McCarthy has said he has no interest in negotiating with the Dems, so it’s a non starter

the only plausible - but highly unlikely - route would be to go completely outside current leadership and nominate a moderate republican that enough democrats could get on board with.

but almost no chance that happens.

If the shoe was on the other foot and the squad was holding out on a Pelosi vote, there's no way in hell moderate Republicans would vote for Pelosi regardless of what promises might be extracted. And Pelosi is far more likely to honor any deals made than McCarthy.

Moderates tend to come from more competitive districts. It makes it difficult when the political machines of both parties have media enterprises behind them that excoriate any and all forms of compromise, because they've spent a generation convincing half the nation that the other half is trying to destroy it.

With as long as its gone on, if the moderate dems ( or any dems really) cared about a functional govt and cared about people (they dont) wouldnt it be in the best interest of the country to put him in and marginalize the trump morons?

Always blame the other side even if yours is now run by la bunch of loonies. This is the republicans crap show - just like Trunp, just like Jan 6. Own this garbage.

The way the republicans (and to a slightly lesser extent the Dems) have acted acted over the last 20 years isn’t exactly conducive to bi-partisanship.

"Dems don't care enough to save America from the party I continue to vote for and support" is the content I'm here for.

Keep on digging that hole with those blinders on, little fella.

GOP supporters talking about the best interests of the country. That's funny. Sure the Dems are fools, idiots and smacked asses, and yet, the GOP has devolved into a clown car rodeo of stupid.

There is a difference.

Matt Gaetz Threatens to Resign Over McCarthy’s Speaker Fight

"If Democrats join up to elect a moderate Republican, I will resign from the House of Representatives. That is how certain I am. I can assure your viewers that won’t happen.”

Dems need assurances that Boebert and Santos will also resign before they play ball.

The 20 Radical Extremists don't care. They aren't here to govern. They are here to destroy.

The incoming Republican chairmen of the House's Foreign Affairs, Armed Services and Intelligence committees all said national security was at risk.

On the anniversary, the 20 radical extremists are accomplishing what the Insurrectionists couldn't, a complete and total shutdown of Congress. Congrats to all the Cult members.

Haha, "TV told me it's embarrassing that not all Republicans want to maintain the status quo so you should be embarrassed!"

Yes. 20 people don't agree with the consensus of their party so they are going to hold out until they get concessions they want or until they can force a new candidate to emerge. The process is working as it's intended. We've become accustomed to seeing swamp creature scumbags fall in line and vote down party lines so tv pundits don't say it's "embarrassing" they haven't come to a consensus.

  Of course Kz's on board with the attention whoors.

What's embarrassing, and should be for anyone who isn't a brainwashed cult member, is how Congress usually operates. Voting on massively bloated bills written by lobbyists a few hours after receiving them without actually having read them.

The funny thing is, that's not even a thought you came to on your own. You're literally just repeating what tv pundits are saying.

Standard go to line, you listen to the media.  I don't need the media to tell me the Republican party is a ish show.  Even their demi-god Trump told them to fall in line, and he now has no power over these loon's he help get elected.

Gee, I can't imagine why those 20 holdouts don't want to maintain the status quo! Congress has done such an amazing job recently!

Imagine thinking this in the year 2023 lmao
