They just allowed 16-year-olds to start getting the shot not that long ago.  My daughter is 16 and just got her 2nd dose a few days ago.

It's been a month here in MI. When I was that age, something like this had to be super convenient otherwise I was not going out of my way to do it. Just a totally different mindset from where I'm at now.

Uh...when I was 16 I wouldn't have had a choice. My parents would have made clear I was getting the vaccine.

16 year old kids shouldn't be making their own medical decisions.

I mean, over 74,000,000 still voted for him, though.

Ok, then look at the percentage for 18 year olds. It's still really low. I never went to the doctor regularly until my mid 20s when my insurance company mandated annual physicals to qualify for a discount on premiums.

Well, right...

We told my daughter if she wants to hang out with friends that she needed to get the vaccine.  Lol

Neither did I, but I still would have gotten the vaccine at 18. The problem is this group of young people is breathtakingly stupid and selfish.

Plus, parents were paying for college. My father is a simple man. If he's paying, he's making the decisions.

These teens are really anxious to get back in the same room and be together while staring at their phones again, aren't they? 😂

They need to come up with more apps so these kids can communicate with each other...

It's pretty much every group of young people. You just tend to forget about the poor decisions you or your peers made as you get older.

When I was 16, I was so F'd up all the time, I would've barely known about the pandemic, much less where and how to get the vaccine.

To an extent, but I do think we're living in unique times. I'm sure your kids are great, since you seem like a competent parent, but the lack of basic social skills is kind of alarming. The phones are definitely warping minds and stunting intellectual growth. It's happening to everyone, but it's more pronounced in young kids who haven't learned another way.

It's natural for parents to want to defend their kids' generation, but there's also probably a little bias there. Vikas and I are just neutral observers, since we've got no skin in the game (literally, lol).

Hey, if an 8 year old wants to switch genders you should absolutely shoot them up with lupron!  Their body, their choice!

Exactly. I would go with my cousin to buy weed in some shady areas. Lord knows what it could've been laced with at any given time. Did I care? F no. I wanted to have fun and hang out, everything else was a distant afterthought.

I do think this generation is more informed and politically aware. That's a good thing, but whether they're really willing to fight for change and get their hands dirty is still an open question. Social media makes it too easy to be am armchair activist and call it a day.

I F'd up a lot too when I was young.  But that was more the 18-22 year old range for me

Oh I rag on my daughter's generation constantly when it comes to their ability to socially interact. This whole influencer mindset where everything is about trying to get the most followers is creating super-charged attention hoors. But as far as making poor decisions or taking unnecessary health risks, I highly doubt any generation is truly unique in that regard.

We used to drop acid and then go to school regularly.  I literally couldn't have cared less about the world outside of getting F'd up and trying to get laid.  If the pandemic happened then, I would've been ecstatic that school was out for so long but outside of that I wouldn't have known anything else.

This is true.  Kids are way more plugged into what's going on now.  Which is mainly just a byproduct of having all the information in the world in their pockets.  And outside of the obvious social issues (which are actually pretty serious) and then just the annoyance of them thinking they know everything (which really isn't that serious), it's probably overall a good thing.
