Kentucky state legislature is considering a law that would allow the party of a politician leaving office to pick the successor, until a special election is held. Currently, the governor chooses the replacement. KY Governor Beshear is a Democrat.

Better yet, let's do away with elections so our leaders can hand power down to their children just like the founders intended.

Let me give you the optimistic spin. McConnell wants this so he can go anti-Trump hard through 2024, then resign and hand the seat to a successor who can run as an incumbent in 2026.

Why not just give the job to the one transgender woman in town so we can all feel better about ourselves?

i heard a brief discussion about this on the radio this morning. with the balance of power in congress being so close, it could really impact things. they brought up bernie as a dem senator in a state w/ a repug governor.

I beleive al quaeda is currently being supported by the Obiden administration in Syria

Sounds like a move you'd be thrilled about seeing as how you've spent 2 months sympathizing with terrorists

I still don't like it. If the backwards inbred rednecks of Kentucky want to elect a Trumpbot, that's their right. Cue @NOTW to scold me for making fun of people from Kentucky.

Weird pivot from fascism to a tranny.

I don’t usually follow Syrian politics so I don’t know whether anyone stole their election or not

Yes, thanks for clarifying that you believe wholeheartedly terrorism is justified as long as the radicalized terrorists believe the lies told to them by their terrorist leader.

Everyone has their own justifications for terrorism, don’t they? Some because their election was stolen, some because Twitter mobs go nuts over some guy ODing in drugs

It's an interesting thought. Let's play this out.... McConnell steps down, is replaced by a Democrat, who then runs in a special election. GOP voters choose a challenger. Right now they're coming down hard on McConnell for not completely supporting Trump. So they could easily choose another crazy Q believer... And this is Kentucky, so.... Can you see a candidate like MTG/Boebert winning?

Instead, McConnell wants to choose his successor as somebody who is loyal to him, say current KY AG Daniel Cameron.... Would KY GOP voters relent, to primary another crazy Q candidate in the special election? Probably not.

Also, the current razor thin party margins in Senate may have a lot to do with this, as @mr_hunt mentions.

No. I don't justify terrorism. Because, ya know, I'm not a butthurt incel moron who believes conspiracy theories and blames others for my own self-inflicted failures.

Oh so you condemned the riots last summer?

Of course. But you should definitely cry more about your sore loser terrorist leader getting crushed and going down in history as an abject failure and the worst to hold the office. That's your legacy, trumpbot. Own it. It's yours forever.

If they charged one person in Congress, who do you think it would be?

I’m sure Rachel Maddow will have that scoop tonight

Yeah, that would be a real shame if she did.

It's weird that the media would cover...checks notes....possible treason from members of congress.
