If you're talking about masks specifically, it's because eventually the plague mutated and became airborne. There were two types of plague: bubonic and pneumonic.

Quote Years later, he published a booklet, Ectypa Pestilentis Status Algheriae Sardiniae, detailing the 57 rules he had imposed upon the city

I know New Zealand has had a really firm handle on things from the get-go, but especially in the case of Australia, aren't they going through a summer lull right now, like we did last summer? I guess I'd have to know what their situation was during their winter to say for sure, but it has to play a part in it.
January 28, 20214 yr Day 5 since I was exposed to someone with covid. Wife and I still feel fine. Getting a covid test this afternoon. Hoping I'm in the clear.

In any case, the data is clear that Sweden's experiment has been a horrific failure. This narrative that "all countries are failing to deal with the problem" is only driven by people eager to defend countries that have clearly failed.

January 28, 20214 yr Cuomo is a literal demon and the media praised him like he was a genius. He's beneath contempt.

Right but you left out all the other stuff like total lockdown, shutdown of stores/bars/restaturants/sports/culture, work from home, no school or remote school, etc. etc. The hygiene part is easy in terms of what people should do. No debate there. However, in reality it gets much tougher. You have real people involved (you know, those stupid ones you like to talk about) not just a manual. Authorities deal in real situations not labs or theories. They also have to deal with jobs, economies, etc. Do you agree with that?

However, IF the standard procedures were followed, each of these can be dealt with on a case by case basis. If schools, etc have outbreaks past a certain point, close them. There is no other choice. You can stop the spread or you can wait for herd immunity to kill off the weak.
January 28, 20214 yr don't call them stupid. treat them respectfully and objectively lay out the facts in a straightforward way. them:

Well maybe we are talking about two different things. I'm saying the overall set of policy that any authority needs to deal with is complex. People's lives need to be saved yes. No question about that. Policy includes other things though. Hygiene rules are rather clear and simple. We can agree on that.

We can, but the idiots have to be forced, because mask wearing and distancing infringes on their freedom.
