Instead of selling their policies to the working class, they mock them for being idiots and not understanding. Now...they are idiots. That's why they are poor. But coming off as condescending d-heads doesn't get you votes. 2. Democrats fundamentally misunderstand a basic tenet of the older working class (and I mean working here, not the entitled millennial morons) -- they don't all just want free stuff from daddy government. They want to advance and believe that is was based on their own merit. So messages about the game being rigged -- those resonate. Messages about making rich people pay their fair share so they can simply get a check won't work. People don't want to be told they need assistance because they hear it as having to admit failure. 3. The woke stuff is just too prevalent and dominates the rest. Especially when you involve their kids. Now this is all changing with the current generation of losers that is coming up, but the voting base is still made up of enough people who don't want to be told they need government to help them because they failed in life. The Democrats are pressing too hard -- their socialist dream is still 10-20 years away. blue jeans & flannel shirts should be part of the dems' messaging!
November 4, 20214 yr Oh another retracted ivermectin study? Weird how this keeps happening despite being assured by a really well educated guy with a stuffed cabbage avatar that it totally works!

I don't see a lot of politicians mocking poor people (except on the right, when they deride US cities as sheet holes). Late night comedians? Sure, but their job is to mock people. 2. I get your point here but I think Trump disproved this one. He bragged about hand-outs even to the point of sending a signed letter along with his government check. People have absolutely no problem excepting any opportunity to get ahead, whether that help comes from the government or otherwise. It just has to be wrapped in the right social package. 3. Agree on this one. Like I've said, the woke sheet is always stupid. #1 goes to the Democrat party becoming the party of the college educated and professional class, which has resulted in some Democrats mocking the blue-collar rural types ("flyover country", "pennsyltucky", "deplorables", "clinging to their guns" etc.)
November 4, 20214 yr So we all ready for the Jan. 4th vaccine mandate? It's gonna be a shitshow. Not sure if you're LA County @vikas83 but good luck out there.

You can pick and choose a few instances over the last decade where a Dem politician made an off color remark about people in the country (and every time it was magnified x1000), but there are endless examples of Republicans laying into poor and blue-color Americans in the cities (in particularly blunt language). The difference is how it's framed. After every election that the Dems lose, there are endless stories about how they didn't respect flyover country, but when Republicans lose an election no one mentions how they disrespected Americans in the city. Instead, it's called racism, which of course, is the dumbest and most exclusionary way you could frame it.
November 4, 20214 yr Biden's immediate response to dems getting steamrolled in the VA election is to go full fascist on businesses and force vaccine mandates down their throats. Bold strategy. New Fauci bullying vid just dropped. Look at this POS squirm:

The big difference IMO is that the people being insulted by Republican candidates were unlikely to vote republican regardless. Democrats alienate voters they need to win races. Strategically speaking, being condescending to Midwest/southern middle class suburbanites has a much bigger voter implications than being insulting to urban populations.

You mention the suburbanites, but that's who both parties need to win. Not the people in flyover country and not the people in heart of cities. The suburbs tend to turn elections one way or the other. The question is, how do suburbanites see themselves? Do you really think they're offended when country folks are labeled as hillbillies? Or when people in cities are labeled as criminals? I don't think they care either way. In fact, I think they largely agree with both of those assessments.
November 4, 20214 yr This is concerning. I'd like to see data like this for all countries' vaccine rollouts:

Probably not. But in Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia etc, yeah I think the perception that they're being ignored or arent important to a party absolutely has implications in voting patterns.

Here's the problem with that: democrats ASSUME those policies are what "poor whites" want, but they haven't actually asked them. Poor rural voters aren't looking for those policies.
