Standard go to line, you listen to the media.  I don't need the media to tell me the Republican party is a ish show.  Even their demi-god Trump told them to fall in line, and he now has no power over these loon's he help get elected.

Oh no, McCarthy doesn't have the necessary amount of votes so now Congress is going to have to debate and continue re-voting until a candidate who has the required number of votes emerges!? It's just so embarrassing that republicans didn't reach an immediate consensus around the guy Trump wanted!

  Right, Kz, the TV told me you'd be on board with the attention whoors.

Describing them as "attention hoors" is what tv pundits told you, windmill. God, you're aggressively retarded.

They have had two years, and have been working on it for two years, and had an agreement.  Now the looney toon faction of the repugs is revolting to get what they want.  And it is what THEY want, and has nothing to do with the voters who elected them, they do not care about them.

sh**libs: Trump is literally Hitler and the anti-christ rolled into one.

Also sh**libs: Republicans are not immediately falling in line with Trump's preferred speaker candidate, how embarrassing for them.

Right, Republicans in Congress have done an amazing job at representing the interests of their voters! This is such a crazy betrayal of that. I think they're just doing it because they want attention!!

The 20 are like the Joker.

You just nailed the Dem MO since the New Deal. Own it

One side manages to reign in their loonies and fall in line with their moderate wing.

The other side now has the MAGA loonies in control of the party and was the last president and will likely be the  next presidential candidate again.

Nice try but your false equivalence fails.

And those MAGA loonies are not even following the lead of the MAGA king.

Ro Khanna floated a few names (including Bucks' Fitzpatrick) of moderate Republicans that he said could get a few Democrats to get in board with, as long as these rules aren't stacked up against the speaker.

Fitzpatrick couldn't lead ants to a picnic.  That ain't happening.

With as long as its gone on, if the moderate dems ( or any dems really) cared about a functional govt and cared about people (they dont) wouldnt it be in the best interest of the country to put him in and marginalize the trump morons?

Not McCarthy. @vikas83's proposal of Cheney or Kinzinger might work.

Yes. 20 people don't agree with the consensus of their party so they are going to hold out until they get concessions they want or until they can force a new candidate to emerge. The process is working as it's intended. We've become accustomed to seeing swamp creature scumbags fall in line and vote down party lines so tv pundits don't say it's "embarrassing" they haven't come to a consensus.

Not as divided as we were during slavery is a weird flex, but ok.

"This was a common occurrence in the years leading up to the Civil War!" may not be strongest argument my guy.

EDIT: @Gannan beat me to it

1819, one of the years leading up to the civil war.

Let's pace ourselves, guys. We don't need a kz faceplant amidst all this entertainment. We can save it for another day.

McCarthy looks weak and pathetic negotiating against himself. He should grow some stones, stand up to the 20 radical, extremists, tell them that any deal is now off the table and go to hell. That he will sit here and keep voting and let them come to him. Instead he is chasing them around. Weak. Make a stand or withdrawl. Those are the only options he has.

How can the moderate republicans sit back and watch McCarthy allow the radicals to control the party. The moderates need to take a stand.

I wonder if for a few minor concessions, and McCarthy taking all his deals with the 20 off the table if he could get enough Dems to come along.

IMO he can. He can agree not to shut the government down, increase the debt ceiling to prevent a defaut and economic disaster for starters. Personally, I think it's time to make a deal. It's in the Dems best interests to prevent him from making a deal with the extremists who want to watch it all burn down. Sort of like the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Whatever he does, he will be a weak Speaker unless he is willing to compromise. Of course compromising with Dems is a death sentence for him among republicans. After all, Dems are the enemy.

It wont matter, after this disaster, and if Trump is the candidate in 2024, the Dems are going to sweep and hold the white house, senate and house.

I hope you're are right. But, If the House has no Speaker, they can't conduct business. How can the Congress then, Certify the Election result. Hoping this doesn't go that long, but it's possible. I believe it's the 20s long term plan.

That is why I think this gets done today, and McCarthy gets support from places he does not want to.
