Not to mention the fact that we are only in the beginning. None the less, the part that MIGHT be interesting is the lack of spread in Sweden. Everything is essentially back to fully open minus crowds and has been for close to three moths. Buses are full, restaurants the same, no masks, etc. What should we be expecting? I'm not saying I know the answer. That is wierd. One thing that both scandinavian countries and asians countries have as an advantage over United Sates, or even worse, hispanic countries or even worse India; is that they have naturally social distanced societal norms. They simply don't hug, kiss each other spit on each when drunk or conglomerate on top of each other like other cultures do.

No doubt about it. Well perhaps except the the drunk part. The rules tend to go out the door when alcohol in introduced. I'm sure it is a combination of several things. We are a healthy population relatively speaking, there is a built in social distancing, the medical system is top notch generally, hygiene is very high, etc. All of that is no doubt a very very big factor. Also, people tend to live in small households in terms of numbers of people. There are many people living alone. Still, the greater Stockholm area has about 2M people in it so it is a legit urban area and the streets, subways, buses, and restaurants/bars are back full. Gothenburg and Malmo would also qualify. I don't take the buses but people in Stockholm have told me they've been squeezed in since the main vacation period ended about a month ago. We are still talking about humans who make all sort of mistakes and I don't see a lot of distancing much anymore. There is a bit in the lines to a cashier but not much more. I'd say less than 5% of people are wearing masks if that. I was in a hospital emergency ward for a couple of days back in the 1st half of July (gall stones) and the staff there told me that they didn't have anyone in the COVID ward anymore. That was almost two months back in a hospital in downtown Stockholm. No doubt a 2nd wave could be just around the corner but things are very quiet at the moment.

I think the American's have had an adolescent level freak out on this Covid thing. Sweden's approach was much more logical, acknowledging that this is a pandemic and it will result in infections and death. Controlling the fallout is the best you can hope for. Locking down only delays the problem and creates others as we have seen first hand.

September 7, 20205 yr My niece starting high school this year, made the cheerleading squad and now has tested positive for covid-19. The rest of the family was tested yesterday. They are under quarantine for 2 weeks. No one has any symptoms, hopefully it stays that way.

September 7, 20205 yr Went to party last night for a 90 year old with probable 40 - 50 people. Plenty of older people I'd put myself in the mean age group considering the college age kids that were there as well. At first a handful of people were wearing mask. Within an hour maybe two people. By the time the old people showed up (without mask) no one was wearing one. On a side note tequila ain't bad. Interesting after taste as opposed to vodka. As I understand there is garbage tequila but was giving a few suggestions of what to look for on the shelf. 👍

"This is enough to have paid each of the estimated 462,182 rally attendees $26,553.64 not to attend." Maybe that's a new tactic. Pay people a "Stay your goober arse at home" stipend. Well, technically I guess that's what the stimulus was for.
