Each one had been on the market for under 3 days and we offered over asking price. Each one had 10+ offers (one had 40 in the 3 days it was listed) and sold for 25k over, one for 50k over and then the last one for 100k over asking. After the last one I threw in the towel basically. Unless I'm willing to move to hicktown USA we're probably renting for at least another 6 months. Housing market is broken right now it doesn't make any sense. People are paying 500k for houses that aren't worth 375k just because their monthly payment is manageable with the low interest rates and they're putting 5% down. Crazy times.

I offered 10k below asking and they accepted. I probably should have offered less because I could tell they wanted to sell ASAP, but we, and my wife especially, really liked it (I would have accepted the asking price to be honest). It appraised for a decent amount more than we paid so I am satisfied as far as price goes. And we put 20 percent down.

But still 72 hours ain't easy either. I guess you could try a rapid test which would be better than nothing, but still a logistical nightmare given their "meh" accuracy and the inevitable twats who will refuse and throw a hissy fit. I do think there should be significant punishment for people who lie in the screening questions about symptoms or recent exposure though. But that's obviously more retroactive than proactive.
