October 28, 20214 yr 3 hours ago, Kz! said: Just 85% vaxxed. No biggie. 🤣 To be fair, the population density of Singapore is 18645 per square mile. The US is 93. For comparison, NYC is 27k and Chicago is 18K. Average age in Singapore is 42, average age in the US is 38, so they also have an older (and thus more vulnerable) population. So denser and older will almost certainly end with higher infection rates regardless of vaccination levels or mask mandates. The vaccines are a stop gap anyway. And yes, like the flu, they don’t actually make you immune and need to be updated for different strains. The idea is to curb symptoms and prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. But let’s be honest that you’d expect a higher infection and death rate in an older, denser country than a younger one with vast rural areas and a huge population living in suburbia. Frankly, the politicalization of COVID is disgusting. Everyone thinks they’re a Fing expert when even actual experts have disagreements over the level of the vaccine’s effectiveness and the best course of public health policy. The simple truth is we don’t know for certain much other than most people will receive a short term benefit from the vaccine and most people won’t have any short term adverse reactions. We don’t know how many deaths Singapore’s vaccination rate and mask mandate prevented. We don’t know what it would be otherwise.

Death rate does not equal total deaths, professor. 14 hours ago, JohnSnowsHair said: Florida is 6.5% of the US population but accounts for 9% of COVID deaths in 2021. #winning. One is completely scientifically illiterate and seems to draw most of his income from YouTube views and the other openly cheers on cop killers and sex traffickers. Other than that, yeah, pretty much the same person.

October 28, 20214 yr For anyone lamenting "we're gonna need boosters forever!" read up on the history of hep B vaccine scheduling.
October 28, 20214 yr I'm really tired of people coming into work not feeling well. With remote access available to us, it's just plain dumb! There was some hacking going on around here yesterday and this morning, sure enough, and email that an employee has tested positive. Assuming it is the one that was hacking, I was not in close contact. With me having a mild case of health anxiety anytime I hear of this, my crazy self thinks oh God I'm sick. Headache, sore throat. Stop it, just stop!!! I am and should be fine. I just wish people would stay home if they're sick. Too much to ask I guess.
