Speaking definitively about stopping transmission was always a little strange, though. Now, obviously, it's easy to look at those videos and laugh since we all know how worthless the vaccines are at limiting transmission, but even back then The Science™ probably should have been aware of how easily coronavirus mutates and how little protection the vaccine may eventually give. So, yeah, going all-in on the idea that the vaccines were and always would be 100% effective was never a good idea.

To be fair, Biden has had the benefit of three vaccines and an additional year of knowledge of coronavirus and is still being outperformed by Trump by almost every metric we have. To say that Biden failed at this is an insane understatement.

Literally no vaccine in history has been 100 percent effective so obviously nobody thought that and you're making stuff up.

Vaccinated are less likely to transmit virus and and for shorter period of time.  Cloth masks are useless and always have been.

I stand by what I said. It's not a "ridiculous length" to criticize a media statement that was saying with certainty that nothing will happen as long as you're vaxxed. All through the pandemic the CDC guidelines kept changing. So as I said, a cautious optimism would be better than her claim.

"Extremely unlikely" wasn't how Maddow presented it. She was basically giving guarantee as if she's an authority on it. 

As for your analogy, no. It would be like an announcer saying the game is over and there is no way the Giants can lose, no way the Eagles will score more points and this game is over. 

CDC is changing isoliation/quarantine guidelines:

• Folks who test positive must isolate for a minimum of 5 days from the test, or until symptoms subside. Then they must wear a facemask for 5 days afterwards.
• Folks who are close contact should quarantine 5 days from last contact, then wear a mask for 5 days. Except those who are boosted can resume activities right away, as long as they wear a mask for 10 days. They should test if they start having symptoms.

Evidence is showing people are most contagious two days before and three days after symptoms start. People are not really spreading COVID after 5 days, with no symptoms.

Well, yeah, the 10 day thing was always just an arbitrary number not guided by science. The fact that this came out on the same day the President basically said, "I completely give up" isn't a coincidence. It's just an admission that the virus is here, our vaccines don't work at all, and there's not much we can do, so we may as well quit with the overkill if someone catches it.
