starters

Id be ok with that.

Im not sold on this draft this year. There are so many issues going into it. No combine. A college season that was all over the place. Its a huge challenge scouting for this draft. Thats why Id be happier sticking where we are or staying in the top 12. We struggled with having a full season, having combines, work outs etc. All that is off the table in this draft which makes it a bigger wildcard.

I'm not that worried about the draft, if we hit on our 1st and 2nd, the rest are depth for 2021, and developmental prospects for 2022.

For 2021, it comes down to the new coaching staff coaching up players on the current roster, and Howie finding some SFA gems.

First order of business will be to review game film and see who they want to keep, won't be surprised to see a half dozen players waived over the next month or two, and more once they have the draft and sign a bunch of UDFAs and SFAs - the new coaches won't want to waste time trying to coach up scrubs they don't see as having enough upside or who are bad fits to their schemes.

That's a strong argument for trading down, collect lottery tickets and hope to hit on some late round gambles. There will be more misses this year and guys who fall through the cracks.

I agree with this philosophy but you want Lowie trying to hit on more picks?  I am worried about that.  Maybe less is more in this case.

CBS sports just released their new NFL 2021 mock.

Has the Eagles taking QB Justin Fields.

Right? I mean I can’t see that happening but at the same time I never thought the Eagles would take Hurts at 53 last year. I put nothing past Howie.

I don't think Texans are going to be able to take any team behind the shed with trading Watson

I don't see it happening. Nick is going to try and fix Wentz. If he's not able to then I hope next years draft has good QBs

Tech your not allowed or so called frown upon but teams have done it plenty of times. I remember when we tagged Foles and speculation was that we did it to trade Foles the Media and NFL fans went crazy showing that it was not allowed. yet other teams have done it. Its only when the Eagles try it that the rule is brought up. Haters gonna Hate.

We never tagged Foles, but that is who the argument was about.  A group of us said to tag and trade him, and all we heard is you can not do it, even though it is done all the time.

i thought we tagged him but then rescinded it only weeks later. Couldnt remember.
