How is it not a respiratory virus? Unless you mean it can, in some cases, cause severe disease beyond just the respiratory tract, but that's more of a description of covid-19 rather than sars-cov-2 http://emag.medicalexpo.com/ibms-supercomputer-summit-cracking-the-covid-code/ The end result is to release what is known as a "bradykinin storm”—a huge and uncontrolled accumulation of bradykinin in certain parts of the body. According to the bradykinin hypothesis, it is this biochemical surge, which dramatically increases vascular permeability, that ultimately causes many of Covid-19’s deadly effects. Jacobson said: "The bradykinin hypothesis explains the horrific mortality rates in Covid-19 patients. When you look at the places in the body that would be affected by a bradykinin excess, they correlate with the symptoms of Covid-19, from myalgia (muscle pain) and arrhythmia (an irregular heartbeat) to cramping, diarrhea and decreased cognitive function.” In the lungs for example, leaking blood vessels cause rising fluid levels. Immune cells also leak, causing inflammation. Research by the Oak Ridge team has shown that Covid-19 also increases production of hyaluronic acid (HLA)—and when this combines with fluid in the lungs, it forms a jelly-like hydrogel. This means Covid-19 patients can suffocate, even when they are on ventilator support.

You can also include the cardiac and neurological effects experienced in some patients as well. There are ACE2 receptors everywhere, but primarily you'll find those infected by this virus in the respiratory tract.

Now he’s an American hero.

Its been 6 days and neither me or anyone in my house have symptoms so I think I'm in the clear, but work is making me stay home this week. Poor me lol.
January 4, 20214 yr Hit a wall 3 hours ago, I never sleep during the day and had to go lay down. Slept for 2 hours and am feeling crappy. I've gone completely paranoid, got a Pulse Oximeter, I'm at 97% (and 65 beats per minute)......guess that's a positive.

Keep an eye on your blood oxygen, and don't be afraid to call for an ambulance if you feel you need one.

You have some D3 and zinc handy? Try that too. Nothing wrong with monitoring your blood ox and heart rate too. Hang in there NY, sorry you're sick.
January 4, 20214 yr Vitamin C, Zinc and Tylenol are my staples right now. Again....all and all, knock on wood, it isn't end of world stuff. Just bad cold/flu'ish feeling. I just hope this is all it is......

I just hope this is all it is...... Sorry to hear. Hang in there. My brother had it for about 2 weeks, the first 8 days he said he felt like he was dying with severe flu then got better each day. His wife had it but had hardly any symptoms. Hits people different.

January 5, 20214 yr I wonder if perhaps a national plan, a strategy could have been put in place to handle a pandemic? I sort of think that is possible, right? Amid a devastating Covid-19 surge, Los Angeles County ambulance crews told not to transport patients with little chance of survival https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/05/us/los-angeles-county-california-human-disaster-covid/index.html
January 5, 20214 yr Just spoke to a British friends of mine who lives in Sweden. When flights arrive in Stockholm from London no one is allowed to disembark without showing proper Swedish passport or residence permit plus a negative COVID test in the previous 48hrs. Those not meeting those guidelines have to turn around and go right back to London.

Hello? Maybe time to give them a call and get LA a little more help. I cannot imagine what it's like to be an EMT or paramedic following this protocol. Do they just take them to a funeral home if they can't be resuscitated?

I’m in business, so one of the metrics I use to gauge an organization’s capability for success is the turnover rate. How was that in the Trump Administration, btw?
